Description of Work: Converted our master bath from 1/2 to full with a tile shower and did remodeling in hall bathroom. Randall was extremely helpful when making decisions in the beginning and went out of his way to make sure we got what we wanted. As with most contracting jobs it took longer than expected but he did excellent work and always would let me know if he was going to be late. I would highly recommend him.

Description of Work: To be honest we did not get to use him because he shared that he would be busy with a large project. He seems to do beautiful work but his pricing was vague and we waited almost 2 months and then were told he could not do ours this year. He is a very nice guy but we found someone who broke costs down and explained exactly what he is going to do.

Response from Randall’s General Construction
I am very sorry I was not able to be of more help with this project. Typically, I am processing a few estimates at a time. Once a customer decides to use me and a contract is signed, that becomes a priority over someone who is undecided. This project involved an addition of approximately 700 sf. At our first meeting there was a vague idea of the size and location of the project. However, there was no concept as to layout or floor plan. The two months "wait" involved designing a floor plan for the project. After addressing comments and a couple of revisions, an acceptable floor plan was realized. I also presented rough estimate numbers to make sure the project was within their workable price range. I think it only fair to mention that the design services provided would range anywhere from $500 to $1,000. However, I charged them nothing. During this process I had another customer who had a large project and was ready to proceed and sign a contract. Although I am very sorry for not being able to continue further with this project, the customer received substantial value from our brief association.

The job went perfect and I am enjoying the balcony every weekend.
Description of Work: After contacting another sub contractor who backed out of my project, I contacted Randall to put on a wood floor for my balcony. He was professional, came out, 3-4 times to work with the roofer, who was finnishing the seal on a balcony, and then proceeded with the job. He was finished in a timely manner, and did the job perfectly, with a professional touch. I would recommend him to anyone, and will use him again should the need arrive.

It took a follow up phone call to reach the company. After making an appointment for him to come out and take a look at the door I wanted replaced he advised he would e-mail a proposal by the next day. It is now 2 days later and I have not heard a thing. The door was to be replaced because of a burglary and I was very anxious to have it done as soon as possible. Unresponsiveness only added to my frustration.

He was here on time. In fact, he called me two hours before to verify the appointment. He knew exactly what he was doing. He spoke to me, took his time, didn't rush. He gave me an itemized list for the estimate. He was excellent. His price is the lowest I have had so far and it is without a discount.
Description of Work: Estimate for a lattice in my carport.
They were selling our house, and we needed a bunch of things fixed. He was very trustworthy. I was in two different places. We used him in Orlando, and we have moved in Jacksonville. We were not even there, but he followed through with everything what we asked him to do. He kept in contact through e-mails and phone calls. He updated us on what was going on, and he did a good job.
Description of Work: Randall's General Construction did a bunch of stuffs. He contracted things out, and he did a lot of work himself.
We had a major leak in our kitchen under the sink. Water had damaged the drywall behind the sink and the backs of the sink cabinet and the cabinet adjacent to that one. The exact leak location was detected by another company and the wall which contained the pipe with the pinhole leak was accessed by tearing a hole from outside of the house through the drywall under the sink into our kitchen. The cabinet under the sink had to be removed as well as the adjacent one. When our kitchen had been remodeled several years before, the countertop was installed last. It is a huge u-shaped countertop about 20 linear feet long with one miter joint. This was going to be a problem as our cabinets were sandwiched between that huge countertop and the cement floors below. However, the cabinet also had to be lifted over the tile lip on the floor since the tile was installed after the cabinets. This was a real problem since the company that made our new cabinets 8 years ago is no longer in business and we could not get the same cabinet fronts to match the existing ones. We were going to have to replace all of the kitchen cabinet fronts. Randall removed the sink, and propped up the countertop. He then carefully removed the cabinets He had a cabinet maker remake the damaged back of the cabinets, leaving the existing front which was not damaged.. So he was able to remove the cabinets without removing the countertop. His cabinet maker repaired the cabinets and they were better than the original as he used a good plywood instead of particle board. The dimensions were perfectly reproduced. Randall performed all of the repairs quickly and neatly and was able to leave everything as it had been prior to the leak. This is the second time we have had him do a complicated repair job in our home and he is remarkably skilled.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced kitchen sink, cabinet under sink and the adjacent one Removed and replaced drywall , patched hole in wall from inside of kitchen to outside with stucco repair outside. Plumbing to remove and replace dishwasher and all sink plumbing hook ups

