I called My Tech Computer on 1/22 in the mid afternoon for a service call on my laptop. This is a small, friendly, family run business. Dianne English, took my call and arranged for John to come to my house later the same afternoon. John arrived on time, worked quietly and persistently to resolve my laptop problems. He removed the virus, took care of other issues, and gave me tips on steps I could take on my own if the problem reoccurred. He worked on my computer for 2 hrs and resolved a list of problems. I have been using My Tech Computer Services for several years. My computer problems are addressed promptly, at a fair price, and I am usually given additional tips on how to keep my system running smoothly. John works hard and gets the job done.
Description of Work: John English, the business owner, came to my house and resolved several problems that I was having with my lap top, including virus removal. The job took 2 hrs, which he billed at $85.00/ hr. The business phone number is: 407-629-5330

Big John came out on 11/16/14 to fix a problem ( $554.00) 2 days later I had to call him to come out and fix the same problem that he was suppose to fix on 11/16/14 and he charged me $175.00. A total of $729.00 for two trips and the computer NEVER operated correctly since then. I had to go out and buy a new computer last week $872.00. I wish he would have been honest with me and tell me at the beginning I needed a new computer!! Last week the owner called telling me of a new virus and that his company can protect my computer. I relayed the above message to him and he seemed very disinterested . . . he said that he would review the invoices. I have not hard from him or anybody from his company since. I sincerely feel I have been scammed!!
Description of Work: Big John came out on 11/16/14 to fix a problem ( $554.00) and he changed out the hard drive which I didn't need. 2 days later I had to call him to come out and fix the same problem that he was suppose to fix on 11/16/14 and he charged me $175.00. A total of $729.00 for two trips and computer was NEVER operated correctly since then. The original call to Mytech Computer Services to come out for service was that the customer had moved his PC into another room so the computer room could be painted. The customer stated that after he moved his PC, it was not operating correctly after setting it back up in his computer room. Moving a PC from one room to another would not cause any issues observed if it was performed correctly by shutting the unit down and carefully removing any peripherals before moving. Upon hearing the customers symptoms, the MyTech Computer technician first tested the hard drive on November 6, 2014. The testing revealed that the customers hard drive was failing. The technician then cloned and replaced the hard drive with a new one. The customer called MyTech a few days later to report that he was still having some issues so our technician returned for a second visit on November 13, 2014 but this time the customer wanted our technician to look at an additional PC that he said was also having problems. Our technician found Malware and Viruses on both of his PCs and removed all from the 2 PCs. Several days later we received another call from this customer in which we went out for service on November 18, 2014. Our technician found the problem to be “more Malware” in which he removed again and also did a repair for a service that was not starting. The technician would not have left if there were any noticeable issues remaining without telling the customer first. The technician told the customer to call if there were any more issues. After November 18, 2014, MyTech Computer Services never ever received a call from the customer concerning that their were any ongoing problems whatsoever! Also, it is very difficult to recommend replacing the PC at first look in most cases since we have to deal with all issues that are observed first before we know if it is even repairable. At that point there will already be some time and expense involved. MyTech Computer Services has a 1 hour minimum charge and after that the customer can stop us at any given time but this customer did not stop the technician. As a rule, we always strive to tell our customers as soon as the technician knows if the repair is going to closely reach the cost of a new PC but it is the customers responsibility and choice to let the technician know what they would like to do. Up until I called this customer on February 12, 2015 we had no way of knowing that his issues were ongoing since our last visit on November 18, 2014. My phone call to the customer on February 12, 2015 was to ask if he would like to receive our email Newsletter concerning the CryptoWall 3 ransomware that is currently going around. The newsletter was intended as a means of making all of our customers aware of the infection, what to look for and most importantly, how they can keep their data which would be destroyed by this particular infection safe by backing up to a device that is kept off the PC. My phone call never ever implied that MyTech Computer Services could protect him from Cryptowall 3 as currently there is NO protection from Cryptowall 3. It was merely to see if he would like to receive our Newsletter which told of ways to keep his “data” safe by backing up etc...etc... MyTech Computer Services has no way of knowing if the original issue was ongoing since approximately 3 months had lapsed since our last visit and it is extremely possible that there may be more infections on the PC since our visit or other issues that have arrived since that time. Had the customer called us, MyTech Computer Services would have sent out another technician at “No Charge” to check it out or applied some of the time to setting up a new PC for the customer. We strive to do the very best at every job and appreciate it when a customer lets us know if something is still not right (we go back out and make it right). However, he did not give our company any notification to let us know that he was still having issues.

