Disappointed.
Description of Work: Windows and Doors....I called FAS for a quote. Dave came out on July 25, 2017, took measurements, great to explain to me what to expect and how they were far superior than any other company, customer satisfaction was number one. He emailed me a quote promptly the next day, it was over $3000.00 more than the other 2 quotes and since I was paying cash, I was operating from that range which FAS was about $2000.00 more than what I had. I heard about them on 104.1, I wanted to go with FAS cause I felt they had a good reputation, I emailed Dave about another discount coupon that Anglies list offered for the door and ask for a price on a french door instead of a slider. He responded quickly, I was impressed. I then emailed him about giving me a price on windows/doors from another manufacture (I wanted to pay cash not credit). No response from Dave since. I was concerned because he had been so nice, responsive and emphasized customer satisfaction, that I called FAS yesterday (July 28th) to see if he was okay. The lady say she would call him and find out what was going on. No response since. I'll take my money else where. I know how much those windows are. If Dave would responded with anything except ignoring me, maybe even a, no that's not possible or something, I had other options and could have stayed with FAS. Nobody likes to be ignored....I was only a monetary valued customer, so I will spend my money elsewhere FAS obviously does not need my business.

FAS Windows and Doors did an EXCELLENT job for me. I ordered six large windows hurricane windows. I wanted the best windows and in my research the South Florida company PGT Windows is the best. I got double pained, insulated with argon gas windows. The salesman was Frank Martinus and he told me that in central Florida the type of windows that I had researched were over kill for the type of storms we have. He recommended a step down in windows and price. I liked that he was honest and did not try to sell me the top of the line but he give me his professional opinion, answered my questions, and the customer is all ways right. Frank is a very nice man and a joy to do business with. The head installer was C. J. Johnson and he had Chris and Richard with him. The three worked very hard all day. They cleaned up as they went along installing each window. They were pleasant and put up with me observing and asking questions. I summary, from the shopping to the installation it was a very nice experience. Today a company manager called to see if everything went well and if there were any concerns. This is a well run company. I recommend them for your window and door needs. P.S.: found them on Angie's List and I want to thank my fellow members for their reviews.

COURTIOUS SALESMAN WHO GAVE ME FACTS AND NOT A DOG AND PONY SHOW. INSTALLERS WERE PROFESSIONAL, CLEAN, COURTIOUS, AND FAST. I RECIEVED 3 BIDS: WINDOW WORLD, HOME DEPOT AND FAS.I TRIED TO GET A BID FROM NEW SOUTH WINDOWS BUT THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME ONE WITHOUT MY HUSBAND PRESENT. WINDOW WORLD CAME IN ABOUT 2 GRAND CHEAPER BUT THERE WERE NOT ANY CHOICES, JUST A "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" WINDOW AND THE SALESMAN WAS A SLICK WILLIE. HOME DEPOTS QUOTE WAS ABOUT A GRAND CHEAPER FOR SIMONTON VANTAGE POINTE 6100 SERIES WINDOWS THAT DID NOT QUALIFY FOR ENERGY STAR. FAS QUOTE WAS FOR THE TOP OF THE LINE SIMONTON 9800 SERIES WITH THE 366 GLASS PACKAGE, LAMINATED GLASS (RATED FOR CAT 2 HURRICANE) AND FULL SCREENS. INSTALLATION TOOK ONE DAY, FROM ORDER TO INSTALL IT TOOK 6 WEEKS. BEAUTIFUL WINDOWS AND DOORS AND THE SECURITY FEATURES SOLD ME. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND FAS AND SKIP THE BIG BOX STORES, AS THEY CANT SELL YOU THE SAME QUALITY FOR THE PRICE AS AN INDEPENDENT SIMONTON DEALER CAN. UPDATE: THE SEMINOLE COUNTY INSPECTOR ASKED WHO INSTALLED MY WINDOWS AND SAID THAT THEY "DID A SUPER JOB" AND "WENT OVER AND ABOVE" THE AVERAGE INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS; SO GOOD TO KNOW.

Rep from the company came to my home and spent 45 minutes talking through our needs. We gave him 5 different model doors to estimate for us. He promised the estimates the following day but they never arrived. We then saw him at the home show asking about the estimates and he told us "I emailed them you didnt get them?" We wrote our email down again for him and he promised we would receive the estimates that evening. Its been nearly a week at this point and we never heard from the company.

