I would give Mr. Bob Alade (Total Home Roofing) an A+ in every area if possible. I employed Mr. Alade company after getting estimates from other companies. He explained the whole procedure and answered all my questions. Mr Alade provided a written estimate listing all work to be completed. It also listed the type of material(color, weight) to be used on my home . The workers were very professional and took pride in their work. He kept me informed of the progress from beginning to the completion. Mr. Alade checked back with me later to make sure I was still happy with the job they did.
Description of Work: Roof replacement to include stripping off existing roofing; repairing existing deck; installing felt base and shingles.

The project began when Total Home Roofing & Contacting, LLC [THR] installed a tarp on the roof, where damage had occurred from the fallen tree, to prevent interior water damage while repair work is performed. Repair work was completed on/about 28 January 2012. A review of the completed work was conducted from the grange level and initially, from this vantage point, the repaired area appeared normal. A closer review by the homeowner a few days later uncovered major problems with the quality of work. Excessive use of sealer/caulk was apparent when gaps between newly-installed wood and the sealing compounds used began to appear. It became apparent that much of the wood replacement was performed with imprecise measurements that left large gaps. Extra pieces of wood were used to cover these measurement mistakes and excessive use of caulk/sealers was used to further cover the poor craftsmanship. Once the sealers began to separate from the wood insects quickly began to enter the home. Additionally, water entered the home and damaged the kitchen ceiling shortly after the first rain and after the tarp had been removed. The owner of THR and its carpenter returned upon my request and reviewed the water damage and problems with the exterior repairs. The THR carpenter/roofer confirmed that he had left a nail in the roof inadvertently and, as a result, water entered the home; the nail was removed and sealer reportable applied to prevent further water damage; no offer was made to repaint the damaged kitchen ceiling. The owner agreed to return later and correct the exterior repair work and stated "we'll do the best we can." Until now, the owner had stated many times that all work would be performed to my satisfaction and returned to its original condition. Needless to say, a red flag went up in my mind when I first heard him alter his original position by now saying "we'll do the best we can." Most of my many calls and messages to THR have been ignored. The owner of THR finally responded on 19 June 2012 and, initially, indicated a lack of recollection of my complaint. He proceeded to resist the notion that improvement is warranted on the original work and stated that the homeowner insurance company "only pay for the minimum." I assumed from the THR owner's statement that he believed THR was only responsible for a minimum amount of work quality to earn the agreed payment. The THR owner stated he would return to review the work when he arrives back in town and gave no estimate when this will happen. The THR owner refused to instruct the carpenter to return to correct the inferior work quality until the owner can be present to review the work. As of 02 July 2012, I have not heard from THR. A complaint to the Georgia BBB was filed by the home owner with no response, to date, from Total Home Roofing & Contracting, LLC. Response to 'PROVIDER RESPONSE' BELOW: Total Home Roofing accepted the amount paid by the homeowner's insurance company to execute repairs to the roof, fascia, and soffit. The carpenter [independent contractor] used by the company lacked the skill necessary to properly rebuild the soffit, fascia, and roof area. Further, the owner encouraged the removal of roofing vents [the insurance company noted only aesthetic problems and provided funds for replacement if preferred by the homeowner] and the installation of a ridge vent as a replacement; I agreed based on his explanation of the superior attic ventilation characteristics. The result was an improperly installed ridge vent that caused damage to the living room ceiling. THR responded to the ridge vent leak after several calls to the owner, but refused to repair the interior ceiling damage caused by water leaking into the attic. Total Home Roofing claims in its response below that the roof itself had major hail damage. This is NOT true. THR's owner met on-site with the insurance company and could not find any hail damage to the shingles. In fact, a courtesy inspection by 2 separate roofing companies since this review was originally posted more than 2 years ago could not find any problems that could support any factual justification for a claim of hail damage. In summary, Total Home Roofing failed miserably to complete repairs as contracted. The company did not have personnel available that were properly skilled in the area of exterior carpentry, which represented most of the damage caused by the tree. At the initial meeting with the company's owner I was assured that everything would be repaired and returned to its original condition. I attempted to contact the owner many times via phone calls and e-mail for more than a year to ask for his company to comply with its original agreement. Of more than 50 attempted calls and e-mails, I was able to verbally speak with the owner only 2 times. His position changed from a written commitment to complete the repairs properly to one of 'the insurance adjuster paid the minimum dollar amount' as stated in his response below. No, Total Home Roofing didn't do a good job as THC claims below. It failed miserably.

Total Home Roofing & Contracting, LLC [THR] agreed to perform the necessary repair work for the amounts approved/paid by the homeowner's insurance company, plus the applicable policy deductible. THR completed its work on/about 28 January 2012 and was paid the amount agreed upon.

Response from Total Home Roofing & Contracting, LLC
THR was contracted by the member to perform some home repairs and clean ups due to some trees that fell on his house durning the storm. The portion where the tree land on the house was severely damaged, the house was temporarily covered with tarps to stop water from doing further damage.THR removed the tree from the property, we repaired the roof and installed ridge vent. We went by to correct a task that was brought up by the customer. The insurance adjuster paid the minnimum dollar amount to do the repairs and the owner knows this I've done all I can do for this customer. Also, his roof has significant amount of hail damage..All repairs that he paid us for was done and completed by THR. I told the home owner to contact to contact his insurance company for any further problems he may have in the future because of the structural damaged caused by this massive tree that fell on his house. We've done a good job for this customer.