Mr. English was able to come to my office two days earlier than anticipated. I brought my personal computer in to work and he came to me to fix it. He determined what was wrong and told me it was going to take some effort to get it back clean and that the particular virus is very difficult to extinguish. He was honest and said he may not be able to do it. After working on it for 3 hours. He took it with him to work on some more. He charged me very little for the after hours work. He wanted to be able to successfully clean out the Zbot virus and offer that service to others. A job well done.
Description of Work: MyTech was able to remove the ZBot virus from my computer. I had run several antiviral applications myself but was not successful. The virus was attached to my main anti viral program. Two new anti viral programs were installed and all the corrupted files restored or deleted. A job well done.

MyTech Computer Services does not have any customers whatsoever named [Member name removed] nor do we have any customers with the last name [Member name removed]. We recently worked on that particular date to install an SSD drive for a new customer by the name of [member's name removed] so I will assume I am responding to him. [member's name removed] had ordered an SSD drive that he had bought online to replace his SATA drive in his custom built gaming pc. We were to install his SSD drive with the 2.5” to 3.5 “ adapter that we supplied. We scheduled and talked to him via the phone and responded to his emails prior to our coming out, we had absolutely no prior knowledge of his PC case other than what information he had given us. The old SATA drive was very difficult to remove and the new SSD drive was very difficult to install. Being that we had no prior knowledge of his particular PC case before hand, we did not know that it was not a standard case. The drive was installed but the screws were not long enough to secure it into the case. Although this not being the most optimal, it was still functional and since it was a desktop and was not going to be moved; we felt it should be fine. Also, [member's name removed] requested the technician to install his Windows Operating System onto his SSD drive that he said he already had on a CD along with the Product Key Code for it located on the PC box. [Member's name removed] in fact did not have the Windows Operating System CD that he told us that he had, so we could not finish that part of the job. He said he would do the rest, install all updates, install his Antivirus and all programs that he needed and would call us to finish up anything he had problems with. [Member's name removed] was also fully aware that we charge by the hour with an hour minimum and after that we go to the nearest 1/4 hour plus a $5.00 trip charge and he utilized the $15.00 off Angie’s 1st time customer coupon. [ Member's name removed] did not express any concern over the time until several days after we were out. He very well could have stopped the technician at any time to minimize his charge, we had told him this several times prior. We performed the very best work for him based on the information we had from [ Member's name removed]over the phone and email prior to our coming out. The technician also helped [ Member's name removed] with some of his own gaming knowledge.

John did a fabulous job for me. I purchased a high end printer that I needed checked out right away. I called John at 10:30 a.m. and he reached my customer's site within two hours. He powered up the machine, performed some tests and concluded that the embedded PC controller seemed complete and functional. I couldn't be happier.

Overall, John got us up and running in a short amount of time, and his fee was not exhorbitant. He know the things to do, and showed me for future reference. I appreciated, as I can try those things before I call someone the next time. Thank you John!
Description of Work: We came into our office on 4/30/13 and had no internet, nor could we access our network where the database is we use daily. I personally tried for eight hours to get us back on, but had to relinquish that duty, and I called Geek Squad. Geek Squad's first appointment was on Saturday, May 4th, but there was no way we could wait that long to do our work, so I joined Angie's List and called MyTech. John, the owner, was able to come that day around 1pm. He admitted when he got here, that he was not a network person, but could get us back on the internet. It took about an hour, and he got us up and running, including our network. We were so relieved, as two days down in a small business is super stressful. I would definitely call MyTech again but, I hope we don't crash any time in the near future.