We attended the Orlando Home show and set up appointments with three companies to provide us bids to replace all (twelve) windows and (three) sliding glass doors, all to be hurricane grade level 4. We spoke with more than three, but I have not included the two who should be selling used cars. Within one week we met with FHA (Florida Home Improvements), CWS (Custom Window Systems), and FAS (FAS Windows and Doors) .Overview: - FHA - nice presentation until the end when the price offered was $35,000 - After refusal, the price was instantly lowered to $26,000, but that offer was good only until he left - that sort of nonsense doesn't work for me.....He left in a huff and would not leave a copy of the bid sheet CWS - Very pleasant salesman, no "pressure" tactics - I thought his price of $9,000 was a little too lowball and after checking found he had not bid the windows I had requested - he had no problem leaving a copy of his bid.. FAS - Again, very pleasent, answered all our questions and made some suggestions that lowered the overall cost to $21,760. We visited their showroom unannounced and were treated with courtesy, After checking, we selected FAS. Delivery of all the materials took about 5 weeks, and the work commenced on time and scheduled for 4 days to complete. The quality of workmanship by the two installers "Mike and Mike" (no joke here) was excellant especially since they worked through the heat of the day - and the winows/doors were very heavy - the sliding glass door weighed 200 lbs each."Steve" the crew chief, delivered the materials each morning and made sure that clean up was OKAll in All, a job wery well done.Be aware that this is a very dusty job - there will be concrete dust inside your home (assuning you have a concrete block home) so buy some drop cloths and cover everthing.

.Their salesman went into personal stuff that had nothing to do with me buying windows. He was talking about the resentment he held towards his ex-wife. This was a real turn-off for me. You know people who come in your house to quote things for a product and service should not be talking about their own personal life. This guy went off the deep end. He had to come back a second time, and I just told him up front that the whole interaction the first visit was inappropriate, and I didn't want to hear anymore of it. His was not very professional, but his product knowledge was better than the other company I talked to. Fas did give me a print out of the rating for each and every window, which is how it should be. The reason I was changing 57 windows is because I wanted to minimize the heat transfer, and the first set of windows he gave me were not quote on quote heat efficient by government standards. I had to point that out to him and than we had to go down the trail again. I'm telling you, the bottom line is, with the exception of the proto salesman, who truly knows his product, salesmen are just a bunch of hot air.

We had researced replacement windows and had found Gorell's impact windows fit our criteria (energy efficiency, storm and personal safety). And we knew they were going to be expensive. Then moved on to researching installers using both Angie's List and the manufacturer, which is how we found FASW&D. Due to our hectic and erratic schedules, we chose to go to the showroom to look at our options. We were shown samples of each of the windows in the showroom, given product data on the options and taken out back to the warehouse to view alternate samples. We had with us copies of the house floor plans with all dimensions and elevations to assist with the estimate without a site visit. FASW&D worked up three estimates for us pricing different impact window options and manufacturers. After reviewing for several days and comparing our options, we went with the Gorell windows even though they were more expensive. Stuart worked with me via emails and phone calls to get all of our documentation handled electronically, which was a huge help. Once we confirmed what we wanted, the installers (Gary and Steve) came out to take final measurements before ordering. Gary then gave us a call when the windows were delivered to the shop to coordinate installation with us. From placing the order, scheduling the final measurements, fabrication to delivery, the whole process only took 8 weeks even though it fell across the Nov-Dec-Jan holidays. I've worked in the general contracting business for 20 years, and that's pretty impressive. But the part that made the most impact on our family was the installation. Gary, Steve and Ed did a fantastic job! They were professional and courteous, not to mention patient. Our 2-year old daredevil son and dog were part of their team during much of the installation in spite of our best efforts. The installation took seven days due to the weather, the very heavy weight of the windows, and the number of them on the second floor. Gary and his crew worked with our entire family's erratic schedules during that time. They cleaned as they went and never left a mess either inside or out. And the work they did on the windows was great. They started with a quality product, but put it over the top with their attention to the installation. They get raves on their finish product from both me (20 years construction experience) and my brother-in-law (5+ years commercial & custom window installer). Overall, couldn't be happier with both FAS Windows & Doors and Gary's crew. The windows were expensive, but we feel we really got our money's worth in both quality of product and craftsmanship.

