It went fine. We put N/A on the price rating because we have no basis of comparison. They were professional and transparent. We would use them again.

After five estimates for either repairing my leaking dormer windows or replacing my failing roof by five highly-recommended roofers, I chose Bell Roofing, because Charlie Bell was the most honest and forthright, the only roofer who identified accurately the reason for my leaks, and the only roofer to identify the appropriate venting for my house. All others proposed ridge venting, which may be ideal, but only if your house has soffit vents. Mine does not. I researched and came to understand that Charlie was right and that ridge venting for my house was a bad idea. Charlie?s professionalism and expertise gave me confidence that my roof would be done right. Then there?s Donna, undoubtedly the most helpful person I have ever encountered in any business situation. She is very professional, knowledgeable, personable. She worked hard to accommodate every need, answer every question. If she didn?t know the answer, she?d go get it and report back. I found choosing a shingle color difficult. It was important to Donna that I be happy with my new roof! Twice she suggested that I postpone the install date, and I did, because I wasn?t enthusiastic about any color. She worked hard to research and find new colors for me to consider and to find more addresses of houses with those shingle colors for me to go see. When I began to feel like a pain in the neck, She consistently and promptly returned my phone calls, and she was incredibly patient, always pleasant, always seemed happy to hear from me. Donna is THE BEST. She shared the experience and made it enjoyable. The roof installation itself went smoothly and well. It was a 2 ½ day job. Workers arrived between 8 and 8:30 each day and worked hard. Carlos, the very experienced on-site supervisor, was earnest, hard-working, and did a great job. The cleanup was great, and my roof looks perfect. I ENTHUSIASTICALLY RECOMMEND BELL ROOFING!

We had a leak in our rook at the site of a recent addition. after the initial quote i was told that there was inadequate flashing around the pitch change and a skylight. the quote was for $185 including all labor and materials. the day after the initial repairs a storm system came through with 2 days of non-stop heavy downpours. unfortunately the leak was still there with no change. i called Bell roofing and spoke to Donna who was amazingly helpful. they had someone out the next day and after a quick inspection it was discovered that there was a miscommunication on their end between the guy who did the quote and the guy who did the work regarding where specifically the leak was resulting in repairs being made to a spot that didn't have a leak. the serviceman repaired the correct location right away. even though technically double work was done and they did in fact reenforce another potential problem area Bell roofing stuck with the initial quote without my even having to discuss the issue. Their integrity, great work and fair pricing are certainly a rarity, not just in the this industry but any business i've dealt with. I would highly recommend bell roofing to anyone who needs any kind of roofing work done, from minor repairs to full roof replacements.

We needed to have our roof replaced. Steve came to the house measured the roof and spoke to us about the different products. We had other offers and chose to go with Bell Roofing. We were very pleased with the outcome. They even replaced some siding on the front of the house. Because we couldn't make up our minds about the product we were considering, Donna gave us a few houses to view which made it easier to choose.

