Madelyn Posey was great about returning my call (she had to persist to reach me). She showed up promptly to walk through on the estimate. She seems like a really professional and nice person. She provided an estimate for my interior painting job. In the end, I did not go with Highland Restoration because I got another, slightly lower, bid from a company also recommended to me and available to start immediately. The immediate start was important. Next time we need painting, I will call Highland Restoration again.

The finished product was beautiful. Multiple bids were taken from several companies. Highland Paint was very competitive for the work that we were requesting to have done. The price was very reasonable. The company's experience in working with older/ historic homes really stood out. Madelyn, the owner/operator of Highland Paint, went the extra mile and noticed other improvement opportunities such as opening up previously painted-shut windows. She also had good suggestions on the types of paint best used for the condition and the age of our house. Based on here knowledge and experience in working with older homes she saved us money by suggesting alternative paint options that other contractors were unnecessarily pushing. The detail and quality of workmanship was excellent. It was challenging at times organizing painting and staining regarding timing as other projects were being completed as well. Furthermore, due to an addition/ screen in area of our porch which was completed by another company, timing and addition projected cost were somewhat challenging to predict. With good communication and updates, it all had worked out nicely in the end. As with any contractor or vendor, it is very important to spell out exactly what needs to be done in a contract, because detail can be forgotten by both parties if it is not signed and in writing. I highly recommend Highland Paint for your painting, staining, and related repairs. We would gladly use Highland Paint again.

I called to schedule an appointment with her to get an estimate. It was confirmed twice over the phone and she did not show up for the appointment or call to explain why she could not come over.

Madelyn came over to give us an estimate to get the exterior of our house painted. She was extremely knowledgeable about painting older homes (ours was built in 1920). She was on time, has a great sense of humor, and was very professional. She even encouraged us to make sure we got other estimates. As she walked around our home, we was able to easily identify rotted and split boards that were going to have to be replaced during this project. We were very impressed with her. Although we didn't end up using her (only b/c we decided to use someone who had done some work for us previously), we would highly recommend her to anyone. Her prices were right on with other estimates, but compared to some other companies we got estimates from, her knowledge & thoroughness was above par.

I'm so glad I found this company! I was looking for a small company that would do quality work with attention to detail and personalized service, and definitely found it here. Madelyn promptly returned my initial call and was willing to come out and meet with me on a short time line, starting the job right away so the front of the house could be done before a holiday party. She kept me posted on unexpected hangups when she encountered them, like the surprise plaster. I loved that she did not cut corners, and treated my house like her own. The house was so clean every day! Everything was cleaned up and put in place at the end of the day so I could continue to live in and use all the rooms. Also a dog lover, so that was a plus. Took a little longer than I'd expected (about 2 1/2 weeks), but I didn't care since the work was going so well. She had very helpful expertise to tackle problem areas, as well as helpful suggestions regarding paint finish choices. Used low VOC paint at my request, but let me know when the low VOC options would not work as well (like in trim and repair areas); was very considerate of my sensitivity to dust and paint fumes.

As mentioned early, I spoke to a good number of painters prior to choosing Highland Paint. Although all had positive reviews on Angie's List, only Madelyn had the experience (and determination) that I felt was needed to get an older home painted correctly. She was also very understanding to work with my desire to balance 'cost versus benefit,' putting the elbow grease (and dollars) where needed but still doing a bang up job on less visible areas of the house. Bottom line, she is great to work with and her work is excellent!

She was very straight-forward and practical and knowledgeable about old house painting.

They are very easy to work with, they have good promptness, we have an old house that is huge and they are very good about it. I feel that I am getting my moneys worth out of them.

Excellent!!! Although she was not the lowest bidder, I hired Madelyn for her willingness to work with me on developing the perfect paint colors. Her "eye" for color was excellent. She also provided advice on the imperfections in the front door that would adversely affect the final appearance of the paint. She worked with the developer to resolve that issue. Because of the extra time she took to paint the trim (3 coats instead of 2), she was finishing the job the day I was moving in. She volunteered to clean the hardwood floors (not related to painting) because I was tied up supervising the movers. She went above and beyond from the very beginning until after the job was completed. I recommended her to the real estate agent who is marketing other units in the building. She agreed with my assessment of Madelyn's skills and she has referred her to other owners.

