We got off to a bumpy start and part of that had something to do with the tenants not cooperating.? However, Mr. Wise hung in there with me and was able to complete the job of installing the doors.? I really appreciate his time and patience.

First of all, it took forever to get the estimates. 7/15 first request the estimate, respond very fast to ask for details, but no appointment made. 7/21 requested again to get a date for estimate. Appointment made on 7/25, no show (called later to said they were too busy), and rescheduled on the next day. Finally came 7/26. Waited for the estimate cost until 7/29, then I contacted them to ask for the estimated cost. Finally, they sent me the cost on 7/31. I asked some follow up questions about the cost. David replied on 8/4, but not answering all the questions I asked, but I didn't want to wait any more, so I made the appointment on 8/12. They said they would come around 9-10 a.m., but no show, I called several times, but no respond, and they finally came around 11:20. They said they went to buy materials, and can't find in Home Depot, so went to Lowe's. But why couldn't they call to let me know? The job is to install the bath fan and free standing tub. The estimate is about 4 hrs job for $1102, one man $75/hr, plus materials. The estimates seemed high to me, but David said it would be adjusted base on the actual times used. To save money, I installed the bath fan myself, they just need to wire the switch and hook up the vent for it. Two men came, one man works on the tub, and the other man works on the fan, and the fan only took him less than 2 hrs. Then, he went to help to install the tub. The tub needed to hook up the water lines and drain, and everything were expose above the surface, so the job was quite simple. I went down to check on them several times, the second man was just standing there to pass tools. Finally, they are done around 6 something. (worked 7 hrs) David sent me the invoice of $1335 on 8/18. (8 hrs 2-men plus $135 materials) They charged time that they spent on buying materials, they told me that before, but I thought it would probably cost about $75 (1 hr labor), however, they charged $150 for just went to buy materials, because they went to two places. It just sounds ridicous to me. They actually forgot to buy the fan duct, so I went out to buy for them. And, the second man who stood there passing tools was charged $75 per hr!! The estimated time was doubled. Also, they charged me $135 for materials without showing me receipts, and they took everything that I paid for after they were done. If I paid for them, they should at least asked if I wanted to keep them. Then, my husband argued with them for an hr, finally they agreed to reduce the price back to the estimated cost. Totally not happy with them. Good lesson learned, never use handyman by hrs, always by project, then no surprise will come.

[Member Name removed], I am surprised you did not comment on how nice and neat the end result looked and how much you told us you liked it before we left, especially since we went to great extremes to fulfill your wishes. Before starting, we checked with 2 supply houses. Both said, with your layout, what you wanted could not be done. As I recall, you told me other people before me told you the same thing. We customized a very complicated layout to fit the tub faucet in a tight space and covered the connections with custom made escutcheons. When you told me you replaced the vent fan, we thought that included the duct. Just doing the fan and not the wiring did not help, for we had to take the fan apart to install the new wires. A second man on the job was essential to move the tub twice in order to hook up the drain and drill the floor. If not, we may have scratched the floor. When we finish a job, we clean everything up. If we mistakenly took something you provided, please tell me and I will return it. The $135.00 material costs were outlined in the estimate that you signed before we started. Please note: you added onto the job, but did not pay for: 1. Installing the shower rod. 2. Drilling the floor and anchoring the tub. 3. Installing a new dual switch for the fan. 4. Replacing broken floor tile. 5. Installing new cut-off valves to the tub. All of this you got for FREE, and you still wanted another discount. I thought discounting all of the changes, saving you over $200.00 would have made you happy. Our estimate clearly states that “this is a guess”, not an exact price. I hope you like how it looks. We are proud of it. David Wise

