The worker that came over was just a normal serviceman, and he didn't know if what he even did would take care of the problem. He did absolutely nothing for the minimal $59 that they charged to have the serviceman come out to my house, and I think they need to tell you up front about the add on of $59 plus the $38 per quarter hour. If I had known that, I would have looked around.
Description of Work: The worker came over and charged me for coming out and for each quarter hour. The total was $274. He had serviced a few things on the air conditioning unit and fixed some plastic tubing.

It was very negative and I would not recommend them. They were responsive and that was good, but otherwise it was horrible. The second visit they charged me again to tell me there was nothing wrong and then it broke down again.
Description of Work: The experience was negative and I won't use them again. It kept breaking down and they kept sending someone else. The story changed every time as to what needed to be done. It was wiring, Freon, and it was put together wrong.

THIS IS WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN AN AIR CONDITIONER IS POORLY INSTALLED. THE SERVICE TECH CAN LOOK BAD WHICH WE APPARENTLY DID HERE. THIS AIR CONDITIONER IS ON AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT THAT IS TOO SMALL. THE PROPER (MAX) SIZE IS ALWAYS STAMPED ON THE AIR CONDITIONER. ALSO, THE CONTROL WIRING WAS WRONG WHICH CAUSED INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. THE FIRST TWO CALLS WERE ON CONSECUTIVE SUNDAYS. HE RECEIVED IMMEDIATE SERVICE. HE WAS BILLED STRAIGHT TIME (NO OVERTIME) FOR THESE CALLS. THE SECOND OF THESE CALLS THE UNIT WAS RUNNING. REMEMBER, INTERMEDIATE PROBLEM. HE WAS ONLY CHARGED $38 FOR THIS CALL. NOT BAD FOR SUNDAY SERVICE. EACH TIME WE LEFT HIS HOUSE COOLING PERFECTLY. THE LAST TWO CALLS WERE DONE BY SUPERVISORS ON A WED, THURS. WHO TOOK A COMBINED 4 HOURS AT HIS HOUSE TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM AND GET IT SOLVED THIS WAS FREE. THAT’S RIGHT, HE WAS NOT BILLED A PENNY FOR THIS 4 HOURS OF WORK BY TWO OF THE BEST TECHNICIANS ANYWHERE WHO HAVE OVER 35 YEARS EACH OF EXPERIENCE WITH MONCRIEF. HIS PROBLEM IS NOW FIXED WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT HE SHOULD HAVE AN ELECTRICIAN COME OUT AND INSTALL A LARGER ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT FOR THIS UNIT. IT WASN’T PRETTY. SOMETIMES IT IS AMAZING WHAT JACK LEGS DO TO GET A SYSTEM IN. SORRY, BUT AT TIMES IT TAKES US A FEW CALLS TO GET IT ALL SORTED OUT. BUT, AS IN THIS CASE, THE CUSTOMER DID NOT PAY ANY MORE MONEY BECAUSE IT TOOK US MULTIPLE TRIPS TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF WHAT ANOTHER COMPANY HAD DONE TO THE SYSTEM BEFORE WE WERE CALLED TO THE JOB. Moncrief's work was punctual, and efficient. The project mgr. was very helpful and explained why certain things would be done and where. He made helpful money saving suggestions for when we did finish the basement. They cleaned up very well.
Description of Work: Moncrief installed an Amana heat pump, air handler, 8 kw strip heat, and new heat pump with programmable thermostat. They installed the ductwork in order to facilitate any future improvements in the unfinished basement.

When I called, the people on the phone were always pleasant and very helpful. The repairman arrived a little after the end of the time window. That normally wouldn't bother me but I had been sitting in a hot house for 3 hours. He said that he could not open the unit up because I did not turn the unit off. I could have because it was only blowing hot air around. But no one told me to do that. But he also needed a part that he didn't have so needless to say I went another day without air. They did come back the following day even though it was a hassle for me to be home again. I feel like the price was high, but really don't know. The air has been working great since they fixed it about a month ago.