Great work, still waiting for material to fix the chimney top.
Description of Work: Randall was very professional in our conversations with him. He did not perform the work directly but the individual who did worked for Randall and was also plesant and professional. There are a couple of minor items that still need to be addressed, and we are still waiting on material to finish the job. Randall, fixed our bathroom shower tile, did some touch up painting, performed masonary work to correct a framing issue and installed blinds for us. I would definetly recommend his services

Of the five contractors we called, only two gave us a quote. They came up with two very different solutions to the problem. We decided to go with Randall's design. This was a very professional operation. designs were drawn by an architect, all permits were pulled and regulatory hoops jumped through (including Historic Preservation). They were ALWAYS here when they said they were coming. We had a few delays due to the roofing sub-contractor, but otherwise the work moved at a steady pace. Everyone who came to our project were regular employees; there were no day laborers! Everyone spoke english, so when I had a question or wanted to discuss something, we were able to communicate. Randall was not here the entire time, as he had a number of projects, but he did come by every day to check on the progress of the project. The window issues were caused by a variety of problems which they were able to figure out and repair. Due to the age of our house, the siding had to be special ordered which also caused a delay, but they were able to match it perfectly. All surfaces were painted with either paint we already had or matching the paints we did not have. The deck was sealed with an oil based finish which is beautiful and extremely water repellent. They sealed all joints before painting. They used rollers and brushes, not sprayers, which put the paint exactly where it was needed, and not anywhere else. The team was very neat. They cleaned up before leaving everyday. It is never easy having work done on the house, but they made it as unobtrusive as they could. We will definitely hire them again!
Description of Work: We live in an historic Queen Anne style house with a front porch and balcony above. We called a number of contractors to give us a quote to repair a leaking balcony deck (which was damaging our porch ceiling) and two windows that had water ingress. The ceiling of the porch had to be removed, the drainage system for the balcony had to be redesigned (that is what was leaking), and new decking installed on the balcony. The windows had water damage due to a variety of reasons. All surfaces were painted to match the existing finishes and the deck was stained.

You will be happy if you hire him. He returned my calls promptly and was in the same price range as another contractor whom I had received a quote.
Description of Work: I had an offer on my home and the house inspection found several areas that needed to be repaired for rotted wood and damaged shingles on the roof. Randall was very prompt in getting back to me and did the work on time. He is good and very pleasant to work with.

I found Randall's General Construction here on Angie's List. We needed our old kitchen countertops updated, but didn't have the need to go custom. Lowe's had some really nice pre-made countertops made by Belanger so we went with those. We installed the small one first as the 'guinea pig' and found that if we wanted to have the kitchen done by Christmas, we'd better call in some help! That's where Randall came in. I described the job over the phone and asked for a ball-park figure to budget in. Randall was able to do that and also estimated how long it would take to do the job. We made an appointment for the work.He showed up when he said he would and had all the right tools and a helper, too. It became apparent that the walls were very out of square at the corner where the miter would be, making a relatively easy job into a difficult one and adding hours to the job. I never heard any complaining or muttering from either men and they maintained their professional manner throughout. The job was finished and the kitchen clean by the time they left. Communication was great, he was very fair, and I would not hesitate to use this company again for my upcoming bathrooms remodel, or to recommend him to my friends for any construction work they might need done.

Description of Work: I moved into a house that needed a lot of work, we were given Randall's name by our Real Estate Agent and personal friend. Randall has been professional, skillful, and his prices were very fair. He is a perfectionist which is a great trait for a general contractor. Randall had to rebuild a cabinet frame for a wall oven to be mounted correctly. Our new oven had some specifics that were a little odd ball. The company we bought the unit from was going to charge us $100 more than Randall just to make the cuts. Also, they were not going to reframe the oven which actually requires a frame so that it sits flush on our cabinets. For Randall's price we had the cuts made correctly, he hand made the frame, and worked around my schedule. I would certainly use his service again in the future and would tell any of my friends to contact him as well.

