We paid this clown a $7000 deposit but never could get him to do any of the work or even refund us any of our money! He kept ALL of our money!! AVOID AVOID DANGER DANGER!!

Called Heckard's Door and they made immediate contact and met Barry out a the house for an estimate. By the way, Berry fixed my front door on the way out at no charge, thanks Barry! Once I decided on the model and type of glass insert with mini blinds I submitted for HOA for approval. Once approved, I advised Heather and she sent the contract electronically for approval (this saves a bunch of time) and I then mailed her my deposit. About 3 weeks later Heather emailed me to set up the day for the installation. The installation went smoothly and it passed inspection with no problem. I chose to paint the doors myself. The doors are great! Better yet was the service provided by Heckard's Door. They are down to earth, know their product and are very professional. Barry and Heather thanks for providing a great product and service!

We can't comment on this vendors work as we didn't hire them. We didn't hire them because they don't provide the service we are seeking (which they disclosed honestly) and the sales staff is unprofessional. You can see that for yourself in their comments to some of the other reviewers here. Instead of sharing the email messages we received I will say only that we didn't enjoy receiving them. I'm guessing the problem is that the company is too small to hire professional sales staff, and so a family member is performing that function. The family member is likely good at many other things, but customer/prospect relations is not one of those things, as best as we can tell from our experience. Your mileage may vary. Based on our experience, we would not hire this vendor if they did provide the service we require, but we wish them luck, as a new sales staff may remove all obstacles to their success.

I had shopped at big box stores and Heckard's price was far less for custom doors. Barry was very responsive to any emails or calls I sent. He showed up when he said he would. He had to return after installing the doors in order to complete the trim (had to find trim to match the rest of the house). He did not ask for payment in full until the job was completed to my satisfaction. I would definitely recommend this company.

I met with Barry Heckard on two occasions before the work started to get estimates, select doors, and figure out details. Barry is very easy to talk to. He understood our needs and had many useful suggestions. The doors are gorgeous and the work is meticulous. On the day of the work, Barry had some ideas for framing the doors with oak trim, and the result is outstanding. The doors themselves were not cheap, but we wanted quality work above all else. We are very satisfied with the end product.

The cost of repairing the doors, which now operate very well, was $470 for four doors. To replace the doors with French doors would have cost several thousand dollars.

This is the second door Heckard's has installed. They were professional from the quotation process to the installation. They helped us determine which door style would be appropriate to the style of our home. They were prompt and attentive to details. They left the work area clean when finished. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Heckard's Door Specialists installed a door and sidelight from our master bedroom to an outside porch. This installation included removing the existing window, removing remaining block wall below window and moving an electrical outlet (subcontracted) so a full installation of PlastPro fiberglass door could be completed. Heckard's completed this door installation promptly, installed a functional door that opens, closes and locks and for this, we are very satisfied customers. However, this is where our satisfaction ends. During the job completion, several quality and workmanship issues were observed. These observations will be discussed shortly with supporting photos. When discussing these concerns, Mr. Heckard firmly communicated that the door installation was complete and a subcontracted painter would be scheduled another time to repair some wall damage and fix a large space above the door. While I can easily understand why a door company would not necessarily paint, It is strange that paint preparation (i.e. caulking) is not considered part of a turnkey service they provide at the end of the job. We were then presented with the invoice (which had the incorrect amount) and a customer satisfaction/final payment relinquishment document for our signature. We communicated that payment would not occur until the job was completed to our satisfaction. Our concerns were further provided to Mr. Heckard in an e-mail a few days later. The e-mail response received from owner Mr. Heckard addressing our concerns is one of the most unbelievable, unprofessional and immature letters from any business owner I have ever encountered from a business-service transition (e-mail response provided below). Here are the supporting details of the poor workmanship and Mr. Heckard's response to these concerns: 1. Poor workmanship - router opening not properly cut, loose Plastpro PF material falling out of router opening (PHOTOS EXHIBIT-1/2). 2. Mismatched-oversized screw not flush with hinge plate, missing required screw (PHOTOS EXHIBIT-3/4). 3. Poor workmanship around door trim, gap between exterior wall and door frame (PHOTOS EXHIBIT-5/6). 4. Mr. Heckard's e-mail response to poor workmanship concerns (EXHIBIT-7). Note: these concerns are not related to paint preparation as indicated by Mr. Heckard, but real installation defects and poor workmanship issues that should have been corrected at the end of the job. Mr. Heckard did arrange for his painter to come by and repair the wall damage, but that was it. Regarding the poor workmanship issue around the router opening (our main concern with the door installation), Mr. Heckard stated this was a simple pre-paint, cosmetic issue and we should just slap some Spackle on it. He further offered to drill out more material from the router hole. We firmly requested this action not be done as further drilling would only weaken the router hole and door frame integrity - there was never an offer to correct this obvious workmanship defect. To this day, the deadbolt strike plate and hole continues to look like it did in the photo. As stated earlier, we are pleased to finally have a functioning door going from our bedroom to our back porch, but the level of unprofessionalism and poor workmanship demonstrated from Heckard's Door during the completion of this job is unacceptable from any business. Recognizing the large number of positive reviews from Angie's List, I'm not sure what happened with our door; maybe just a bad day, maybe an inexperienced work crew, I'm not sure. I can only hope as a reviewer of Angie's List and a potential customer of Heckard's Door, you receive better quality and service from your job.

