Chimney Solutions

We noticed a water stain on the ceiling close to the fireplace and suspected it had something to do with the chimney. Chimney Solutions came out and took a lot of pictures then walked us through what the problem was. Apparently the builder installed an inappropriate chimney pan which contributed to water leaking into the structure. e set up an appointment for them to come out and fix it... which they did. On the appointment day, they were running a bit late, but they did show up and fixed the problem and left us instructions about what our next steps should be. We were pleased overall.

Excellent. Chimney Solutions is expensive BUT they could not have been better. The independent engineer that we hired told us that he has given construction lectures to the employees of Chimney Solutions and he recommended the company. Chimney Solutions excels in communication and follow-up. They would call to tell us that they were on the way; they let us know when they arrived in the morning and when they were leaving at the end of the day. On the first morning, Christian and Chip told us that one of them would be at the job site at some point each day - and they were true to their word. They were always easy to contact. The day after the project was completed, Christian came to the house to make sure that he was satisfied and they we were satisfied with the project. All of the employees were excellent. They did a thorough job of cleaning up each day and at the end of the project.

Both Chip and Rick were very knowledgeable, easy to talk to and did a professional job. I am very pleased with the results of their work.

The person who answered the phone was very courteous, but informed me it would cost $129 to get an estimate on a chimney reline. Although the $129 would be taken off the final bill, this arrangement doesn't really work if trying to get competitive bids. I would understand a nominal trip charge, but considering a chimney reline in an expensive proposition I have to comparison shop and cannot afford potentially to lose that much money. I regret Chimney Solutions will not be a solution for me.

Crew of 2 arrived a little early, we chatted about the scope of work for a few minutes and they got to work. We had a bird get into the chimney and come down into the stove, thankfully not during the heating season; so they screened in the chimney cap properly, for a reasonable cost to us. They were sure to drape a clean tarp over the stove opening on the inside to prevent ashes and soot from entering the home while they worked outside.Turning to the inside, they moved furnishings a safe distance from the stove and draped a clean tarp over the rugs. While cleaning out the T, inside the chase, they located the bird's less fortunate cousin, who apparently entered the system during the heating system. They disposed of the crispy critter. and gave the Franklin Stove a good cleaning. They took the stovepipe outside, so they could clean it without the risk of dirt inside the house. Finally, they performed a video inspection of the flue to ensure it was clean.We then moved on to the dryer vent cleaning, which despite having not been scheduled, they were happy to perform. NOTE: We had neglected having our dryer vent cleaned for several years, do not make this same mistake. A clogged dryer vent can and will burn your house down! They cleaned the dryer vent, first from the outside and then from the inside, reconnected the dryer and cleaned up after themselves very nicely. The workmen were very professional, tidy, polite and thorough. We have already scheduled our service for this time next year.

The serviceman was quite good. No complaints about the service. I asked him to check the gas fireplace, which he did. All in all, it was good service.

A very efficient operation. Professional, courteous, and timely with attention to keeping the mess to a minimum. They hauled off the broken firebrick and cleaned up after themselves.

This wasn't the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor, but it wasn't one of the best, either. The technician let me know about one real problem, that the mortar on the base of the fireplace needed to be replaced. (Most of it was loose and came up when he vacuumed, and the gas from our starter seeps through multiple cracks instead of the two spots it's supposed to.) The original price for a cleaning was $240, but we caught a sale. To me, that seems like a lot for 20-30 minutes of work. So my expectations were high. (This company is also recommended by Home Reports.) My experience with the office was excellent, and I had no problem scheduling an appointment. The tech arrived on time. I expected him to have a company shirt or uniform since the company is highly rated and in my opinion, expensive. No, he came in a dusty gray sweatshirt with no logo on it. Okay, not that big a deal. On the positive side, when I noted that there was a lot of dust and some bits of grime left on the floor of the fireplace after he finished it, he offered to get the vacuum from the truck and re-vacuum it. That did make a big difference. What was irritating was that he recommended over $1,500 worth of repairs over the course of the hour or so he was there. The need for repairs is always stressful, but they were things I wanted to get a second opinion on (except for the one item previously mentioned). So I didn't want anything done that particular day. I understand the need, from the company's perspective, to do up-sells. These might have been legitimate warnings, too, from their perspective. And I realize the tech was doing what he was told to do. However, I would prefer to have him tell me about everything right at the end, in a matter-of-fact way before I pay my bill. If that is not possible, then I should be offered everything ONCE, and it should be dropped if I say "no" the first time. At the end of the hour, I was emotionally exhausted from telling him "no, thanks" about the same things. When he left, we did have a clean chimney. Once that one small repair is made, we can safely use our fireplace. However, we will try another company next time. This summer, I was outside working on the yard near the bottom of the chimney. I opened the little dustbin under the fireplace and noticed it was FULL of dust. (We never used the chimney, due it the necessary repair the tech discovered.) It seems to me that this bin should be emptied when the chimney sweep comes. I would definitely not hire them for this service again.

So far everything has gone well. I received detailed information about what they will be doing. They will be out Wednesday.

Rick was very quick to arrive for an estimate (he did it the day I called)--the other contractors I called for estimates (both roofers) needed a week just to see me. I had a leak around the flashing on the chimney cap (which he caulked for no charge and without me asking). I hired him that day and he was ready a week later for installation. Installation and repair went smoothly, and I have no more leaks around my chimney cap!

It was explained to me that the creosilt I was concerned about was not as bad as I thought but I asked him to go ahead and do the cleaning anyway.

He ws very reasonably price and very nice. He was prompt and professional. He did a good job.

The technician was supposed to be at my house at 8 a.m. which he was not but he did call to say that he was running a bit late and indicated how much time it would take him to get there. He got to my home at 8:30 and proceeded to get to work and get the job done. He told me there wasn't anything serious going on - just needed a good cleaning and gave recommendations as to best way to use the fireplace to avoid the smoke that we had experienced before. I do appreciate this as he easily could have told me that there were issues that would require additional work and money but he didn't - it is obvious he (John - technician) and the company pride themselves on integrity and customer service. I do plan on using them for regular maintenance and would indeed recommend them to others.

Chimney Solutions was very punctual, professional and did a great job. We would definitely use them again in the future.

They were able to give me an appointment the next day. The cost was $129 for the inspection and a report. For $199, they would do the safety inspection and also clean the chimney. I had a $40 cleaning coupon from Val Pak so my final cost was $159 for the inspection and cleaning. The inspector found some minor gaps and recommended that a re-layering of the smoke box area would be very useful for my chimney, but also confirmed that it would likely be safe to use on an occassional basis. I would probably only burn a fire 2-3 times per year. The technician also removed an old glass and metal door frame from the front of the fireplace which had become very smoke stained over the years and my wife thinks it is ugly. The video inspection is also really handy. With the camera, he was able to show me exactly what parts of the chimney could use repair by showing me the worn sections, and comparing it to a un-damaged section. I would definitely hire this company again.

They brought any old screen they had, that did not fit. When I complained the man ripped the screen out of the fireplace and ran out refusing to return my deposit. They've done nothing and kept my money.