Madelyn and I discussed what needed to be done regarding an exterior paint job on an older home with wood siding. The siding had several areas that were rotted. The remaining siding and windows had large areas where the paint was peeling extensively. After I replaced the rotted siding and made other needed repairs, Madelyn arrived with helper and introduced him to me. He was a very good worker and it was obvious he wanted to do a good prep job. He stayed on the job and didn't waste time. The home was pressure washed prior to scraping to remove dust,cobwebs,etc. The job was started on Tuesday and completed on Friday. This job was not a total restoration with ALL the old paint being removed, just the loose paint. Be clear up front with what type prep will be done prior to painting and how the prep will be done. Example (will loose paint be removed with hand scrapers vs using power equipment) The cost of the job is impacted by the procedure used and the extent of the paint removed.

Madalyn is an incredible painter. She specializes in restoring old homes to their former glory. She showed up for the estimate and did a walk through. She answered all my questions and gave an estimate on the spot which was very reasonable. She showed up for the work and it was obvious she is a professional. She found several areas that she had not seen before because of furniture being in front of it. We renegotiated and she got to work. It was a beautiful job and she is very meticulous. I would recommend her to anyone.

It went very well. I was amazed at how much time they spent prepping everything: spackling holes, patching walls and ceilings and sanding areas. We live in an older house, about 70 years old and it looked rough. I think most painters would not have taken the time they did to prep everything. A lot of companies would just come in, fill a few holes and start painting. All the effort paid off as the final work looked great. This is the first contractor we found through Angie's List and we are very happy.

The work went quite well. Ms. Posey, the owner, came on the first day to ensure that things got off smoothly. The foreman showed up with several more workers than expected and, as a result, the work was done in half the time. The foreman was a perfectionist, and polite to the extreme. With one exception, we were made aware of extra charges when they arose, and we were willing to chalk that one incident up to it being our first experience at having this type of work done. He let us know how long it would take, & was present to answer any other questions we had as well as to manage the workmen. The workers were polite, diligent, and thorough. Once the work was completed, Ms. Posey arrived for a walk-through to ensure that the work was done to our specifications. It was. We enjoyed a celebratory beer, and thanked her for the professionalism that she, her foreman, & her workers demonstrated on this job. Madelyn made a special effort to get our work completed on time, which we appreciate.

Madelyn was very professional and devoted to excellence! She did everything she said she would do in a very timely manner. I would hire her again in a heartbeat and will also use the other contacts she provided, especially her roofer and handyman.

They have done many things for me in the past, like full outdoor painting around my home, as well as these two standard sized rooms indoors. They are excellent painters and the price, although I do not wish to show it at this time, was excellent. I highly recommend them and will only use them when I have a need for it.

I could not tell anyone was working at my house because it was so clean everyday when I got home from work. Also, I never had to ask or go back over anything we had talked about,she knew exactly how to get the job done without further questions.

Highland painters are some of the best painters we have ever hired to do work for us. They are very clean, professional and didn t hesitate to answer any questions we had. We liked their punctuality and the price was excellent. One thing that stuck out with us about them was the fact that they went out of their way to work on a Sunday when the shop we own was closed. This was very convenient for us. This goes to show you how professional they really are.

You never know what to expect with painters, so imagine my surprise when a human answered the phone! As my questions were answered, I was pleased with the professionalism in the questions asked of me. I asked for an estimate, and right on time, there they were. They spent a lot of time checking the trim and seeing exactly how many layers were on there and what would be the best approach for making it look new again. "It's all in the prep work", I was told. After the prep, the painting is the easy part. The prep paid off in spades! My trim looks like new and I am very happy with the results. My neighbors are green with envy, and I like that!

A real person answered the phone! I liked that, even though the owner explained that sometimes you would need to leave a message, but calls were returned promptly. Indeed, calls were returned, questions answered and the crew was on time every time. The quality of the work was top notch and I am thrilled.
