I have been using them for a while and have always been happy with them. I have a regular maintenance contract which is about $95 a year and another contract which I think is $145 a year where they change the filters and so forth. My experience with them has always been excellent. I work odd hours and therefore I leave my keys for them. They come over and take care of the maintenance. I have no problem with them being in my house when I am not there.
Description of Work: I use Estes for my heating and air conditioning needs. I have a maintenance contract with them and they regularly do maintenance checks for me which includes the ones in spring and winter.

Called in morning and they said they would be there between 12-5. They Called before they came and they were actually running ahead of time and came at 11:30. Professional serviceman that quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem.

They were extremely knowledgeable during the sales process. It is a very complicated decision and they were the most knowledgeable technically. They proposed a system that actually met our needs. They zeroed in on what we needed and wanted. The installation and start up systems were incredible. In and out in one day. This is a 1950's home that had a central unit retrofitted, Subsequent renovations cut off a few of the returns and supplies. The equipment has fine, but the duct system was not sufficient to circulate air properly. They replaced part of the ducts and rebalanced the airflow. By changing airflow in a few rooms and adding several outlets and returns. Work was done promptly and well. They weren't the cheapest quote, but the proposed solution seemed to make more sense, and solved the problem. Completely satisfied with their service.
Description of Work: They did an evaluation of HVAC system because it was not heating and cooling properly. Installed new ducts to about 1/2 the house and added several outlets and returns.

I discussed the repairs needed with a service manager, who described in various detail what would be done. After the work was completed, I called back to ask for an invoice describing completion of the items which had been mentioned, and was sent only a job description invoice with the words "Install Heil Coil." I asked again about drip pan and shut off pump triggered by overflow and was sent a package containing operating instructions, venting tables, installer's information manual, limited warranty document, and parts list, none of which seem to mention the details I had requested. At this point, I gave up.
Description of Work: First, the technician identified several reasons for poor cooling performance of my upstairs unit, then returned an estimate for definitive repairs. Thereafter, he replaced several parts of the upstairs uint functioning coil.

THE PROBLEM REPORTED TO US WAS THAT THE SYSTEM WAS NOT COOLING PROPERLY. UPON INSPECTION WE FOUND A LARGE PIECE OF FURNITURE BLOCKING A RETURN GRILL THAT WAS RESTRICTING THE AIR FLOW. WE ALSO FOUND THAT THE DRAIN PAN IN THE EVAPORATOR COIL WAS LEAKING WATER INTO AN AUXILIARY PAN. WE RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE COIL. WE GAVE HIM A VERY FAIR ESTIMATE AND HE ACCEPTED OUR PROPOSAL. There was no project since they never returned my calls.
Description of Work: There were no services performed because I could not get the company to call me back to set up a date for an estimate. I called them twice, 4 days apart. Both times the receptionist told me someone would call me back, and neither call produced a return call. In an effort to be fair and provide the whole picture, this is a follow-up to previous report. After the previous report on the original visit, I scheduled a visit with a salesman who was professional, thorough, and credible. My reasons for not continuing with Estes were mainly two: timing--the salesman was anticipating being unavailable for a few days; and the fact that another proposal included several code-related installation requirements that were not mentioned (although Estes did mention one or two). I maintain an overall rating of 'Fair', because this experience was in line with--but did not exceed--expectations. I raised professionalism rating to 'Good' because I received a personal note from the company owner expressing goodwill after my previous review. These factors don't change the facts of my initial impressions, however, and the summary of these two reviews comprise my whole assessment. In this report, I changed my 'would refer' response to 'Yes' because of the experience with the salesman and would qualify any referral according to my previous report.

