A Tile Experience

Cain was pretty terrific! After a miserable experience with another contractor who renovated our kitchen we hired Cain to install a glass backsplash. Cain removed our crappy contractors backer board (good thing he did cause he found a live wire just hanging out back there and immediately got in touch with us and got someone out there to remedy the situation) and installed new foam board and the glass tile backsplash. He was responsive and professional and really did a great job. We will be using him again when we need to retile our master bath. I can't say enough good things about Cain. His work really speaks for itself.

We were doing a major remodel and found that none of the contractors we were looking at would build a shower to the standards we wanted to assure many years of leak proof use. I found Cain and he was very personable and explained what he would do. We selected Cain and he was good about trying to work around my contractor's time line. He was flexible even with some last minute changes and some extra work due to my misunderstanding some things. The work turned our beautiful and he backs up his work with a 3 year warranty. Great guy that does great work and very responsive, what else can you want!

Curtis Cain did a fantastic job! He was very professional and even allowed us to purchase our tile through one of his suppliers where we received a discount. Most importantly, he is absolutely is a stickler for doing the job with the proper materials and correct procedures. I highly recommend!

The installation went very well. Cain spent extra time laying everything out and making recommendations to us. He ultimately left the decisions up to us. He is extremely knowledgeable on tiles, mortar and grout. He participates in local trade groups and attends regular training. I thought that his price was very reasonable but I can be a thrifty person. I only rated it as Good because I would always like the cost to be less on any project. Who doesn't like extra money?

Cain gave an estimate then when the job did not require as much time as he initially thought, he reduced the estimate. He was prompt, kept in touch and completed the job in a very timely manner. I highly recommend him.

On this project, Cain brought the master shower down to the studs and subfloor. He built a large 5' bench along the back wall and a shampoo/soap niche before waterproofing the entire shower with Schluter/Kerdi waterproofing materials. Cain also installed a new drain line and a Schluter drain. He built a mudbed floor and curb which were also waterproofed with the Schluter/Kerdi membrane. I found beautiful 12x24 polished veined travertine tile to use on the walls but couldn't find a suitable tile to use on the floor. Cain came up with the brilliant suggestion of cutting the larger tile into 3x3 pieces for the floor. Now - the floor is my favorite part of the shower!!! Cain really took his time cutting and installing the tile to make sure that everything looked good. Cain is definitely a perfectionist! He wrapped tile around corners and bull nosed edges so that the travertine vein continues around corners. It looks incredible! I selected an expensive grout option - an epoxy grout made by Spectralock. Most people don't want to spend the extra money on it, but with the research that I had done, I knew that it was worth it to me. Most water/moisture in a shower penetrates through the grout and over time, the grout ends up looking really nasty. Epoxy grout is different as it never requires sealing and will never have issues. Cain was very pleased with my decision. Spectralock grout comes in many colors to match a variety of tile. After choosing a great color, at Cain's suggestion, he added a glitter to the grout. It looks AMAZING!!!! It is subtle and elegant and makes the shower look GREAT!!! The shower turned out so great in fact, that I bought additional matching tile and had Cain redo my garden tub surround to match. Overall, Cain is a master craftsman who also has an eye for design. He is honest, responsible, prompt, reasonably priced and very talented! I highly recommend Cain for any tile work - kitchen, bath, laundry room, outdoor deck, etc.

This is the third time i have used Experience Tile on home projects. The first time i had a slate floor with steps at the back entrance to my house. The second time he built me a new shower in a half bath area that i was expanding, and the most current project,(the one i am reviewing) was for a tub and shower remodel on a house i recently purchased for my daughter. Being from 1940 and the floor tile in good shape, i wanted the new tile to match the period of the house, and cain came through with a design that matched very well. His prices are not the lowest out there, but the skill, attention to detail, and quality of the products he uses allows me to to be confident that the shower will never need repair. He also shows up and does the work himself, as opposed to some random subcontractor that some companies will send. I have a master bath that will be redone as soon as finances permit, and i wouldn't have anyone else working on it.
