HVAC Cleaning Tech- Air Duct Cleaning

After reading the "F" review in Angie's list I checked Kudzu and found hundreds of 5 star ratings for this company, and everyone had nothing but great things to say about their service. I called the owner and discussed the Angie's list review with him and then decided to meet with him. He was very professional and interested in our particular needs, so we hired them, They showed up on time in a beautiful vacuum equipped truck, nicely dressed and they went about their work quickly and neatly. I cannot say enough good things about this company and I cannot understand how the person before me could have had such a bad experience when I and hundreds of others on Kudzu had totally positive experiences. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who wants their ac ducts cleaned. I will definitely call them again when I need more work done.

It was horrible. They really did a terrible job. First of all they didn't explain to me what it was they were doing and just started doing it. I told them I couldn't be here the whole time because it takes several hours to go through and do all of this. The guy on the phone told me that it was fine because they had some people who left their key with them while they were on vacation and they come in and do the work. They preferred to be gone. I asked him how they were going to find all the vents and he told me that they were used to doing it and that they would be great. I was here for a good part of the time they were here. My mother was here all day and my husband, I think, as they finished up. When I came back home, I looked and there were little piles of rubble and debris by every vent. They hadn't cleaned up. It was everywhere. It was on top of furniture if it was over, on the floors, on the walls that weren't over any furniture. The stuff was everywhere. They took several of the vents away. They didn't even leave them with us to see what size they were. There were no plans to do anything about covering holes. They had told my husband that there was mold on some of these vents and they couldn't properly clean them because they were painted so they were just taking them. We didn't know what a problem that was going to be until we had to figure it out. I wanted to know if they were coming back to put new vents on and they didn't say they would. I called them and they told me that was not a service they did. They didn't provide us with vents. Later I had to go and find the vents. They wrote down sizes of the vents but they were actually incorrect. They put down some measurements but they don't come in that size but they are close. You needed vents that were similar sized. It was just a real nightmare trying to find the vents. They left 6 big holes in my walls with no vents on them around the house. I called them to ask about not cleaning up and the guy said that it was their policy. He said that they did clean up after themselves and asked me if they hadn't done that. They were 2 young guys. I told him they didn't clean up and everywhere they worked there was a pile of rubble at every vent. I would have to wipe, vacuum, and sweep and it would take me hours to go around the house. He told me that they could send somebody out the next day. I was having company that night so I would have to do the cleaning that night itself and it wasn't going to help if somebody came out the next day. He wasn't that nice about it but he said he would talk to his guy who was out there. The guy, I think his name was Scott, called me back shortly after I got off the phone with the owner of the company. He apologized and said that he was with a new worker and he should have gone around and checked behind him and he didn't. He said he would come out the next day and clean up. I told him I was having people over and there was stuff everywhere. He told me that he would come out that night which was nice. He said he didn't have his truck any more so he would rent a shop-vac and come over and take care of it for me. I felt silly doing it, but I said fine and asked him to come out. At this point it was night time and there a storm started and the power went out. I called him and told him we had no power so he couldn't use the shop-vac. He apologized for it. They didn't come back and then what I discovered over the next week or two is that they missed entirely 2 vents. I think they were returns. They do both the return and the supply. They completely missed them. I could tell because obviously the cover hadn't even been taken off. They take them off, they clean the cover, and they clean whatever is inside. They entirely missed 2 of them. I just was so frustrated. I didn't call them back again to give them a chance to fix it because I was above my capacity to deal with it. It was a very frustrating experience for that kind of money to have such unprofessionalism. They were very expensive. They were mixed on responsiveness. They were nice to say they would come out, but I got a bit of attitude from the first guy I spoke with. He did offer to send someone the next day. The guy who was at my house himself, Scott who called back, was much nicer but the original person I spoke to gave me attitude. The one good thing was they scheduled me quickly. I was trying to get all the stuff done in a particular order and they slotted me in with little notice and got that worked out. I was getting it done when I wanted to without planning way in advance, but the experience itself was terrible. They were on time. At this point I don't think I would want them to come back at all. It's been such a long time. I didn't deal with it right away. I already went and found all the vents and I got someone to come and put them back on for me. I want them to know that I was very unhappy in that they missed some vents but I don't know that I actually would want them back here to resolve anything.
