The concrete work appears to be all right although we have two minor cracks after 3 weeks. They flattened a downspout, broke and electrical box with a light switch, tore out part of a garden when they prepared for the sidewalk, loosened part of the brick foundation by the garage door, destroyed a garden sprinkler, and skinned up several trees. They said they would be back to clean the splatter off the sides of the house and fix things. A person did come back with two plants and a new downspout. I had to loan him a ladder and the tools to install it. The street in front of our house was a mess. I cleaned it up myself. No one has come back to clean the spatter off the house or fix the brick foundation or pay for the sprinkler.

Reid and his crew were fantastic! So excited for my new driveway and cannot believe it it only took one day! Love the way it looks and will recommend to my friends. Dont go with anyone but Madewell!

It rained at the end of the day and left marks on the driveway even though it was tarped. They were willing to redo the entire driveway but we settled with a significant discount that pleased both sides. One thing for sure - they are willing to make things right.

You need to be fully aware that Madewell's warranty does not include "shrinkage" cracks. A shrinkage crack is exactly what it sounds like. When the concrete dries it will contract and shrink. Cracks WILL happen, but if designed right the cracks will form in the seams that are added which intentionally create weak points for the cracks. The problem with my driveway is that I have a very long shrinkage crack (spans one full section and into the next) that formed away from a seam within three weeks of the initial pour. There is evidence that the slab was poured too thin where the crack formed (crack started at slab edge and you can see thickness is under 3") which is why it did not form in the seams. Madewell only offered to put some caulk like filler in the crack or to possibly cut out a thin strip of the concrete around the crack and re-pour a strip, which would create more seams and would likely not match in color, which they warned. I requested that they cut out the area inside the seams around the crack and re-pour that entire section. They were unwilling to do this even though the slab thickness is now in question. They claim if more cracks appear in this area they will revisit my warranty claim. Based on their warranty, they can decide when there is enough "shrinkage" cracks to want to re-pour a section for you. I think one long crack in three weeks should be enough.
