this has been one of the most horrific business experiences of my life. A cable installer put "Clear" in our house in South Atlanta. I knew nothing about it, but needed Internet service in our new home. It never worked at an acceptable level. We tried moving the receiver to different parts of our house and it never made much of a difference. When we called customer service, on multiple occasions, they treated us like we were a bunch of dolts who had to be making a mistake on our end. I finally gave up and decided to do a test by installing Comcast Internet in the house and had a night / day experience. The Comcast was vastly superior. After a month of trying both, my wife called Clear to cancel the service. The "customer service" rep, who never deviated from script, told my wife that she had to be mistaken, please accept a free month, but since it wasn't me (husband), that she had no ability to cancel the service. When I called back a few weeks later to cancel the service, they insisted that I was not "me" because I didn't know the name of the high school I graduated from (remember, I didn't do the signing up). No matter how many times I asked to speak to a supervisor, to prove that I am who I said I was, the customer service rep would not leave the script and I gave up in frustration. I called American Express and had them block the payment and send them a letter hoping this would wake them up. Yes it did. The Robot calls have been non stop. I've called customer service, asked to speak to supervisors to no avail. The representatives I've talked to have confirmed that they see that we tried to cancel in May, 2011. It is now October 2011. I have called AT&T and blocked phone numbers, I have called them back to be left on hold. They have said they were transferring me and left me on hold or cut me off. After what I thought was some success this weekend, I received a message from a supervisor saying that yes they had record of us trying to cancel, but that there service is superior, they would give me a free month (for a service that doesn't work and we quit using 6 months ago), but since when we called I didn't know what high school I graduated from my request was being denied. Now they are also claiming that they have a contract. Really? This is a joke. No matter how many phone numbers I block, they robot call 10 times a day. The internet did not work, but their phones certainly do. Someone please make this 1950's style mafia shakedown go away!!!!!!
