Description of Work: Built a pool house, and 1/2 bath.

Description of Work: The initial estimate was for approximately $800. Ron, the owner, continuously found other repair work that was needed before he could finish the job. Before it was over, I had paid him approximately $9000. During the initial visit, he stated that he would be there every day either doing the work himself or ensuring that the work was done properly. He was not there. His two guys were very talented and respectful to me; however, it was obvious that Ron never did any of the work. When I would question the workers about where Ron was at and when could I expect to see him, there was a deafening silence and rolling of eyes. When I needed to select materials for the job, I asked Ron to allow me to purchase the items and that way I could ensure that there was not a substantial mark-up. On the last day of the project, all the extra material disappeared. Ron informed me that he cleaned up the job site. I asked him for the extra material; ie, flooring tile so that if I ever needed to replace a piece, I would have it. He was upset that I asked for it. Finally after many phone calls, I had to tell him that I would not pay the final payment on the project unless he brought me all of the overage. He produced only a few pieces of tile and his workers told me that he kept many boxes of tile at his house. When we were scheduled to meet to discuss the work, he was always late. He had to ask his wife about times or she had to come with him or make arrangements for someone to keep his baby, etc. I finally had to halt all the work before I was absolutely broke. I had the work inspected by a home inspector and by my insurance agent/inspector and was told that the qualilty of work was good. The work was not covered by insurance; however, the inspector did look at all of it.

Description of Work: Several things needed to be repaired on my daughters home. We asked that a quote be broken down for each of the things that needed to be done and we would decide which of the things by daughter could afford to do. We decided to have Ron repair the flashing around the chimney ($375), replace an outside door (labor only $175) and replace a shingle of siding on the house ($140) for a total of $690. I asked him if he would do all 3 for $600 and he agreed to.
