HIGHLAND PAINT RESTORATION

I scheduled appointment for the day after phone call to have an estimate done. Received call a few hours before the scheduled time canceling appointment due to illness. Rescheduled again for the next day late in the afternoon. I waited 30 minutes past scheduled time and called. Madelyn answered phone and indicated she was at work but had forgotten about appointment. Said she could come in a short period time. I passed on the offer to schedule again. This review is not of her work. The rating is neutral since I was unable to meet Madelyn in 2 scheduled times. I had not contacted other painters for estimates because Madelyn had expertise and good reviews with historical homes. Lesson learned, don't trust the great reviews on Angie's List. Go ahead and schedule a bunch of people and see who shows up. I actually thought I could trust someone in this process and in return not have them in competition with a lot of other folks. Well that sure doesn't pay off.

Madelyn was extremely responsive and helpful. She worked very hard to rectify our problem. We trusted her enough to allow her to work in our home while we were out of town and returned home to find a beautifully finished product. After completion of the project, Madelyn followed up with us to ensure that we were satisfied with her services. We would use Madelyn again in the future.

I wanted her to paint over a mural using the paint I purchased. She told me it would take a few types of paint and primer to complete the work. I assured her it would work with the paint I purchased, but she disagreed. However, after she completed the work, she apologized and explained she will be using that paint for future jobs. Overall, I thought the service was good. I was unsure at first but in the end she was very nice and personable. She even followed up after the work.

Our experience with Madelyn was wonderful. She was committed to completing the painting that we wanted within the limited time frame before we moved into our new house. The work she did is exquisite, particularly with the elaborate molding in our dining room. Madelyn was very professional throughout, but also warm to our young children and helpful amidst the other projects going on around the house. I highly recommend Highland Paint Restoration.

I sent an email asking if they would restore a single window and they did not bother to respond. They advertize their window restoration.

Charles was incredibly prompt and specifice with his estimate. They were significantly less than the other quote I received as I believe the job was too small for the other firm. I met them in the morning and got them started. When I returned home the following day, they were completely done and cleaned up without a trace. Since they did such a great job, I want to get them back for more.

Not great. I was not interested in her politics or personal interests, yet she felt compelled to inform me. What she painted was actually fine, but she was reluctant to do anything additional that I brought up.

During the interview process, Highland Paint Restoration sounded very knowledgeable of the work that needed to be done. They gave some very helpful suggestions regarding what could be done to improve on the exterior stability of my unit. Regarding the project, I'm very pleased with the quality of the work that was performed. Also, they started and completed the job per the original schedule that they provided. I look forward to working with them in the future.

Madelyn was excellent to deal with in every way. Quality work. I will be calling them again in the future, for large painting requirements on my home, as well as my parent's. Highly recommended.

They were pretty backed up because they got a lot of response due to Angie's List ad. They were knowledgeable about talking through the latex based paint versus oil based paint. The woman who came was very knowledgeable. She had someone helping her. She was the person in charge and knowledgeable about why we would use this and that. We didn't have any problem scheduling the appointment. The deal was a painter for 16 hours, so she bought two people on half the time basis and we didn't bother. They did a good job and cleaned up well; but when their time was up, there was still a little bit more to do. They didn't complete the remaining work and it was approximately 30 minutes to finish the work. We had to do the remaining work. They did a great quality work. They were on time when they said they would be here. They should have gone an extra mile for the work. When we asked for another quote for some more work, we never got the quote. After she left, she was supposed to email us a quote, but she never did. The quality was good and the knowledge was good, but the follow through slashed. It was a great price for what they did. It took a while to get out here and schedule. We would consider using them.

Madelyn was prompt and professional. She got our job done on our timeline and on short notice. She is attentive to detail and conscientious. Any minor concerns were addressed immediately and satisfactorily. But don't take my word for the high quality of her work. We had a handyman come in last week and he asked if we had painted the place. I told him we had it painted and he said, "Well they did a good job." Take it from one who knows.

the paint job was flawless. however it did take a while before starting the job. But her super fast and efficient partner made up for that.