Over all the sale of the product (windows) went very well, with no problems. There was a slight problem with the actual measuring of some of the window openings, that required a second measuring, and a change in the type of window that would be required to fill the space. This resulted in an increase in the total price of the windows. Also the inside anchoring strips for the larger windows was not included with the original order and had to be re ordered. As of this date 6/19/2011. These parts have not been installed. Overall the actual workmanship and appearance was done well. However on the larger windows on the back side of the house the top of the window frame, where it meets the sicing of the house, should be cauked, I had planned to have this done when the installer returned to Strips on these windows. Thus far they have not returned. Also there was a problem with the final payment for the windows and the installation, I agreed to pay the additional cost for the different windows required because of the inaccurate measuring. However this was not included in the final invoice I was given on the last day of the installation. The difference was $1000. I subquently told them I would pay the difference when the job was totally completed. This has not happened.

This company cannot deliver on time. If you don't want headach, avoid this company.
Description of Work: I ordered 2 windows at the showroom in January 19th 2011 Initially, the delivery date is the end of 2 weeks. Then it turns into 4 weeks, then a month. February 18th passed by without a phone call. Called on February 21st to schedule a pick up. I was told the manufacturer will be on some kind of bankruptcy? closure? Now no body knows when the order would be delivered? I have to track down my order to find out the bad news. Place an order is usually not a problem with the company. The member was a Milestone order that was in the process of being built when the manufacturer shut down. The manufacturer went out of business the day the order was placed. The manufacturer did process the remaining orders within two weeks of shutting the operation down. The original eta was 2/18 and the product arrived on 2/28 and was picked up by the customer the same day. I know the customer was frustrated because we couldn’t get a straight answer from Milestone on when we would get them however, he was told that as soon as they hit the dock we would call him which we did. We processed the order to him the same day the product arrived.

The whole process was easy. The salesman came in the home, measured the windows we wanted to replace, then gave us a demonstration of 3 different manufacturer's windows to choose from. He was polite, courteous, confident and professional. He knew his windows and his style suggested that he has a high close rate when he visits a home. We placed the order two weeks later and the salesman came out and went over all the paperwork with us. He made sure we understood every paragraph, explained what the contractor was responsible for and what we were responsible for. After signing the paperwork, the contractor called the next day to do the "official" window measurements. We were told it would take 4-5 weeks for the windows to come in and that they would call us when they were ready. We received a call 5 business days later that the windows were ready. We scheduled the installation to a mutually convenient time with the contractor. On the day before installation (Sunday), the contractor called to say that the job they were most recently on wasn't finished. He gave us the option of keeping our scheduled installation for the next day, or postponing to Wednesday so they could finish the current job. We weren't in a hurry so we took the postponement. They showed up Wednesday morning at 8:30 and got right to work. They completed 6 of the 10 windows the first day and finished the other 4 the next day. They cleaned up after themselves, were very courteous and professional during the installation, and made sure we knew how to operate and clean the windows when they were done. The only complaint I would register is it would have been good to know initially that our 3 bay windows were installed by the home builder in such a fashion that they would have to rip out the stucco to get them out. The salesman didn't notice that, but the contractor did when he did the final measurement. I had to hire a stucco contractor to repair the stucco after they were finished. I realize that the contractor is a window installer, not a stucco installer, but it would have been nice to know I was going to need some extra money to fix the stucco. I don't expect a window installer to fix stucco, just like I don't expect an electrician to fix a plumbing problem. I don't think the salesman misled me by any means. I just don't think he recognized the situation. The contractor recognized it immediately and told me right up front. But by then I had already signed the contract. The amount of money I spent on the stucco would not have changed my mind even if I had known up front. I just don't like surprises.

I went to their showroom and it was impressive; I wondered if they would laugh at my "little" job (just one window replaced). The salesman treated me just as I like to be treated and I ordered a beautiful Andersen window for my kitchen. Communication was excellent; they had a man come to measure the window in my home; he was prompt and professional. The installers were excellent; the company even waited over a month to bill me for installation to make sure I was happy with the installation (no leaks!) This business is high-end but the quality and the beauty of their products are well worth it. The window is a gorgeous focal point. Do not hesitate to use this company.
