Hello Dear Client(s), We hope everyone reads all of our other 300 five star reviews on all and compare it to this one. We are hoping we are not being disrespectful here in this response, but we are not sure how else to tell such a discrepancy but to mention that this client suffers from brain damage after a car accident and takes 6 personality medications. This was one of the toughest clients we have had to deal with. We are used to be complemented and admired for our attention to detail, and how much we care about every project and how well we treat my clients. But in this specific project, we got yelled at, disrespected, and were called names, and yet we persevered and kept going until we got the job finished as we would accept to deliver it. The turning point was when we spoke to his spouse an executive of a large company who was never available. She told him how we felt and after that he would confront us on why we told his wife negative things about his behavior and all we were doing was trying to find out how to cope with him and prevent any issues. After that, his attitude toward Navid and Outdoor Makeover changed and he turned even more disrespectful. The overall project went very well and we finished. After month 3, in February, the pump for the waterfall went out. We did not install the waterfall and it was preexisting prior to meeting the client. We were told to use the existing pump to the waterfall. They contacted Navid and we sent our waterfall expert and we replaced the waterfall complementary, but by the time we made adjustments to the waterfall, there was a break in the line. Unfortunately, temperatures were below 40 degrees and we could not do anything. After about a week and half, temps rose and we fixed that problem. By then the autofill, was frozen as well because the client did not winterize their irrigation system. Then we were asked to fix that. This process took one month, because of the temps and PVC cement not working. During this one month, we received nasty emails from him calling Navid incompetent more times than we can count. Eventually we fixed the issue and we spoke to him and explained all the limitations we had. Afterwards, he was more understanding and appreciative that we kept trying and he sent Navid an email (verbatim): “…we understand the weather issues. We also want to assure you that we have no intention of giving you a negative review on Angie’s List or anywhere else. As Debbie has said, we are looking forward to spring when everything will be vibrant.” We worked very hard to have a great outcome with the project and ultimately we are happy with the way the project came out and we delivered. We did encounter a big problem when we were working on a waterfall that someone else had built. We would be more than happy to come back and do whatever we need to do to earn your satisfaction again because we run a company of 100 percent satisfaction as evident in all my other reviews. We received a review from this client that we thought was inaccurate in many ways. 1) First the client mentioned how we showed up late to the first meeting, when he actually asked Navid not to come because of a dinner reservation. We came the next day at 11 am, and were there until 8 pm to sign a contract. Many details for this project are misconceived in this review due to his memory, and we had the same problem as the job was going on. 2) The client spoke about the abelia grandiflora as if we killed them, we were hired to do rejuvenation cuts to these abelia grandifloras because they were leggy. The client had planted these 26 years ago and they were 8ft high. We asked the client if they were interested in trimming it to solve the problem. He did not like the idea but his wife did. She was convinced that blocking the whole front of house by these plants did make you guys seem unfriendly to neighbors. We would never touch plants and make these kinds of decisions by ourselves. Every decision is made by Navid and our clients and implemented by my army of skilled men. 3) During this project, Navid was contacted in the Spring and notified that some plants were dead, we stopped by and emailed to let them know that the holly ferns were budding again. They are usually evergreen in winter and went into hibernation due to the extreme weather Atlanta experienced. The client thanked us for stopping by two weeks afterward. Then, his wife emailed Navid, 2 months afterward to let us know the yard is looking great. 4) The client mentioned that we asked him to do Navid’s and Outdoor Makeover’s job. We stopped by every day for couple of hours to go over the job with him and employees working on the project. Navid’s quality assurance walk-throughs were consistent throughout the project. We constantly asked you how you like things to keep you in loop. 5) It was mentioned Navid did not listen to them, when all Navid was doing was coming up with different ideas and see what the client like. People hire Navid to hear Navid’s ideas and Navid’s vision and design sense. Navid’s job is to get inspired and share them with his clients. That is why you signed up for a consultation. No one is obligated to do what we want to do, but most people admire Navid’s creativity and love the outcome of his creativity and the quality of implementation. The client gave us a list in the beginning, then we went over it and everything in that list was done. There were a few things that were not in list such as all the ivy growing on the big trees and small hanging tree over the street that we removed for him, complementary. 6) It was mentioned that it took months to start and the client contacted us many times, however we mentioned to the client that we were booked up for a few weeks and the client agreed to wait. Ultimately, we started as promised despite the weather we were experiencing. 7) There is a mentioned about an above ground PVC pipe. We always give our clients the pros and cons all the options and together we decide. The whole hill was one big piece of granite (quite intriguing) and we could not dig there. There was already a flexible pipe there that carried the water to the upper fall. The pipe was chewed by animals and destroyed by maintenance men. We suggested the PVC because the same thing would not happen. However, because the PVC is white we planted more ferns around it to cover it up. The ferns the only plants that apparently could grow on top of this hill (that is all that was growing on the granite groves). Additionally, we spray painted a few areas of the PVC with cameo paint so that it would blend in. 8) We put stucco on the wall which needed to be painted the same color of the house paint. The client made it sound like I used left over paint, which was not the case. We bought 10 gallons of stucco and at the end, and we had one gallon extra which is not enough for any kind of project. The stucco needed to be painted after being applied, and we had expressed that to the client as well. 9) We bought the appropriate plants. Hosta ferns and iris only come in 1 gallon plants, but all the shrubs, like camellia creeping yews, and all the area hardy plants like upright yew and hydrangeas came in 3 gallon. As the project was taken shape and we started seeing the space come together we came and asked if the client wanted to expand the budget to include more plants but the client said not now maybe later, so we made it work. The client did not mention we ended up throwing in $300 for more plants out of pocket so we can design something we would be proud of. We refuse to leave a design incomplete, and we can’t cut corners, so we invested in the project ourselves to make it look better. 10) We constantly fixed the pond in cold weather and we had issues due to weather that caused the pump failing and irrigation freezing. However many times we tried, there was not much we could do. We would ask him to look over everything just to keep the client involved and not to check the job for accuracy as the client is no landscape specialist. All together there were 4 independent problems and the client perceived it as one, as if we kept making the same mistake. The problems kept occurring because of the time of the year and all the deep freeze Atlanta received. 11) Our vendor warranties plants for us for one year but we have to show him photos. We need clients to point to us what is dead and tell us how many otherwise we may miss them. Once, we get the photos then we can instruct my vendor and our employees to go take care of the client asap. List of all the complementary services we provided for the client: 1. We gave them a new pump in the pond (client offered to pay). At this point Navid felt so bad about the pond experience he ate the cost just to take care of you. 2. The stone walkway in the front and stone border. 3. Steps to the bench to create a raised bench an make it pop 4. We cut the tree that was hanging over the street. 5. We cut all the ivy to as many trees as we could in the back 6. We fixed an irrigation valve and break in it in very back of the property where we had never worked and we fixed it to take care of you. 7. We re-did a lot of irrigation to keep the wall where it was because we changed the curve to make it nicer looking 8. We re-purposed a lot of natural stone in the back from what the client had piled on the left side of the house 9. We installed to make nice borders and we used it in the pond 10. In the end, $500 worth of plants at no charge because when we were designing we went over, and we spent our own profit to make it look nice. Unfortunately, the good things that we did has been forgotten and the negative aspects of the project that remain is remembered. We wish we could have only dealt with the client and this would have gone perfectly smooth like every other job that we do when the clients are involved.
