Jim is extremely experienced, friendly and very professional. He gets the work done in a timely manner. Jim is a true craftsman. I highly recommend him and his prices were so reasonable! Jim does fabulous work and is a true find. His work is awesome and even our husbands loved his work!

It was good that all old fabrics were removed prior to applying new fabric. (Had very different experience with another upholsterer in town.) If all that is needed is basic upholstery, they may be able to provide an adequate product. However, if there are special needs or requests, the requests may be forgotten which delays completion of job. The sofa and one of the chairs were adequately completed except for the seat cushions. He forgot that firm replacement cushions had been requested. One of the ottomans was lost for a period of time and then did not match the other stool when completed. Even when I agreed to have him build a new ottoman to be a twin, the new ottoman was still not a twin and had less than desirable construction. On one of my chairs, an error was made and the new fabric tore. Jim agreed to fix the situation. However, it took 8 weeks to get the chair back. I had to make numerous calls and/or visits to the shop to request the status. Unfortunately, the job was ultimately rushed and short cuts were taken resulting in an end product that had more wrinkles than the original fabric (prior to re-upholstering) and the initial upholstery job. Glue was used to hold some fabric in place reportedly to "prevent re-tearing." Very disappointed with the quality of the end product. If you use his services, be sure to visit regularly during the job and inspect the work carefully before it is delivered and/or final payment is made. This may not be the best shop for special needs (i.e. modifications to the original furniture) or for those who have high expectations. Jim does not take notes and may not be responsive to written reminders that you provide.

Everything was going fine until the chair was delivered. The chair is an antique rocker with upholstery on the back and seat. The seat looked ok (not the quality I'm used to from previous experience in another state, however), but the upper part of the back had ripples in it because he had not included enough batting. I had several others look at it, and all agreed that I should talk to Jim about it. This is where the trouble began. He couldn't see ANY ripples and would not fix the chair unless I paid him extra. It was not cost effective to start over with another upholsterer and new fabric, so I agreed to split the cost of the fabric. When the person delivering the chair mentioned the payment owed, Jim had increased the cost! He was not man enough to talk to me himself...I assume because he knew he was in the wrong. The lesson learned here is that Jim does not stand behind his work

JIM CAME AND WAS VERY PLEASANT-ANSWERED QUESTIONS-RETURNED PHONE CALLS-WOULD DEFINITELY USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN.

I took the Q from Angie's List and went to Jim's shop. I instantly felt comfortable talking to someone who knew his stuff. The selection of fabric in his small shop will make your head spin; but don't worry; Jim will help you make you aware of whats good or not. He is a no nonsense kind of guy and straight to the point; funny too.

It went great. I originally wanted to cover the chair in leather, but that was really too expensive to justify, so Jim suggested some less expensive but still very nice vinyl that looks just like leather. He allowed me to borrow the swatch books for a couple of days, then re-did the chair in just one week. He also oiled the wood frame, so the chair looks like new.

I will probably use him to do some other furniture. I would definitely recommend him. I thought the price was very reasonable. He had an excellent selection of fabrics to choose from. He came to the house, picked up the furniture and was a very pleasant person to deal with.

The chair looks fantastic. Jim had to sew a liner to back the fabric I provided due to the weave to give it extra strength, but the overall price did not increase. He really went above and beyond for my project!

Based on reports from previous customers, I had no hesitation in taking these chair seats to Jim's. I was not disappointed. Good selection of fabric to choose and the finished product was perfect.

Said a lot above, but I'll repeat some of it. We selected Jim's because of the reports we read at Angie's List. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Although his place of business was quite a ways from us, Jim was there, he was pleasant and offered many suggestions, including to not have them re-upholstered if they weren't well constructed. We easily found a fabric from the many he had to select from and he explained the different qualities and advantages of the types of fabrics. He fixed the few problems we had (loose spring, need for new stuffing, etc.) and completed the job ahead of schedule. We are extremely happy with the results although it has only been one day. They look great and hopefully will last another 9 to 10 years. Thank you Jim.

Jim's is a first class operation which I heartily recommend. The service was prompt, the prices were better than competitive, Jim picked up and delivered the item, and the upholstering job was superb. There may be an upholstery service as good (I couldn't locate one), but it is most improbable that one is better. My next job will definitely be by Jim's!!!

The shop had a wide selection of fabrics from which to choose. Jim personally handled the order. The chairs were finished on time and the job was very well done. The work was very good quality.

Jim was very nice and funny. His fabric selection was over the top - it took me a long time to decide because of the many choices.

HE WAS GREAT AND WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT I EXPECTED (BY GETTING THE COUCHES BACK BEFORE THE PROPOSED DATE). I WAS HAVING COMPANY OVER THAT WEEKEND AND HE WAS ABLE TO FINISH IT BEFORE THEY ARRIVED.

Jim's Fabrics & Upholstery came by my home and picked-up the chair and ottoman. I leave for work early in the morning. Jim was at my home at 6:00 a.m. This was great I did not have to take time off work to meet him. I had fabrics samples that picked-up form Joann Fabrics. He looked at them and helped me make a decision on what was a better fabric and pattern. The chair and ottoman was very stunning when it was completed. Everyone that comes to my home comment on the excellent workmanship. I would not used no one else except Jim's Fabrics & Upholstery. You are the best.

WE HAVE BEEN USING JIM'S FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH HIS WORK. PRIOR TO THAT WE TRIED SEVERAL OTHER UPHOLSTERERS AND WERE GENERALLY SATISFIED BUT HAVE NOW LEARNED THAT JIM IS BY FAR THE BEST.