We need to install a range hood to replace our old over-the-range microwave oven. I initially contacted 4 handymen and Mr. David Wise was the one who promptly called back and discussed all details with me. After several rounds of back and forth emails discussing the schedule and installation procedures, Mr. Wise was able to very effectively show me the layout of installation and made a schedule at his earliest convenience. On the day of work, despite the fact Lee who was dispatched by Mr. Wise showed up late (we were agreed on 9am-10am but Lee showed up at 1:30pm), he did an excellent job on the installation, every piece of duct was connected with screws and then wrapped with metal tapes. Lee was also very into details, he inspected all the connections to make sure no air leakage. Eventually after more than 6 hours of work, Lee finished the job and he cleaned and vacuumed the entire working area (very professional). The only complaints I have are the price and punctuality. I was quoted for just over $600 and was also told that we could save 1 hr of labor by removing the old microwave oven ourselves (which we actually did trying to save some money). But it turned out to be over $800 on the final bill. At the end of the day, we settled the dispute and agreed on $680. My suggestions to people who are looking for handymen: If you are looking for quality work and not so tight on the budget, then Mini Jobs is your No1 choice. I think that Mini Jobs as a growing company, their overhead becomes very high; And those overhead and all the other costs associated with running the company will pass down to us, the customers. That is why you will see Lee, or "Matt", or some other guy at work, but never David Wise himself.

Thank you, Mr. [member name removed], for the feedback. We have 8 men for whom we schedule work. My job in this company is to organize and make sure everyone is happy with the results. I check before and after each job. I show up only when necessary if someone else is not doing a good job We cannot see through walls (yet) at all the possible complications, so we guess. Lee did run into a few challenges which took longer. Thank you for your understanding. Please let me know if we can help with anything else. David Wise.

Satisfied with the installation of the fan, not satisfied with how long it took. Contact Mr. Wise in June and fan was installed late August. I have contacted Mr. Wise on several occasions about the installation of the doors; contacted him two weeks ago...;he did not return my call. I don't know if the doors are installed or not. I am very unsatisfied with the communication and the work not being completed in a timely fashion. We have been looking for someone since November or last year, here it is October of 2014 and we have yet found someone to complete everything that we have asked. I give up... I have less than 3 weeks to get my house ready for new tenants; UGH!!!

Contractor was found through Snap Fix app. Even though we sent him numerous emails containing specifics of job requirements Mr. Wise never seemed to understand completely what we needed. I sent him photos of existing kitchen. I gave him the product number from Ikea so that he could check out the specifics of installation. Contract proposals were incomplete and did not cover entire project. Most phone calls were not returned. A site visit was never performed. When we finally spoke on the phone the night before work was to be performed, Mr. Wise wanted to tell me how he was sure I didn't understand the job. He was confident the existing cabinet did not have to be removed. I knew then that the information I had sent him received only a cursory glance at best. One cannot install a range hood from Ikea that has a vent that runs to the ceiling without removing existing cabinet. When he slowed down long enough to listen, he finally understood and asked me to send installation instructions. At this time, the night before work was to be done, he said 'well, don't expect me tomorrow'! I wasted three weeks trying to work with Mini Jobs. By the time Mini Jobs got back with new estimate Snap Fix had already secured me another provider that I am very happy with.

This went fantastic! We started by making contact and got a very fast response from David. This was followed by an estimate breaking down all elements and costs (I liked that) and emailed to me in PDF form. We were off to a great start! Our team (Chris & Floyd) were very nice, personable guys. They were unobtrusive, attentive (we work here & have pets) and helpful with their tips and answers to questions I had. Did a great job for us and got it all done in only 3 days. Mini Jobs was not the cheapest nor the most expensive quote we got. But, the professional way it was presented and explained...we felt comfortable and confident to move forward and sign with them. Yes, I would refer them again, as a matter of fact they are starting work on my other bathroom now! I guess that speaks for itself.

David called the day before and although he was booked up for two weeks, for such a small job he took the time to come by and take care of my problem. I agreed to pay the one-hour minimum cost as I understood he had to take time to drive here, get rid of the old appliance, and move on to his next job that had been scheduled two weeks ago. David was very professional and did not seem to mind taking care of such small job for me in what was essentially his spare time. I had two other quotes for twice as much and those were not through Angie's List. They did not even bother with a phone call, just a message service. The next time I have a problem, big or small, it will be David I call first.

I was completely satisfied with the work done. I was also very impressed with the scope of his knowledge on the other work I asked about. Leslie's advice on other small jobs was quite helpful. He was professional, a good communicator, and very knowledgeable. I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Leslie rehung two exterior doors that had slipped from square and did not close properly, and replaced another door from the house to the garage (replacing the interior door with a provided exterior door). The deadbolt locks (I provided) were changed on two doors. He allso gave advice on several other jobs, suggesting materials needed before I call mini jobs to do the work.

