 + -1 moreIt went fine. They had been recommended by my roofer, who installed the new fans with the new roof. I had called them prior to ask them some questions about the fans and they were very helpful. After the fans were installed, I called them to hook up the power to them. They scheduled the work in a timely manner and were here on time today to do the job. The two technicians were very nice and professional. After the job was completed, I asked them to go back into the attic to verify something for me and they did not hesitate. I asked for a business card because I will be using them again. It's very hard to find reputable, honest contractors and I feel fortunate to have found this company!
Description of Work: They hooked up new attic vent fans and installed new wiring to them.

 + -1 moreI spent $150 on that work. They came out and took a look at my air conditioner that was not working. The air conditioning people told me that it was a problem with the fuse. I called Meer Electric and they told me that there was no power coming from the condenser and that was the problem. When I contacted the air conditioning people, they told me that they had done everything from their side and it was a problem with my electrical. I called them again and they came back on very short notice and replaced the fuse. They misdiagnosed the problem the first time. They were trying to save me some money not replacing the fuse the first time. They were reasonably easy to get hold of the first time but took a day to turn around. Once they realized that they had made a mistake the first time, they were very responsive the second time around and came out on a holiday. That is what I like about them; they stood behind their work and made it right.
Description of Work: I used Meer Electric 1.5 months ago to replace a fuse that kept popping out.

I have no frame of reference regarding their price, but it was about what I expected. They were efficient and finished in a short while. I was very pleased and would definitely use them again.

 + 1 moreJeremiah came and diagnosed what we needed late in the day so I could accommodate my work schedule. He spent several hours trying to trace the wires through the house, crawl, basement, outside, etc. He gave us an accurate estimate and then ordered switches and parts. About a week later two other gentlemen came by and did the installation. They were neat and clean, cleaned up after themselves, used drop cloths, etc. They were very nice, prompt, and clean. They did a great job.
Description of Work: Rewired outside lights to switches instead of censored lights. Added more can lights in hall way and kitchen.

 + 2 moreWe were constantly having problems with our electrical system in the subdivision's median & we wanted to get it all done right this time. I was very pleased with the initial visit with the Meer tech named Lalo. He promptly took care of the issue so we could light up our Christmas lights. I then met with another tech to review the rest of the proposed work. I was OK with the estimate & scheduled the work. Two techs arrived on time for the followup work. We also added one more electrical box. As the tech was replacing the electrical box under on of the sign lights he called me & told me that he wouldn't feel right reinstalling it because the plastic casing was cracked & it would most likely short out again. I thanked him for calling & they went to HD to get a replacement light to match the other side. The work was very professionally done & serves us well. We were able to get rid of all the extension cords we were using across the median for the Christmas lights.
Description of Work: The electrical system was out at our subdivision's sign median & we wanted to display Christmas lights the next week. Tech came out & replaced a bad photocell & installed a new sign light (we provided the light). This visit was $200. He noticed that all our electrical boxes were buried underground & suggested we have them mounted above ground to help eliminate shorts from water entering the boxes. We also discussed adding spotlights & outlets at 3 trees. Another 2 techs completed the work the next week.

 + -1 moreThe experience went well. When I called Andy was very helpful and arranged for an appointment the following day. I asked that the techinician call ahead and they did when they were about 30 minutes out. Kevin and another gentlemen came and were polite, thorough and gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing. After we discussed the issue and I was reassured that everything was OK I was told what could be done to eliminate the fluctuations if I chose to take further action. I would be comfortable using them again.
Description of Work: I had an issue with power fluctuation in a bathroom. For several reasons I thought there might be an underlying electrical problem accounting for this ongoing problem I called Meer whom I hd never used before and they came out and went through a series of diagnostic tests. Fortunately they found no problem/no safety issues but rather some challenges associated with an older home.

 + 0 moreThe electrician (Russ) called when he was on his way, listened to what I wanted when he showed up, and was careful to position the new outlets so cables wouldn't interfere with the TV mounts in any way. Everything was finished and all the clean up was all done quickly. On top of this, the electricians were personable and professional. What's not to like about that?
Description of Work: Meer did the electrical work for two wall mounted flat panel TVs, installing outlets high on the wall behind the TVs and fishing the other related cables through the wall.

 + 2 moreThe guys always arrive on time or call and ask if they can arrive early. The are very professional, clean and friendly. They know electricity too and are quick to explain and answer my questions. I never feel like they are trying to "up-sell" me or charge me for something I don't need. Ive experienced this with other electric contractors and was pleased that Meer is not like that at all. Prices are fair and you can even get an estimate from thier web site so you'll know exactly what the cost will be! Awesome company and great service!
Description of Work: Meer Electric has completed three different jobs for me, basically replacing light fixtures, ceiling fans, light switches and outlets during the time I was updating my home. They also did an inspection of the wiring in the attic.

 + 0 moreWhen a home inspection was performed, I was advised that a noisy fan in the living room just needed lubrication. Meer came in to evaluate the situation, and advised me that incorrect wiring and control switch was used, resulting in a possible fire hazard. They repaired the problem. The prices were reasonable and the quality of their work was excellent. I trust them completely!
Description of Work: They installed 3 bedroom fans as well as repaired a problem with an existing living room fan.