Update - Several days after this review they left messages about not getting messages from the website, or something like that (see their response to this review). I'll give them the benefit of the doubt based on the messages and their attempts to contact me, though a business should not have a contact page on the website if it is ignored or not working. Sent messages (to website contact info) to get an estimate for interior and exterior painting. No response at all from this company.

Arrived on time but did not start for 30 minutes. Did a high quality job. Very congenial and professional. Quit painting 30 minutes early than the time purchased.

Great experience from start to finish!

Job went great. Madelyn was very high quality and dependable. She came to the rescue on our timing and became a member of the family in the process. Highly recommend Highland Paint Restoration.

We needed a large amount of interior painting done and had requested quotes from six painters. We contacted Madelyn because of her excellent Angie's List reviews. She conducted a thorough inspection of the property, and in doing so made it clear that she is a painter who adheres to the highest standards of quality. She spoke about needing to do a lot of sanding and prep work to our walls - pointing out dings and imperfections that I hadn't noticed up until that point (and ones that I told her honestly wouldn't bother me if they were left in). It's clear that she takes a lot of pride in her work. Unfortunately for us, that high level of quality comes at a commensurate price - her quote was the highest of the six, and nearly double what we ended up paying another painter, who we were very happy with (though admittedly his crew didn't completely get rid of every little pockmark in every wall). If you need a particularly exacting painter and are able to pay more for it, Madelyn might be the one for you.

She was very good and knows her business well. We had her do more than the Deal covered, but she gave us a good price for that additional work. She is a very conscientious painter.

I had signed up for a big deal nearly a year ago and was approaching the expiration time. It was a relatively small job that I had in mind...one external wall with 3 cracks near fireplace & ceiling. It needed to be repaired. I didn't realize that the repairs would require as much work as they did...with several layers of spackling. It required a second day & a second trip. We agreed on an additional $100 to return the second day to finish the project including painting of the wall. She had done trim on the wall and the window trim on day 1. I was very pleased with the end result. I was very pleased with Madelyn's care, professionalism, and skill. I would use her again and recommend her. I was delighted with the end result. In addition, she used her time and material well ...and went the extra mile. With a little spackle left, she asked if I had any other areas where it might be used. In additional i found her delightful to have working in my home.

This was our second time using Madelyn and, again, she did a great job. Our house is 80 years old and previous homeowners painted many coats over wallpaper. It is too much for us to take it all out, so we've had to paint over the wallpaper too. Over time, however, the wallpaper has puckered, cracked and pulled away from the wall. This happened a lot in the bedroom but Madelyn scraped and patched and it looks great. We're planning on using Madelyn again soon to paint another bedroom and bathroom.

This is the ONLY painting company we will use. They are proven, professional and top notch. Always a pleasure doing business with Highland Paint Restoration!

Painter arrived and recognized me as someone who'd had their company bid on a job that they hadn't gotten about a year or so previously. Commented about that in a chatty manner. Was asking painter to paint woodwork. Woodwork in our older house had been a yellowish-tan color, and I have been slowly painting all woodwork the traditional white. Asked painter to use white paint to paint woodwork in a bedroom that had louvered doors. Painter warned me that one coat of paint would not be adequate, that result would appear "streaky" and that two coats were recommended. I acknowledged that, and work began. It was a rather cloudy day and I offered a work light. Painter refused, saying natural light was better to work with. After job was complete - and on the next day which was sunny - there were areas on the louvers that had been totally missed. I was applying the second/top coat of paint myself, anyhow, so knew that I needed to repaint, but was surprised at how several patches of louver had been missed. I didn't see it on the cloudy day, either. Painting was done in a professional manner; no drips noted, borders neat.

Do hire them for painting, carpentry, window pane replacement, etc. I highly recommend them and will use them again.

Bought a coupon for 2 painters for 8 hours - absolutely perfect work. Very nice lady owns the business...use them.

Amazingly well! Was able to schedule exactly when I needed them. They showed up on time every day, worked quickly/efficiently and were able to do the whole house (4 bedrooms, 3 baths, living room, dining room, kitchen, study) in 5 working days. Impressive.