We have a very expensive computer that kept giving us a lot of problems and finally just wouldn't work at all. We thought about buying a new one but this was supposed to be an excellent machine. Called John and explained the problem. He used the equipment in his office to find the exact source of the problem and called to let us know and explain our options. We decided to go ahead and replace the hard drive with the hope that he would actually fix the computer. We were so pleased that he managed to transfer most of the data and the problem was FIXED! Great to have the machine back and it works like brand new.
Description of Work: Fixed a non-operating computer by diagnosing the problem and replacing the hard drive. He managed to save most of the data and transfer it on to the new drive.

The computer was ready on the date John English said it would be. He called one day prior to confirm the appointment. John Frangos did a very thorough job of setting up the computer, and he made sure I was satisfied with the way it was working before he left. He was very patient, pleasant, and courteous. I am very happy with the product and service I received from MyTech.
Description of Work: I required a custom configuration for a Windows-based desktop computer. I had certain specifications for an extra DVD drive, extra hard drive, additional RAM, and multiple USB ports on the front of the machine. John English worked with me to determine my needs and had the unique system I wanted designed and built for me. John Frangos ("Big John") came to my home, set up the computer, and installed several programs. He tested all the peripherals (including the printer/scanner and Webcam) to make sure they were all working. Mr. Frangos also downloaded updates needed for some of my software.

This is the second time we called John at MyTech and we are very satisfied with his service. Rather than recommend that he should spend 4+ hours of billable time, he provided simple instructions for the fix. This sort of honest, non-greedy approach should be commended. I would highly recommend MyTech to anyone who is stuck with computer problems.
Description of Work: My son was having problems with his 2 year old computer and after our self diagnosis and checking the internet for the probable cause, John spent about a half hour checking out the computer and found the cause to be the Windows 8 preview software my son downloaded. He explained the problem and how to remedy it in very precise, non-tech language. My son can delete Windows 8 and reload Windows 7 and he should be back in business after about 4+ hours of downloading and uploading software.

We had been having problems with printing from our compters, laptops, printers and ipads. My laptop was badly infected and I couldn't watch dvd's on the machine. My ipad would only print to my air printer once in a while and my husband was having trouble printing to his laser printer. All the trouble was coming from the software. John cleaned it all up and installed new drivers and everything is now working perfectly. We will definately call John and if we have problems in the future.
Description of Work: John from MyTech Computer Services arrived exactly on time. He is a very professional young man. He looked at our computers and network and routters. We explained the problems we were experiencing and one by one he dealt with the complaints and fixed them. My husband and I were quite pleased and by the time John left 21/2 hours later all was repaired.

Diane called to confirm the appointment and asked if John could arrive a few minutes early. After looking over the armoire and the computer spread out over my dresser, he set to work. I am so glad I decided to hire this job done, as it was more involved and physically challenging than I thought, and John was very patient with a job that was probably more of a chore than computer techs are used to. When my old CRT monitor would not quite allow the new armoire doors to close, John simply called the office to have a new flat sreen monitor delivered to the house. That's service!
Description of Work: I asked Mytech to move my tower PC from my bedroom to a new computer armoire in my living room. Not a technical challenge, but one beyond my physical ability.

My desk-top system had been running slowly so I called Mytech on 06/06/12 and was given an afternoon appointment for the following day, 06/07/12. Got a call about noon on 06/07 indicating that their technician would be delayed and unable to keep that appointment so it was rescheduled for 1 PM the following day, 06/08/12 and the technician arrived promptly at that time. Services he performed are listed above and my system is now running just about perfectly. Have used Mytech several times in the past and always gotten great service.
Description of Work: Technician cleaned up Windows, checked for malware and Rootkits as well as purging and rebuilding the indexing system. He also removed a costly anti-virus sytem and installed a free service.