I left an email at Moncrief's website one evening, and was contacted the next day by a customer service rep. I wasn't home to meet the service tech but my fianc e was and she had nothing to but great things to say about him. He was friendly and professional and went out of his way to make sure she felt safe. He arrived at the schedule time and called to her her know he was on the way. The entire service call took about 2 hours. The price wasn't the cheapest in town, but you get what you pay for.

The emergency drain pan underneath our A/C unit kept overflowing, which in turn caused the unit to shut off. There was water everywhere and it was a really hot day. The next morning I started calling around and no one could come out for at least two days. These are the first really hot days of the summer and I'm sure a lot of people were having A/C issues. Moncrief said they could send someone out the end of that day. The day got later and later but they promised he would come no matter how late it was. Chris got here around 7:30, and despite having what I'm sure was a really long day, he could not have been any nicer. It turned out to be an easy fix and our AC was up and running in no time. Chris was very professional, friendly and knew exactly what to do. He fixed it in 15 minutes.
Description of Work: There was a water leak in the main system due to clog in condensation drain line. They added a hose line and removed the clog.

It went okay. Although the new system inexplicably stopped working two weeks after installation, the installation of the new furnace was done promptly and neatly. Moncrief has been responsive and their employees have been polite and neat. Their salesman was conservative and knowledgeable. My one criticism is with the initial systems servicing call. Although I requested a comprehensive examination of our heating and air conditioning systems, the technician was packing to leave without looking at our air conditioning. Then, I had to ask him many questions before he told me that one furnace and two humidifiers were not working AT ALL. If I were not present, and was not an old house restorer by profession, I fully believe the technician would have left without telling me either of these VERY IMPORTANT facts. And, despite these facts, he replaced the large, expensive air filter on the non-working furnace, after the non-working furnace was already scheduled for replacement.
Description of Work: For a new (old) house my wife and I purchased, Moncrief serviced the existing heating and air conditioning systems, and replaced a non-functioning furnace with a new high-efficiency furnace and HEPA air cleaning system.

Job 1: I would absolutely use them again. I was interested in their annual contract but at $500 plus - I passed for this year. Job 2: I've used Moncrief for annual furnace check and one emergency call. My furnace went out on a cold Saturday night. I contacted their emergency number and they called right back. They scheduled a tech to come out the next morning (Sunday! at 9 a.m). He showed up on time and was polite and professional. He identified the problem quickly (and correctly) and charged me for a half hour of labor (around $75 dollars). He showed me what to do if this happens again and how to prevent it. Great experience! Also their office staff is on the ball!
Description of Work: Job 1: Contacted them for an annual inspection and service of two furnaces in a recently purchased house. The office staff was great about explaining what was offered and cost. Very friendly and responsive office staff. The technician arrived on time. He was professional and extremely pleasant. He diagnosed a small problem with a part. He explained the cost to fix it on site that day (around $250 - condensation pump that was malfunctioning). I inquired about the difficulty of the fix and acquiring the part. He told me what I needed and how to install it - it took 5 minutes after purchasing the part at an home improvement store for $50.($180.) Job 2: Fixed intake flow issue on furnace.($75.)

I am an absentee landlord. My tenants called and let me know of a "loud" sound coming form the furnace. I called Moncrief, they came out the same day. There were parts that needed to be ordered and they called me and took care of the whole thing over the phone. They even phoned me when the work was completed and allowed me to pay over the phone. My first appointment was to be on a Monday afternoon with a time frame between 4-7 p.m and took time off work to be there. I first called at 5:30 p.m to get an ETA. Said he was finishing up a job and would be there soon. Got a call at 5:55 p.m. and said he could not come that evening as he had deeper problems at the current job and had to start over. I asked for another technician and there were none on hand. Re-scheduled for Wednesday evening for 5:30 p.m. sharp...said they would be there...took another hour off work! They were very honest about what I needed. They answered my questions and doubts. They showed up on time. They had the opportunity to sell me something and they did not, so that I really appreciate. They only charged me to come out. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: I called Moncrief for them to service the air conditioning unit in my 1600 square foot home. I asked them to install a dehumidifier to keep my windows from fogging up. They sent out a technician. He evaluated my unit and house and he recommended that I not purchase it because it wouldn t work. They charged me a small fee to come out.