Randall is very conscientious and skilled. When the first inspector came to check the concrete foundation on the porch, he said Randall had actually done more than he had to to meet code. That was encouraging. The only problems we had (delays) came from subcontractors. He is a good designer. The wood frame and screen enclosure he built over our grills is beautiful. He was careful about keeping a visual balance. He has a talent for blending an addition into the existing structure so it looks like it was built that way to begin with. The walkway out front is so attractive, a realtor friend asked for his name for modernizing other houses. We have recommended him to friends and relatives with confidence.
Description of Work: Designed and built a new, enlarged porch with a "real" roof, blending into a new roof on the existing house. Replaced skylight. Installed a stained wood ceiling, fans and lights, tile floor, built in two grills, gas and charcoal, with storage cabinets. molded concrete counter top and tiled backsplash. Screened large window openings and installed new door. Painted to blend with house. Poured modern design of abutted rectangles for new walkway at front of house.

Mr. Anderson came out and carefully examined the situation and gave us the best and worst case scenarios. He gave us a couple of options and his opinion about how to deal with the problem. There was no pressure and he seemed very knowledgeable about the possibilities and how to do the repairs. He also gave us an estimate on price and the time required to complete the task. The work was completed within the estimated time and we were pleased with the cost. It was a big job which required the removal of most of the new windows, cleaning out the rot, pouring new cement and replacing the old rotten cedar with new. He brought out a huge piece of new carpet to cover our light-colored berber on the porch floor so that nothing damaged or soiled our carpet. There were two workers. They worked from early morning until evening and worked quietly and skillfully. There was good attention to detail and the room looks better than it did before. We have had many companies come out to do work at our home and I have to say, these are some of the neatest and most professional guys. I would recommend them to anyone. I have seen one other remodeling job they did first-hand and again, the work is excellent and professional.
Description of Work: We had Randall's come out and look at a serious problem with dry rot within the exterior wall of our closed in back porch/sun room. Several months prior we had replaced all the old, single-paned, windows with new, energy-efficient double-paned ones. It was then that the rot was discovered and we saw how extensive the problem was.Randall's removed the recently installed windows, cleaned out the dry rot up to sound wood, anchored the replacement wood with concrete and replaced all the wood that was stained and discolored on the inside of the room with new. He then replaced the outside windowsills and rebuilt them so that water could drain only off the windowsill. When the job was completed, everything he repaired looked like new.
We met with Randall and 2 other designers and contractors to lay out the scope of the initial project. Randall and his designer (architect) listened and understood what we were trying to build. They developed a scope of work that met our desires and worked with us to establish a realistic budget for the project. The difficulties of melding a new construction with an existing footprint were effectively solved and resulted in a beautiful Roofed Outdoor living area that includes an outdoor fireplace, TV and full kitchen. The second phase of the project included the job to construct a Home Theater in an unfinished space over the garage. again they effectively translated our dreams into a home Theater that is the envy of our friends. We have since used Randall for several small repair jobs and have always found him to be reliable and infinitely honest in his dealings with us. We are now planning some small additional work and will rely upon Randall to complete it. I strongly recommend that if you are considering Repair or Remodel work that you give him consideration.
Description of Work: We employed Randall's Repair and Remodel to perform the following services: 1. Construct a covered outdoor entertainment area that includes a full outdoor kitchen. 2. Install 2 Fireplaces. 3. Build out a Home Theater Room with full surround HD. 4. Lay ~2300 ft of Travertine Pavers in a pool and deck area. 5. General Repairs to existing Hardwood Floors. 6. Job included - Framing, Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, general repairs. All phases were completed in a timely manner and on budget. No Surprises!!!! Excellent follow up to complete the few punch list items.

Recently, I asked Randall to repair some wood rot on an exterior garage pedestrian door trim.....he found that the door itself and the frame were severely rotted in several places and needed to be replaced. He picked up the door, replaced it along with some damaged trim, painted it and installed a new door knob in a day and a half. he also disposed of the rotted door and left the premises cleaner than when he arrived!!
Description of Work: Randall has been helping me with various projects around my home for nearly 18 months...he is a licensed contractor but specializes in handyman projects and remodeling jobs. I have referred him to several of my clients & they rave about him & the work that he performs. He is extremely reasonably priced, punctual and a genuine gentleman to be with. He has replaced doors, remodeled interior space to accommodate large screen T.V.'s, cemented in Gazebo's, repaired roof's and a host of other projects. Truly the best I've ever worked with here in central Florida.