Member Compaq PC is approximately 5+ years old that he called us with symptoms of being "very slow & freezing". The technician arrived, opened the case and first inspected for swollen capacitors on the mainboard as this can be a major issue with older PCs. The capacitors appeared fine. The technician noted that the video was unstable and he ran Hard Drive diagnostics which showed ECC and Seek Errors but the diagnostics had to be "stopped" due to the Hard Drive "overheating". There is also the fact that on an older PC that there could be multiple issues that cannot be determined until the original issue is fixed, therefore, the replacement of the Hard Drive may have lead to other hardware needs such as video replacement etc... The technician advised the member the approximate cost to repair the PC and compared it to the cost of replacing it with a new PC as the repair could approach the cost of a new machine. MyTech Computer Services always advises our customers that if the cost of the repair on an older PC approaches the cost of a new PC; that it may be wiser to put their money towards a new PC. The technician advised the member that he would be wise to look into a new PC. The decision to repair or replace the PC is left up to the customer and the member did not indicate one way or another what his decision was by the end of the visit. MyTech Computer Services does not follow up on issues like this as we leave it up to the customers discretion on their decision and for them to notify us of their decision as we are not a high pressure sales service company. All of our customers, new and old are aware of our rates prior to scheduling and are aware that we have a minimum 1 hour charge. The member was very aware of our 1 hour minimum charge and the member was only charged the "1 hour minimum" and nothing more. MyTech Computer Services takes great pride in our Customer Service, Honesty and Integrity and we feel that we recommended the best economical choice for the member welfare and also to give him all his options for making a valid decision.

Not only did the tech (John) ck. out 2 computers, upon request he also ck'd out an old IMac and took to heart how I wanted to minimize his time. Gave me candid opinions on all equipment, kept me appraised of time it would take to do each section of the job and gave me lots of good advice. Got to watch him every minute, he told me exactly what he was doing and why. Learned a lot in the process. Price, altho more than I hoped to pay...it was worth every penny...and having work done so promptly in my house office was a Godsend. Excellent work and company.

I spent $750 on that service unfortunately. The job went well overall and they to did extensive testing and had taken my computer into their shop and had it for about a week. They had come out to the house a month or two before and said there may be an issue with the hard drive or the power supply and that the diagnostics would take hours and hours. One of them charged me that kind of time at the house, so the best deal would be to take into their shop. They came down and picked up the computer and brought it back to their shop. They ran all the tests and determined that it was the hard drive issue and they replaced two hard drives. They ran virus scans through everything, tweaked things up and now my computer works again. They know what they are talking about and I felt that the price was fair considering the work that was done. Whenever I call them they are here and they dealt with all my data and stuff.
Description of Work: I use Mytech Computer Services for computer repair services. The last time I used them was last month for an extensive problem and they took care of it.

On 07/27/2011 I found that I was unable to get into my e-mail on my computer. Having used MyTech several times in the past I called them and was given an appointment for around 5 PM that same day. About 4 PM, MyTech (Diane English) called to advise that their technician was running late and would not be able to keep the appointment so it was moved to the following day. The technician arrived promptly at his appointed time and corrected the problem.
Description of Work: Unable to access my e-mail and they fixed the problem.

Our HP computer would not power up. John Frangos arrived at exactly the promised time and diagnosed the problem as a failed power supply. He replaced it, and the computer booted up fine. We were charged for one hour's worth of work, but it only took about 25 minutes for John to diagnose the problem and make the necessary repair. He then told us that there would be no additional charge for him to do some other diagnostics for the rest of the hour. He ran them and gave us a report of the results.John was very professional and efficient. I hope I never have to call MyTech again to fix a broken PC, but if I do, they'll be the ones to call. Very pleased.
Description of Work: Took the side panel off the PC, measured the output from the power supply, determined that it was dead. Replaced the dead 200 watt supply with a 400 watt supply (at a reasonable price).

I was having an issue with E-Mail being unable to open attachments. Called about 1 PM on 06/02/2011 and was given an appointment on the same day for 3:30 PM. Technician, John Frangos, arrived, rectified the problem and then checked to see that the balance of my computer was operating correctly.
Description of Work: Was having a problem with my E-Mail. Technician rectified the problem in short order and also checked out all the operating systems.