Picking out the door and sidelight went well. After that things weren't very smooth. They called when the door was available to set up the installation. Two people came at the appointed time on the date agreed to. The door being stalled was a slightly different dimension than the one being replaced. They got to a point and said they were done, but there were gaps around the entire perimeter of the door and sidelight. When I asked about it, Barry said it would be up to the painter to finish it. I explained, again, that the purpose in the replacement was to be maintenance free and there would be NO PAINTING so he needed to finish the job with composite components. He refused. I wrote him a letter and he didn't respond so I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. He did respond to that and eventually the job was mostly finished. I still don't feel like it was caulk well and they never reinstalled the interior trim around the opening. I did that myself.

They did a fine job and completed the work in about three days. This was my first time working with them, I thought the work was done well. I had some issues with them coming back to look at the locks on the doors. We did work it out but there was a lot of phone calls involved. I had one door hinged that needed to tightened, they were responsive and came back to tighten the hinges.

It went great! Barry Heckard was very professional and courteous. He came out exactly when he said he would and showed my wife and I pictures of his work as well as sample pictures of the various door / window styles that were available. We paid a 50% deposit and he took care of everything else. He applied for the local permit and mailed it to me. I signed, notarized and mailed it back to him and he filed it with the local municipality. We live in a DW mobile home so, we had a short sliding glass door opening that he custom fitted our french doors to. He and one of his crew came out about 2 - 3 weeks later after our initial meeting with the new french doors. They pulled the old broken sliding glass door out of the wall and assembled the new french doors on site. Then they installed the new doors into our exterior wall opening. The job took about 4 hours. The doors are beautiful! He did a very clean, neat, beautiful job from the door jam on the bottom to the moulding around the door on the interior and exterior. The doors meet perfectly. All door hardware was included in the price and installed perfectly. We had recently bought this place and are in the process of upgrading / fixing a lot of things. They ordered new door hardware / locks for the other two exterior doors that we matched to our french doors so one key fits all of the doors. I highly recommend these guys! They'll do a great job for you!

They were very prompt with responding. The quote was more then I wanted to spend so I have not moved forward with the project.

They were very professional. They gave me a nice estimate. They did all the measurements and made suggestions. I think they are a quality company and I wished I would have used them for the door. They also followed up very courteously.

Barry was on time and worked very hard for at least 4 hours in getting this door installed. My husband had the estimate done about 2 months prior to the installation, but everything was on time and scheduling was great. The door looks wonderful and Barry stayed to explain everything before I signed over the final check. We had some minor damage to the walls that they could not control when removing the french doors, but Barry told me to contact one of two painters, who would repair the slight damage at his expense. They were neat, nothing was left behind and I would give them 5 stars for their work.

Overall experience from receiving an online quote to meeting in-person through the complete install process was very professional and pleasant experience.

Excellent service! Everyone on the team was vey responsive to my many inquiries and questions regarding the product and installation. I called several times to understand what type of French Doors they were providing versus the "big box" stores. Each time, someone from the company returned my emails and calls and patiently answered all of my questions and helped me make a decision on my purchase. The installers showed up within 15 minutes of the promised time and they removed the original doors and installed the new product within a couple of hours. Everything was cleaned up and removed in a timely manner. After the installation, I was given the opportunity to review the finished product and ask any questions. I love the finished product and I had a positive experience with this company. If I need this service again, I will use this company.

I met with Barry Heckard the beginning of April at my home to review the project. I had a single door with frosted side lights in both the upstairs and downstairs exterior entries and wanted to open each space with french doors. Prior to our meeting Barry provided me with websites to see what may work for me so when we had our meeting I was able to discuss what I had in mind. He was polite, knowledgable and professional and was able answer my questions and offer suggestions. He let me know that it would be about a month after placing the order that the doors would be installed. After our meeting I was provided a written estimate which I signed and sent back with the 50% deposit required. I heard from Barry about a month after sending the deposit and scheduled a date for installation. He and Sean showed up as expected the morning of installation. They worked from about 9:00am to 7:00pm without a break. They ran into unexpected situations such as wet rot and handled the problem. They had to completely retrofit both the upstairs and downstairs as the original doors were installed in 1972. The installation of the new doors included the doors, hardware, thresholds and trim. I'm very happy with the quality of the product and the installation. They were very neat and cleaned up all debris. They are probably not the cheapest but when it comes to exterior doors it was very important to me that it be done correctly and look / function perfectly when done. Painting and staining is not part of the job but Barry was able to provide the names of multiple painters. After the painting / staining is complete Barry will return to install the retractable screens. I highly recommend this firm if quality is important to you.

I don’t remember how much I spent. I assume it was reasonable. Otherwise I would not have gone with them. They were great. They were extremely professional. They were very quick. They did a really nice job. The quality of work was really great. We live in a big home and so there was enough of place for them to do the job. It looks great and they did a great job. Their quality of work was good and they were professional. They complete their work in a timely manner. They finish their work when they say they are going to. It’s been a while since I used them but I don’t have anything negative to say about them. I would definitely use their services again in the future.
