We met with the owner, Kent Adams, and discussed the project. He gave a ballpark number of $2,000 to $3,000. He felt the fairest way to handle the billing was on an hourly basis. He said some pieces would need to be disassembled to ensure that all was sealed, would do touch-up as needed, and would fix a couple of places on a table top and blend it in. There was also a large antique armoire that needed some repair to hinges and a small split in the door, as well as touch up and sealing. When the furniture was returned to me over 6 weeks later, it was filthy...covered in dirt, had leaves in the corners and dead long winged insects. Some of the pieces looked worse than when they were taken or like they had not been touched. One mahogany bookcase still had some small drips of wax on the top that I knew were from 2 years ago. Another antique wash stand had to be stained and it was only sealed causing the bottom shelf to look like a totally different type of wood from the rest of the piece. The Ethan Allen table top was no longer shiny, but has two 5"circles where the areas where burned in and buffed. The table leaves have lines running one direction and the table itself has swirls in the wood. The edges have new chipped areas. The antique armoire key was lost. A wood lateral file now has two cap feet missing. Upon seeing the furniture I told Kent and his son Phillip that I was very displeased and disappointed. When Kent brought the table leaves about 10 days later he confessed to not knowing where the armoire key was and that they would try to make the table look better. He left a small amount of scratch cover with a rag and said I could try using that myself on some of the pieces. When I disputed the charge due to the shabby work, Kent informed me that I would need to talk to his son, the owner. I almost found this amusing as we had previously been told that his son was just made President, but that he, Kent, made all of the decisions. I also ascertained that "dis-assembly" meant removing drawers... Adams has now offered to do whatever work they can in 3 hours or refund 20%. I have no intention of letting them do more damage to the furniture. Nor will I accept $400 off of a $2200 bill when I still have to pay out more money to have a real professional repair what they did and/or didn't do, as well as replace a key to an antique piece that cannot be closed or opened without one. This company, Kent Adams, is not to be believed. He would prefer talking about his Waterford Crystal collection than reveal that he has little knowledge of furniture repair and wood refinishing.
Description of Work: Several pieces of wood furniture were to be sealed in areas where there was not a hard finish. One piece was to be touched up, glued, parts of it refinished and sealed. Another piece was to be stained and then sealed. A table top was to be touched up and buffed out.

They were excellent. They fixed it and it is beautiful. They were punctual and were very knowledgeable. The price was less than I thought it was going to be. They did not have to cart the table off and they did the work right there on the premises, which was very nice. There wasn't anything I did not like about them.
Description of Work: I had a table that an oil diffuser had fallen over and it ate the finish off the top of the table. Adams fixed that.

When I called they sent out an individual on the schedule time. They had the chairs for approximately one week. They returned the chairs and did a excellent job. Very professional and friendly. This was a good experience and I will use them in the future.
Description of Work: Two chairs needed repair. One needed the bottom bracing legs repaired. The other arm had pulled away from base.

I liked what he said about how he'd repair it. His son, the president of the company, came to get the chairs and when I got them back you couldn't even tell they had been repaired. A lot of people told me to throw the chairs away. He did such and amazing and quality job.
Description of Work: For two years I've had two broken dining room chairs. They fixed them for me.

The job was painless. They discussed the finish options, finally settling on a treatment that would retain as mush of the original look and value as possible. It took a while, nearly four weeks, but I suppose when a company is good, they are also busy.
Description of Work: The finish on my antique dining room table top was damaged when it was stored in a POD outside in the hot sun. Kent sanded it down to bare wood and rebuilt the finish from stain up to a period-appropriate satin finish, doing the leaf as well.

Excellent, they came when they said they would, took the barstools and returned them sooner than they had promised. I felt that the cost was quite reasonable. Please note though that they have changed their name to Central Florida Furniture Repair.
Description of Work: Replaced the pivot bearing on one barstool and reinstalled a pintle that had been displaced from the back of another barstool.

I was very pleased with their service orientation and their knowledge of their industry. I would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: Assessed damaged furniture and made me aware of lifetime warranty on my chair. They offered to make arrangements with the manufacturer to send me the replacement parts and come back out if I needed them to (for an additional $54 visitation fee). If I had known of the warrenty, they would not have even needed to have visited at all.

They were very professional, they came when they said they would, the work had a very high quality and was very reasonably priced. Their price to do four chairs was less than a furniture repair man in Winter Park wanted for one chair.
Description of Work: They disassembled and re-glued four dining room chairs. They also repaired one chair that had collapsed and had a missing piece of wood. You could not readily identify the restored chair from the rest of them.