Well, I would recommend changing the name of the company from Mini Jobs to "Mini Jobs" as long as it is $1000 or more in labor. Initially David was very quick to respond and seemed like he was interested in the job. I sent over pictures and so forth and he said he would get back to me with an idea of the cost range. After a couple of days of nothing, I called back and left a message. Then, he called back the next day to talk more about the job. There was some discrepancy about he window size so I asked if he would like to have someone come to the house and measure. He said he could but he would have to charge the time as the job was too small to have someone do that. I said that was fine, not a problem as I understand and he could go ahead and bill me for the time. He said he would gather material cost ideas and call me back. One week later... nothing. I have scheduled a visit with another repairman who is more than willing to come out and has been very prompt. I was very disappointed in the service of mini jobs as they came recommended to me, but it is apparent they are only interested in large jobs despite the name. I couldn't even hand the business to them ... Unfortunately, if you look at 3 of the latest reviews, all reviewers are saying similar things.

Formerly I had called for an estimate from David and received no response from him despite following up, but he checked in with me following a bad review on Angie's list and we realized it was a misunderstanding due to my area code (405) being similar to the local area code (404). I had already found another handyman for the previous job but had a few other things that needed to be done and thought I could give Minijobs another chance. David communicated with me very well on these jobs and checked in often, definitely showing that he is reliable and responsive. Ultimately, his estimate was higher than estimates we had received to get the new jobs done separately, so we are going with other painters and pressure washers in the end.

Initially, the company was very responsive. I received a prompt email reply. A few days later, I received a call from the owner estimating the cost of the job. He asked me to take inventory of everything that needed to be chaulked, nailed down, replaced & painted. After taking the time to inventory everything, I emailed the details to the company, I was expecting the job to move forward, but the company didn't respond. I just don't understand why they would ask me to do all this work if they never intended to do the job. They could of simply said that they didn't have the time and/or weren't interested.

I had 3 very small odd jobs. Dave contacted me immediately and tried to work me in within 5 days. He always called the night before to set up the appointment so I wouldn't have to hang around waiting. The first appointment no one showed up and no one called to tell me they weren't coming. Later that night Dave called to say he "forgot" because he was busy with someone else. He offered to have someone come out on Saturday for no additional charge. He quoted me a time with a 1 hour window. No one showed up again. After being 1 1/2 hours late, a workman called asking about supplies. He wasn't even on his way yet. Because he was so late and it was the second time they didn't show up I decided to use someone else. if you have a small job, beware of this type of shoddy customer service.

Dave from Mini Jobs returned my called immediately and stayed in contact with me regarding the appointment and the job. He was able to send Leslie, the handyman, over to my house the next day. He recommended that I purchase the supplies needed to avoid shopping/travel time charges. Leslie was professional, competent, and friendly. He worked steadily for the two hours it took to install the mailbox. He came back the next day to tighten a loose connection that i noticed after he had left. I would definitely use Mini Jobs again.

I read a couple poor reviews and decided to try them anyway. I'm so glad I did! I personally spoke with the owner and he was great about trying to help me figure out what was needed prior to a visit. He explained all set costs up front so I knew what to expect. Prior to the initial visit, I had to go out-of-town unexpectedly to take care of my father. I managed to remember to call and cancel the appointment and said I would call when I got back in town. David followed up with me and I was impressed that he took the time to do so. The day of the repair, his handyman came over to test the problem and figure out how to repair. David also came over to supervise the work for a while. He made some great suggestions, some of which we implemented that day. I was very pleased and would call him again anytime.

Updated rating 9/4/13 - resolved invoicing and job is closed. Based on my resolution with David I would feel comfortable referring them for jobs and/or using them in the future. ******* I'm hoping that I can update this review with more positive input at a future time. At this point in time I will not recommend MiniJobs. I had some floor work done in June and have not yet been able to get an invoice or pay for this job (August 22nd). The prior interactions were positive and professional, but something is clearly going on with this company at the moment. I would recommend searching out other providers until their communication issues are straightened out. Last query from me that had a response from David was on August 15th. I have reached out since with no response. This is disappointing as the work was good, although for my job a little expensive due to the hourly rate - but I fully intended on using them again and referring them to neighbors and other Angie's List users.
Description of Work: installed laminate floors (with repairs to sub-floor), installed baseboards. Area was a little under 200 sq ft total.
