Moncrief Heating & Air Conditioning

They came when they said they would. They installed it and they checked to make sure it ran okay. Then they took the old water heater away. They had previously installed a new ac system and furnace in april of 2012. Everything about them was great.

Very knowledgeable. Answered all questions and volunteered good advice.

They were fast, efficient and courteous. I don't have comparison for the price but I guess, it's reasonable but I didn't get more than one quote.

They were very rapid in responding and very quick and it was done. I don't know how they compare but it was $350. I have no idea on how to rate the price. It was an emergency so I think the quality is great because nobody else could come up and back in 24 hours. The guy was very nice.

All of the people I have contact with at Moncrief are professional and responsive. Of all the service providers I use for my home, Moncrief is the the only one whose every department communicates with each other and does what they say they will. Technicians call to tell me they're on the way, they always arrive in the window they say they will, they use disposable booties over their shoes and perform their work efficiently. I have had my PM contract for 12 years not because it it the easy thing to do, but because I am consistently pleased with their service.

We called for service because our air conditioner had stopped cooling. We were given a 2 hour window & told he would call when on his way. Arrived right on time. He examined the unit, checked the inside condenser for all the normal issues (power on, filter changed, etc.). He then put the unit under pressure to look for the leak but could not find it. He spent an hour checking everything but did not charge anymore than the initial price. We also got a second opinion from a different company with the same result so we are sure they were not just trying to "upsell us". Service person was polite & professional.

Got home from a trip on a Sunday and discovered that the upstairs unit was not cooling. Determined that there was an issue with the compressor outside. Called Moncrief, who answered the phone on a Sunday, and was able to get an appointment for the next day. I received a call that the technician was on the way and he arrived on time. He used special shoe covers when entering the house. He voluntarily cleaned out one of the condensation pipes and brought a hose with spray attachment to clean the compressor units. He replaced the capacitor on the compressor and tested it first. He went above and beyond to do a great job.

I called the office using Moncreif because my real estate agent said to. I was quoted a price of $120 for the technican to come and inspect the units. I did not want any work done, we did not own the house, just a once over to see if there were any problems. He seemed to be spending a long time checking the systems out, and did report that both were low on coolant, and that one had a leak that was visible. Then he presented the bill. I had a brief discussion about the price with him, but did not call the office to discuss the charges. He broke it down for me at his hourly rate, but I really felt he just went over and above the inspection that I requested and he gouged me. With my agent there, the house inspector there, and feeling pressure to get the process finished I just paid it. I regret it. Hence the bad review. I did not use them for any repair work once we closed on the house. I am extremely happy with the new HVAC installers I used. He did show up on time. They were easy to schedule an appointment with. Update 7/21/13 So, Tom Mutz did contact me, and we have been playing voice mail tag. However I left a message for him about four weeks ago that yes he could send me a refund and I would update my Angie's List opinion. However I have not received a refund, nor any more calls. Just wanted you all to know that the situation did not get resolved.

That went fine. They were fine; they were on time and kept me informed of what was going on. They did a good job. I chose them because their price was competitive and they had a good reputation. I had three estimates and they were all pretty close, so they were the best but not by very much.

While here on a quarterly inspection and servicing, Bobby found that the duct connectors into the upstairs furnace was not attached correctly, showed it to me, and explained why it needed to be fixed. It required a return visit, which was made within a week.

They have been a service provider of mine for about 10 to 15 years. They're very good. They are always on time and they are very professional. They always do their work right the first time and that's important. They are very respectful of the customer's time as well. Their pricing is high.

Basically a fuse broke. He looked around and couldn't find anything wrong so he went back to the fuse box and found that the fuse had flipped. I'm sure there are people that would have come out and tried to sell us a whole new unit but he didn't.

They were professional and courteous. I would use them again.

The entire process went very well. John & the entire Moncrief staff went out of their way to accommodate our schedule, and the install only took one day. Everyone at Moncrief was extremely professional, and the install crew did a remarkable job and even cleaned up after themselves. This is a 'Rave Review'.

Excellent work, friendly staff, works perfect

Our heater went out and I diagnosed the issue myself - problem somewhere around the gas valve. I didn't have time to do the work so I called Moncrief, who are very highly recommended. They sent someone out on a Saturday to look at the furnace. I was correct, the gas valve needed to be replaced, but the technician refused to do the work due to our vent pipe not being to code. The pipe actually was rusted out on the side and likely spewing CO into my home. I understand that is a liability for them, but he offered no means to fix the pipe. He spent 30 minutes total looking at the furnace, giving the estimate, then left, leaving my family to shuttle around space heaters during the below-freezing weekend. I got a follow up call a few days later from Moncrief to talk about the pipe, but by then I had fixed the pipe and replaced the gas valve. The estimate he gave to replace JUST the valve was $400. I found the part for $100. That and the fact they charge $95 for a service call makes them a very bad value. They were punctual and I appreciate the Saturday visit, but I feel they just took the money and ran with no real concern for our problem. I will never use them and will never recommend them.

They got it up & running & gave us some recommendation for the future. They were very knowledgeable & very helpful. It was really hot at the time & all the HVAC techs were really busy, but they were still able to come out within a couple of days of us contacting them which really helped.

They are very professional and know what they are doing. They evaluated the system and took action. They have a great maintenance program. We have used them for many years and are confident with their service.

Moncrief is always punctual and most of the employees have been with the company for some time. In fact, if it wasn't for their phone calls to set up appointments, I would never get the work done! This last time they had to call me several times because I kept forgetting to call them back.

I called them on a recommendation from a friend. I set the appt. I was then called by someone in their office that said they wouldn't be coming because they don't do new duct work. My friend thought that was odd, called them, and confirmed that they Do duct work. The appt was reset. The man arrived on time. But from there, he made a very poor impression. He was very arrogant, he said that no one can compare to his company, that those other "father - son" companies will never give me the quality that his company can. He even said those companies would be like Moncrief when they "grow up". He told me the unit could only go under the stairs, where I didn't want it. He was so full of himself it was almost funny. He then gave me an estimate of over $8,000.00! I then heard of another company called Liberty Mechanical. They did exactly what Moncrief was going to do, same quality meaterials, for $3,000.00 less! You don't have to pay through the nose to get quality!

The arrived when they said and checked everything out. Found the upstairs thermostat was broke and replaced it. Cleaned and checked all parts and adjusted gas pressure.

They were very punctual and good about calling back so I have no negative feedback.
