Brushstrokes

Maryann was wonderful. She called me back within a day to set up a consultation about the project I needed done. She then painted a sample so I could see what it would look like. She removed the doors and drawers of the vanity to do back at her place of business, sent her painter over to do the painted undercoat on the vanity cabinet and then came to do the glazing herself another day. She really knows what she is doing and I was impressed at how professional the results were. I am totally pleased with her work.

Our kitchen was very dated by the white cabinets and dark accent colors. We contacted Brushstrokes as a less expensive alternative to a complete replacement of all of the kitchen cabinetry. After a couple of consultations about color and suggestions regarding remodeling the family room side of the cabinets, we contracted Brushstrokes to repair, apply a faux finish to our cabinets and remodel the area under the eating peninsula. All work was performed on time and everything is beautifully finished with great attention to details such as repairing nicks in the existing wood and painstaking application of stains to match new molding color to existing floor color. The work was messy by nature, but the kitchen was spotless at the end of the job.

Although my kitchen was only 5 years old, the stylish distressed finish had become extremely distressed. I met with a couple of companies to explore my options to make my kitchen look as it should. The cabinets and the kitchen were relatively new and functioned well. I had bids for many thousands of dollars to rework and replace my cabinets. In the end, Brushstrokes came in and gave me a much more reasonable price to simply paint most of the cabinets and put a customized new finish on the island making it look more like a piece of furniture. This also gave the kitchen an updated new look for a fraction of the cost of replacing. I was anxious about having my kitchen in disarray and strangers in my house for a prolonged period. We worked out a schedule that was good for me. Brushstrokes was right on time with little disruption to my family. The workers were very courteous and respectful. Maryanne does much of the work herself. She has known and worked with her small team of painters for several years. I was very comfortable with them in the house. I was so impressed with the work that I ask Maryanne to paint a couple of small bedroom chests and my grandmothers old Cedar chest. Once hidden in a back bedroom, my grandmothers old chest is now in a place of prominence with a unique custom finish. Maryanne is a gifted artist and my house looks great.

Because this was an overhaul in the entire kitchen, there were many contractors working at once. Mary Anne was flexible with our schedule. She gave us realistic deadlines when the work would be completed once she got started and finished on time. There was an area needing repair and she had a professional cabinet repairmen available that came to the house and made the necessary repair to the framing. The quality of the work was exceptional and I love the way my cabinets look. I think they look as good as new, maybe even better than new as the quality of paint and the process left a beautiful finish.

She is an excellent painter especially in special work needed like faux or tea stains. She does kitchen/bath cabinets well. It is her own company and occasionally works with another woman who is her partner if two people needed for the job. She is trustworthy and dependable. She will do sample boards for approval.