This contractor was highly recommended based on Angie's List, so I expected an honest and fair experience. However, I found that their quoting system was a little vague and unclear. When I compared their quote with another that I had, they were cheaper, but when I got the invoice at the end, they were higher. The difference was that the materials/labor of replacing the plywood decking was not included in their price, even though the line item was included in the quote. In the end, I was told that it should have been clear from the quote that this would be a surcharge at the end. I have pasted the info below, so you can draw your own conclusions on whether or not I'm just naive. The main point of contention was line item #2. Although they were easy to work with and did a reasonably good job, it's hard to be completely happy when you end up paying ~30% more than you thought you would. I'm not saying that you shouldn't trust these guys, I'm just saying that you have to be aware that these misunderstandings can happen when people don't give enough detail in their quotes. I decided to offer to meet in the middle ($1600) because I really do think they did a good job. After a couple of conversations with Charles Bell, it was clear that he was adamant that there was no way to discount the invoice in any way, because his profit margin was so slim on such a small job. Instead, I paid the entire total on the invoice. Start Quote === We propose the following on your roof: (1) Remove all roofing down to wood deck at front porch. (2) Plywood to be installed at $45.00 per sheet. (3) Ice and water barrier to be installed to entire roof deck. (4) Install 25 yr. 3 tab shingles to entire roof deck. (5) Payment due upon job completion. (6) 1 year workmanship warranty. Total - $1,220.00 Payment Due Upon Completion. === End Quote After getting the quote, there was some email correspondence about changing the 1/2" plywood for 3/4" plywood. I was told that the cost per sheet would be $20 higher ($65 instead of $45). During this conversation, I still never got the message that the whole cost would be on top of the total in the quote. Thus, I was expecting an invoice for $1400. Start Invoice === Repair 1,220.00 Wood Replac... Replaced 9 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood 9x65.00 585.00 Payment Please make all checks payable to Charles S. Bell Total $1,805.00 === End Invoice I had some conversations with my friend (whose stepdad is a contractor) and my stepdad, who works with contractors regularly as a building inspector. I costed out the job on my side using Home Depot prices for materials, and it looked like a payment of $1600 would have allowed for a nice profit. Keep in mind that contractors don't pay Home Depot prices for materials and probably don't pay $15/hour for labor, either. I'm putting my math in here so you can decide for yourself if I missed anything: Start My Cost Estimate === 30 hours of labor (@$15/hour): $450 Materials Shingles (250 sq ft = 8 bundles) : $196 Plywood (9 pcs 8'x4'x0.75") : $315 Flashing (drip edge, 45 ft) : $25 Water barrier (2 rolls) : $125 SubTotal : $1111 8% Tax on materials : $53 15% Overhead : $167 Total : $1331 === End My Cost Estimate Profit on a $1600 payment (20%) : $269 Profit on a $1800 payment (35%) : $469

He did a really great job and was very organized. Pricing was $1300 less than another roofer.

Charlie Bell of Bell Roofing is the go to for my neighborhood when it comes to roofing. He is honest, punctual and gets to the point. The work is guaranteed and he double checks to make sure there are no nails left behind. I would highly recommend Bell Roofing.

From initial meeting with Mr. Bell through contacts with Donna in the office, to the crew, this was a fantastic experience. Everyone was nice, on time, presentable, professional. Everyone kept me informed of what would happen when-- and it did! Crew kept my home and yard clean (no cigarette butts, nails, materials left), and I and my neighbors didn't have to listen to radio music blaring or the workers yelling to each other, which recently happened with the roofers next door. I emailed 4 dfferent roofers recommended by AngiesList, and this was the only company to reply. I supplied pictures of repair areas to supplement explaination. Charlie (Bell) still came out to give an accurate estimate. He also pointed out a fewother items that would be included in the quote, such as securing shingles. I agreed and work was completed by one of his employees a few days later. Honest, no fuss work completed. I will likely call him back when it comes time for my roof replacement. (UPDATE: I called them back for my roof replacement. It went very well. Excellent Job.)

The crew arrived on time, were very professional and attentive to the job. Once they had completed the repair, it looked as if they had never been there!

Mr. Bell came out to give an estimate on a new roof and new gutters for a rental property I own in Decatur, GA. My property manager was there with me and I told Mr. Bell that he would be the contact person and would authorize payment when the job was complete. The job included modifying the structure of a problem area on the roof. Mr. Bell was cordial and spent a few minutes looking over the job from the ground (I don't know if that is relevant) then left saying he would get an estimate to me the next day. I did not hear from him, so I called his office. I left a voicemail and never heard from anyone ever again.

Bell Roofing and the crew did an excellent job in replacing my roof. The workers were very professional and courteous. The work was done as expected, on time and with the best price I could find. The clean up afterwards was better than the yard looked before the job was started. Donna was great in scheduling the job and provided updates every step of the way. I would highly recommend this company for any roofing job.

Mr. Bell himself came out at the agreed upon date and time, assessed the damage, and replaced the damaged shingles. He refused to accept any payment for his services. My recent experience with Bell Roofing is just another example of their excellent customer service. The quality of their work is excellent and their desire to deliver outstanding customer service is impressive.

