+ -1 moreI have been paying the "equipment protection" plan from Geek Squad since I have first purchased a cell phone for my son in 2012. We have used it a few times and it worked well. My son upgraded his phone this last March and decided to continue with the protection plan ( monthly fee of $ 9.99) but after taking his phone to Geek Squad for repair due to a damage made in its glass, he found that a deductible of close to $150 was required to get the phone fixed. I called Geek Squad today and was informed that the policy has changed and that information could be found in their home page. From my end, I decided not to pay the deductible (and keep the cell phone as is) and cancelled the protection plan but wonder how many other consumers may still be contributing to find out later, when a repair is needed, that a deductible is required on the top of all that have already been contributed over the years.
Description of Work: Contrary to previous experience and our expectations we were quite disappointed to find out that a change in the terms and conditions of the "equipment protection plan" from Geek Squad has been changed ( a deductible of close to $150 has now been established) without prior communication to the consumers that pay for this on a monthly basis.

+ -1 moreAt first all seemed to work as expected. After three weeks, however, the printer no longer works. Work is only covered for ten days. The company has been unresponsive. They want to charge another $149.00 to come out and do the same work they did before with no assurance that it will work for more than ten days again.

+ -1 moreThey were very helpful and very professional. It took about 20-30 minutes over the phone to fix the problem. The $20 charge is actually good for a year, so I can call them again for a problem in the future and they will help me out at no extra charge.
Description of Work: They were actually able to walk me through the problem. They would have come out the next day, if I couldn't get the problem corrected, but since we were able to fix it this way, there was just a nominal charge of about $20 for their services.

+ -1 moreThis company does not want to honor its warranty. Their customer service personnel are worthless. No one gives you a name or badge number. No one takes responsibility for anything. DO NOT do business with this company!
Description of Work: Geek Squad set up a wireless home network for me. They gave me a pass-code to provide when I called to schedule the appointment. They could not find me in their scheduling system so I was given the run around for an entire day just to get an appointment set up--and I had already paid for the service via a website! Although I identified five specific files that I wanted networked, ALL files on my desktop system were made accessible on the network. Secondly, my "Save As" function for documents stopped responding whenever I tried to save a document. I have had home networks set up by other companies, and I have never had these problems. I called their 800 number since all work is under warranty for 30 days. I was given the run around and handed from one person to the next for two days before they finally agreed to send another agent out to my house. Then I was threatened with additional charges if the "Save As" problem is not related to whatever their technician did while setting up the network.

+ -1 moreThey were phenomenal. It cost me quite a bit of money, but they were really excellent. It took them about a week to come around. This was rather unfortunate but he arrived on time. He was very polite and knowledgeable. My computer is working great!
Description of Work: My new computer started running very slow and unorganized, due to a software problem. They had to reset my whole computer, and they did the work in my home. He was here for 3-4 hours.

+ -1 moreI was pretty impressed with the Geek's. I mean, they could have told me a ton of stuff was wrong with my son's computer and I probably would not have known the difference because I try and avoid those machines when I can. Instead, they were honest and they even managed to recover the assignments he thought he had lost forever. I thought that was great. I would definitely use them again. I also was pretty happy that it only took them a day to do the work; I know they get busy over there and are pretty popular.
Description of Work: I took my son's computer to the Geek's because he said the computer was basically shutting off on him after every fifteen minutes and he had lost a few assignments he had been doing for school. As I recall they did not have to replace parts on the computer, but they figured out what was going on to cause the problem and basically just charged us labor time. I think I paid them sixty dollars or less in full.

+ -1 moreGeek Squad arrived on time and the guy knew what he was doing. He was very reliable and kept his word about the price and what he would do. It only took him a couple of hours to finish and my computer works great now. They have fantastic customer service.

Description of Work: The hard drive on my PC was giving me a whole lot of problems. The Geek Squad rectified everything for me in a few hours by servicing it and replacing some parts.