I called at 11 am and was told a service person would be here between 12 and 5. He arrived at 2:45. I called because the evaporation unit was leaking all over my basement floor. I knew the drain was working because I checked it myself, so knew the problem was inside the unit. The tech didn't pay attention or didn't hear any of this as I explained it, or chose to go through diagnostic procedure regardless of explanation. (Unit was cooling fine, just flooding basement.) He looked for less than a minute inside the unit and suggested 'either the drain pan or evaporator coil is cracked', which I knew already. He did not investigate further to determine which or approximately where or to what extent. He did not offer price estimates on these repairs without prompting. He did not indicate interest or suggest options to repair; he instead, after about five minutes of diagnosis, recommended I replace the unit and charged $89 for the expert opinion and house call. (I was not previously notified that any visit would cost $89 minimum.) He then said he sent a text message to a salesperson who would contact me. "Today?" I asked (at about 3pm), being without functioning AC. "I don't know about today," he said. So, $89 to tell me I need a new unit and send a text to a salesman: what a racket. I asked if I could get the charge for his visit backed out of any new unit price (knowing full well the price will be jacked to compensate for it anyway.) He said, "Maybe half." Hard to get excited about $45 savings on what will likely be a $3500 bill. I received the sales call at 7:30pm and am glad the salesman called after hours. Whether he did so because of sensitivity to my being without AC, I do not know, but I'm glad to be moving the process along, in any case. I will submit a separate report on sales and installation, should it proceed.
Description of Work: Service tech attached pressure/temp gages to outside air conditioner unit to diagnose. Had he asked any diagnostic questions, he'd have known the temp and pressure were fine and that the problem was a leaking evaporator in the basement. He came in and checked drain line pressure (using compressed air), which I had already determined was fine. Opened evaporator unit panel and looked inside for about 30 seconds.

OUR TECHS ARE TRAINED TO GO THROUGH CERTAIN DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES TO DETERMINE PROBLEMS. UNLIKE THIS PERSON, ALL CUSTOMERS ARE NOT ABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THEIR HEATING AND AIR PROBLEMS. I THINK OUR MAN WAS JUST DOING HIS JOB. THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A LEAKING DRAIN PAN INSIDE THE EVAPORATOR WHICH REQUIRED A COIL REPLACEMENT RATHER THAN A REPAIR BUT THERE ARE OTHER THINGS THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE WATER LEAK SUCH AS THE COIL FREEZING UP, PLUGGED DRAIN LINE, ETC. WE DID GIVE THIS CUSTOMER A PRICE TO REPLACE THE COIL AND HE MUST HAVE PURCHASED IT FROM ANOTHER CONTRACTOR. IF HE HAD BOUGHT THE COIL FROM US WE WOULD HAVE GIVEN HIM CREDIT FOR THE COST OF THE SERVICE CALL. WHEN HE PLACED THE ORIGINAL CALL OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE REP SHOULD HAVE INFORMED HIM OF THE MINIMUM CHARGE. IT WOULD BE HIGHLY UNUSUAL IF THEY DID NOT.I'M SORRY THIS CUSTOMER IS NOT HAPPY WITH ESTES AND I HOPE WE GET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO BE OF SERVICE TO HIM. SINCERELY, TOMMY ESTES

When I called in my problem, Estes dispatched a repairman right away. I understood there would be a minimum service call fee, and agreed. The repairman arrived withing the hour, and I had my roommate explain the problem to him, and I signed a check in advance for his services, leaving out the amount. The repairman identified a plumbing pipe disconnection, near the A/C unit, as the source of the leak, and determined the ac unit to be functioning well. He charged me only the service call fee. Now, I can proceed to have the dry wall damage repaired.
Description of Work: I had a leak in the ceiling beneath the upstairs air conditioning unit, which I attributed to the A/C unit's backing up. This had previously been addressed several days earlier by a different A/C company, but the problem continued.

We called Estes on Sunday morning, and they sent a service rep to fix the problem on Sunday afternoon. Cornell, our service rep, was friendly and professional. He confirmed that the AC had simply not been maintained properly and fixed the problem quickly by adding freon and cleaning the coils. We agreed to sign up for a one-year maintenance contract to avoid this problem in the future, and the $200 we paid for Cornell's visit includes that contract. Also, because the system is relatively new, Cornell indicated that we needed only the very basic maintenance contract and did not try to sell us any of the higher-priced ones.
Description of Work: We noticed early one week that our AC was not cooling properly, and we didn't know if it was a big problem or our failure to do routine maintenance. We had scheduled a service call with another company for the following week, but by Saturday, we could not bear the heat.

I received and estimate over the phone and scheduled my appointment then. Their price is very fair and a flat rate which I liked. The worker showed up on time and worked diligently until the work was complete. He cleaned all the leaves and debris from the units, changed filters, and power washed the units, in addition to other activities involved in servicing a AC unit. They tried to sell us a maintenance agreement at the end but was not interested since my unit only need to be serviced every 2 years and it was more expensive to get the service agreement than to just get my unit serviced every 2 years.
