I dropped off my German wall clock to have the case and inner workings fixed. After three months--not a word--I dropped by one day to see how things were going. The men couldn't find the clock. I noticed it behind the counter on the floor. It was in worst shape than when I'd dropped it off three months ago. I said that I would take it so no further damage occurred. The man disappeared into the back room for 20 mins. Then he presented the clock to me with the workings in a box! And the case still falling apart. Although this was totally unacceptable, there was no apology nor further help offered. they couldn't fix it so they kept it for three months and dismantled it!!! Don't go.

Michael was very professional in evaluating the extense of repairs on 2 antique wall clocks. He provided budget friendly options on repairs of the clocks, for me to make a final decision. I was not in a rush for the repairs, and he managed to complete the repairs before my absolute deadline. I would highly recommend this shop for repairs and the support they provide for any emotional items you are considering to keep. They have the historical background of device and manufacturing materials used during that period. Informative and great experience.

Super! They fixed th problem and told me it didn’t need cleaning and it cost $120 less than expected. It did take awhile because it took quite some time to figure out what was wrong. They allowed it to hang on the wall and several times it stopped long before expected. So they would look at it again. They took the time to fix it properly. I had it in several times before at other shops and they would say it was fixed, but it would stop and they would tell me it was how I wound it. Can’t say enough good things about Bower’s.
Description of Work: I had an antique wall clock which would not run. I thought I had overwound it. They agreed to check it out and clean if necessary. A price was quoted and I accepted.

In addition to completing the work on time and for a little less than originally quoted, Mr. Bowers gave me a history lesson about the clock. This lesson further enriches this sentimentally priceless clock for me.
Description of Work: My great-grandmother's kitchen clock (we call it a mantle clock) needed to be cleaned up, the glass needed to be re-set (luckily the glass had not broken), and the chimes needed to match the hour.

Our mantle clock, which needed major repairs was done in an hour, and 3 of the watches returned to us in minutes. Great business-- we'll be going there from now on! Last time I got the mantle clock done I was charged twice the price and it took 6 weeks to get the clock back! This was outstanding service, where we were taught the ins and outs of our clocks and watches.
Description of Work: We brought 2 pocket watches, 2 wrist watches, and a mantle clock in for service. This included contemporary pieces and antiques.

The job took about 4 weeks to complete. I told Mr. Thomas that the length of time taken to inspect it wasn't important, but it was important that the clock be thoroughly inspected and cleaned. The inspection was completed at their store location. At an agreed time (one month after Mr. Thomas' visit), I called to see if the work was completed. Michael Bowers (Thomas' son) answered in the affirmative and asked (actually suggested) that Mr. Thomas could be at the house within a 2 hr. timeframe to reinstall the clock's inner workings and review a checklist to get it properly set. He showed up in under two hours, we had a great discussion about the piece, payed him and he left me with a clock that was exceptionally repaired and working. The Bowers are masters at what they do and they treat you as if you are a part of their family. I would highly, highly recommend them for ANY clock repair and plan to use them exclusively for watch, clock? and of course? grandfather clock repair.
Description of Work: Provided service on a +220 year old grandfather clock (8 day movement; counter weight) which was given to me by my parents; huge emotional attachment for me because I grew up with the clock and it always kept perfect time. The clock had not been properly serviced in over +30 years. It sat idle in our dining room for @ 8 years, not running at all. I thought it may be a lost cause, but called Bowers to see if someone could come out and inspect it. Thomas, the patriarch of the business, came out to inspect. Within five minutes of review, he saw that the pendulum was hung incorrectly. He had it running within 2 minutes! I was amazed. He explained their cleaning service for the inner works, told me what they would do, what it would cost to do it. His final sales pitch was "of course, the clock will tell you if it needs the cleaning"… no hard sale, just an admirable statement of fact. Given the time parameters of its last service, I thought it would be fitting to have the inner workings inspected, cleaned and up to snuff. Mr. Thomas left with my timepiece.

Customer service was fast and courteous. The battery replacements were performed on the spot within 15 mins. My only concern was that 3 of the 5 watches were noticeably scratched during the repair process. I would recommend going somewhere else that may take a little more care in their workmanship.

He opened it up and said whoever worked on it last replaced the battery and didn't put the protective sheath over it, so that's why it was acting. He took it apart and replaced the battery and got it working again. It was amazing.

It's not often that someone provides a service and doesn't charge you for it, but that's what I got at Bower's Watch & Clock Repair. I took my wife's antique art deco watch to Bower's to see if they could fix the top cover of the casing which had come loose and fallen off (gasp!) a couple of times. Not sure how it wasn't lost when that happened, but thankfully my wife was able to find it. We'd had the watchmaker at the store we bought it from look at it, but he wasn't able to permanently solve the problem. Anyhow, I left the watch with the guys at Bower's and although initially they weren't sure they would be able to solve the problem either, I got a call about a week later saying that the watch was ready to pick up. Turns out that the problem wasn't in the top of the case, but rather in the bottom of the case which needed a small adjustment so that the watch unit itself sat inside the casing properly. I was expecting to pay these guys something for their time of course, but they wouldn't take my money for what they said was such a minor thing. Minor for them maybe, but major for me. I appreciate the care and attention to detail that they demonstrated in fixing this watch. Take your clock or watch there the next time it needs service and I'm sure you will agree with me.

This is a very friendly, professional company who were very accomodating. I was very pleased with the experience of dealing with them.
Description of Work: Brought in four watches that were all not working. One had been looked at by another large retail company who said they replaced the battery and the watch still did not work. They said they could not give me an estimate of what the repair might cost. Bowers replaced the battery in all four and got them working perfectly. The work was done on the spot and at a cost of $25.00. I believe these people know what they are doing and I would definitely recommend them highly.

I bought the clock used, and I didn't know how to use it or if it needed service. He spent about a half hour showing me how to wind it. It didn't need any service. I walked out with a clock that worked. He provided an educational service. He took the time to help me at no charge. They are very reputable and personable.
Description of Work: He checked my mantle clock and showed me how to use it.