They were very punctual. I called and spoke with Donna who was very friendly and honest and told me Mr. Bell would be on time or early. And he was exactly on time. He was able to listen to what I thought was going on and assess the situation. He went to his truck and worked up an estimate right there on the spot and handed it to me. It was exactly what we wanted and he did agree with us on our concerns. We had already gotten an estimate from another company which we were kind of iffy about. Part of that estimate included other services. Mr. Bell basically said I'm a roofing company, I do this 24/7 and this is what I do. I don't do woodwork, I don't do gutters, I specialize in roofs. And that was kind of new to me because companies usually say they can do everything. Mr. Bell was able to give me referrals for other people to do work and we are still talking to some of them and are very happy with the people he referred. When Bell Roofing came out, I was actually at work and my husband was at home. They came out with the foreman and Donna had called and gave me the foreman's name and cell phone number. The foreman and his crew came out and I'm not sure if the crew spoke English but the foreman did. They came out on time and within two hours had finished the job. The crew cleaned everything up afterwards and they were careful about not dropping things into the pond. When I came home from work it looked like no one had ever been there. Everything was clean and tidy. We had new ventilation installed, the car port was fixed, everything was great. We did not have an entire roof done however. He wasn't pushy but just called things to our attention to let us make a decision about it, which was very refreshing and honest. It was very reasonable and we ended up paying the exact estimate price and it looks great and is indistinguishable from the remaining part of the roof. It does not look like it's been patched in spots. We were super pleased with them and would use them again if needed.

Throughout the job, the crew and owner were completely responsive to any questions we had (e.g., regarding seating of the replacement skylights), and their office staff was similarly pleasant and responsive throughout the process. The cost was precisely as estimated (they probably could have charged more for removal of the old roof because they discovered one more layer of roofing material than anticipated over most of the roof), and the extra charge for replacement wood was less than the maximum they had predicted and less than we had anticipated. All in all, we were very happy with the work and would have no hesitation in using them again or recommending them to our friends.

The Bell Roofing crew was fantastic.....They arrived on time, were very professional, and performed the work as quoted. The roof took three days (two days of a full crew and the third day was a smaller crew to finish up). They not only let me use the dumpster to get rid of some carpeting, but they hauled it to the dumpster as well! After completion, Mr. Bell came out, explained the work that was done and answered all of my questions. Can't say I've worked with a more professional contractor.

Mr. Bell came out and did the estimate for my leaking chimney. he was on time and very professional. Price was fair; worker came and completed the repair with no problems. I have a 1 year workmanship warranty. i am pleased.

We recently purchased a home and our inspector found some issues with the roof. The flashing around the chimney wasn't done right, which was allowing water to come into the attic. After we closed I got three roofing companies to look at the roof. One company insisted that we needed a a new roof, the second said they could fix the issues but pushed a new roof as well, and then there was Mr. Charlie Bell. Charlie isn't much of a sales guy, which I really liked. He looked at the entire roof, said he could fix the problem areas and also told me that I didn't need a new roof. I was blown away by his thoroughness and honesty, as well as the fact that at no point in time did he pitch the idea of installing a new roof. I scheduled the roof replacement with his office, and they came out on a Saturday and did the work. Everything was done to high standards, and we no longer have leaks. Yay!!! On a scale of 1 - 10 I would give Bell roofing a 100. Charlie was honest, told it like it is and his company does awesome work. When it comes time to replace our roof (Charlie said we probably had another 4 - 6 years on our roof) Charlie will be the first person I call. There are hundreds of roofers in Atlanta, but based on my experience I wouldn't feel comfortable letting anyone but Bell Roofing work on my roof.

We secured bids from 2 roofing companies with good Angie's List ratings, Both bids were similar so we chose Bell Roofing given we had seen several yard signs in our neightborhood (Morningside) where Bell had done reroofings. We were given a specific start date and an estimated completion time of 3 days. The work actually was started ahead of schedule and all the reroofing was completed in three days. This included an immaculate cleaning of any roofing pieces or debris from the yard as well as use of large magnets to remove any nails. Overall I was very pleased by the quality of the workmanship and the timliness with which the work was completed.

They are great. I think they are just responsive, one of my light broke because of the vibration and he came and fixed it. They are just a good company.
