Fulton Paving Company, Inc.

We were looking for a company to expand our single car driveway to a two-car driveway. I contacted several companies to get estimates. I called Fulton Paving and described what I needed. Unlike, the other companies, they did not come out to see our property but sent us an estimate based on our verbal description. That should have been a clue for us that this was not going to go well. Also, it took three phone calls to get the estimate. Once we received the estimate I called Gene and explained again the curb would have to be demoed to widen the driveway and he said he understood and the project was a small one and wouldn't take much time. I felt the need to tell him this again because his estimate was much lower than the other companies. I stated this on two separate occasions. Well, after we got approval from our HOA, I contacted Fulton Paving to schedule a time to get the work done. They initially stated they would come out on Friday, May 17th. Rain was predicted, so they understandably cancelled. However, we had to call them several times in order for them to tell us this. They rescheduled to come out on Tuesday, May 22nd at 11:00 AM. My husband took off from work to be there to meet the workers. At 11:35 no one had shown up or called. My husband called them only to be told that the worker was on Candler Road lost but on the way. Now we live in Hampton, he had the address, and should have had GPS. By 12:30 the workers still weren't there and when my husband called back he was told the worker went to a graduation and they were on the way. At 1:30 still know workers and my husband was told they would be there and would get the project done that day. They understood the criticalness and that we were dealing with an HOA. Yet their attitude remained nonchalant and unprofessional. At 2:30, I called the company to express my tremendous disappointment at their unprofessional behavior. The person apologized and stated the worker has been stuck in traffic. I asked her if he was coming from South Carolina, because there was no way it would take over four hours to get from Candler Road to the Lovejoy area of Hampton. Needless-to-say, she continued to make excuses for the behavior and said they would be there. Well, they showed up at 4:30, had nothing needed to do the job, claimed the scope of the work was different from what they thought, blah, blah, blah. By this time, we were so disgusted that my husband sent them on their way. We went with one of the other three companies that provided us an estimate. Their price was higher, but they were reliable, professional, and provided us with what we needed in a timely an excellent manner. DO NOT waste your time with Fulton Paving Company!!!!