 + -1 moreGentleman came out and I explained to him the issues I was having (door bell did not work, outside electrical outlets did not work, etc). Spent about an hour with me, seemed very professional. Gentleman left indicating that he would give me a call in a couple of days with a quote. Never called back. I sent 2 emails and left 2 messages which were never returned. Not sure about the quality of work they would have performed, but they should at least return calls. That in my opinion is a huge red flag.

They are neat and clean also I feel very safe knowing the work they do is professional and that they are always available if you need them to do anything for you.
Description of Work: The problem was that I wanted to put in a new overhead light in the kitchen, but it wasn't wired to do so. They rewired my 160 square foot kitchen and installed the overhead light also putting in 4 outlets. It took 3 hours.

 + -1 moreSaid he'd call back next day. Never did. I called back two days later, he finally told me it would be $2000. I said what about the discount and he couldn't give a straight answer. Called 24 HR electric who said to call power company to look at meter box. I did, and Cobb EMC said meter box is burnt. Called 24 HR back who said I didn't need to replace the panel, just meter box. I was not happy with Meer, so called to speak with the owner Rick Meer. I described the entire situation. He said that last guy Meer sent was just an ESTIMATOR, that he didn't diagnose problems. I asked why was he sent then? Rick replied, "I didn't send him." and "Who did you talk to?". I said someone from your company sent him. I then told Rick about the meter box. He said something like do I trust the power company over Meer?! Then, Rick suggested I pay $3000 to replace it AND the panel. 24 HOUR came out a few days later, replaced box, for $365 total. All works GREAT now.
Description of Work: Rick Meer, the owner, has retaliated against me for a review I placed on another site! I got an urgent message, from my power company, one day after my review posted. They called to warn me that he had called, that they have notes in their computer that he is "rude, disgruntled" and was "asking for info about my account" over which he does not have authority! He told them that I had work done with no inspection. The power company told me, for the third time, that I don't need an inspection. My review: My fridge, dryer, pool motor, etc would only come on when I turned the STOVE on. Meer never diagnosed my actual problem. They came to my house 3 times. First, two guys came out, rewired my dryer circuit and replaced some breakers. Next day, the problem persisted. The next week, they called VERY LAST MINUTE the scheduled day to cancel. Next day, they sent another two guys out, said my panel was rusty, and cleaned it. (Ctd. below)

 + -1 moreCalled Meer and was able to schedule a visit within 4 days of the call. Meer sent 2 gents -- Richard and another fella I can't remember -- to check on the dryer and outlet. They arrived 25 minutes into the 2 hour scheduled repair window. They confirmed what I was told on the phone for rates -- a flat fee for the visit and first half hour, then an hourly rate after that. It was very reasonable, given some of the fixed prices I got from other electricians. While working, Richard noted the difference in the warranty for the dryer plug that I supplied -- making sure I was aware that the part was Home Depot's and that his work was Meer's. They were done in about 35 minutes. I was only charged for the first half hour plus the outlet and breaker parts. $160 or so. Very reasonable -- better than the $300 from other electricians.
Description of Work: Meer was called in to repair a blown dryer outlet and a possible blown dryer breaker in the main electrical box. Meer's guys (Richard and another fella) came in and (a) replaced a 3-prong dryer outlet that had shorted out due to stripped/short-circuited wiring, (b) replaced a melted dryer plug (using a part I supplied), and (c) replaced a blown 220 volt breaker in the main electrical box.

 + -1 moreOverall it has been very confusing. It is not the customers place to validate and check electrical work. I am not an electrician! To resolve the issues I called and spoke with Rick Meer. He was very responsive and scheduled the service men to come out and correct the problems at no charge. From what I understand, the GFIC breaker installation was corrected. Beyond that I don't have a clue what the two guys were doing for 2.5 hours. They found a faulty light fixture and removed it and told me I needed a new breaker in my breaker box and he would have it ordered and come back to replace it. I have not heard back from them and it has been a few weeks. In the end, I am thankful that they came back and corrected the initial problems and thankful they found the faulty light, but overall they did not give me any confidence in the work that was completed and I will be contacting another electrical company to review my existing wiring and make recommendations.
Description of Work: The company was asked to perform work based on a home inspection. The home inspector located (1)missing breaker, (2)the wrong size breaker installed, (3)faulty GFIC outlet and (4)an unsafe placement of a light switch that needed a GFIC switch installed. I was not present for the repair, but after reviewing the completed job invoice the work that was asked was not the work that was done. Item (3)the existing GFIC breaker was repaired. Item (2) nothing was done, the invoice stated the correct breaker size is present but referenced the wrong appliance attached. From what I can tell, items (1) & (4) were combined by protecting the switch with a new GFIC breaker. After inspection of the work, I noticed the new GFIC breaker was not installed correctly and a wire was dangling loose and capped off in the breaker box. Also, for some reason the service men choose to redirect the wiring and now my bathroom with only two switches and no outlets are powered by two separate breakers.
