We moved to Florida a year ago and needed to do major renovations in our home. Ken Tuerf (f) was recommended to us by our contractor to take out all of our carpeting and replace it with engineered hardwood floors that would be glued down. After selecting our flooring it was installed in 1325 sq. ft. (three bedrooms, living room, dining room, and family room) for $8865. There was an issue in the beginning as we wanted the baseboards taken out and then replaced but Ken told us that he would put on ?tiny toe molding? and not quarter round. What we got was quarter round. The day we arrived for inspection there was a substance on our tile floors and Ken said it must have come from the painter. Once Ken came to our house he stated that it was from his worker who had ?wax on the bottom of the bucket? from a previous job. It was all cleaned up and Ken left with our final payment. Five months later we realized that there were several areas in three different rooms where the wood was loose. In particular, stepping down from the dinning room into the lanai (which is carpeted) the floor bounces as you step on it (pictures attached). After several phone calls to Ken we pointed this out to the contractor who recommended him and stated that he had not returned our phone calls. The contractor agreed that this was a major problem and needed to be fixed before the wood planks break and stated that he would call Ken Tuerf. The contractor came to our house again two weeks later to finish some work and told us that he told Ken we were trying to reach him and there was a problem with the flooring in several areas. The contractor stated that Ken did not have the same cell number anymore and the contractor was unwilling to give us the number he did have. We never heard from Ken despite over 100 more phone calls to his work number and cell phone number (which still received messages) over a six-month period of time. We found a complaint on a website from December 2011 where someone had the exact same problem?no return phone call for poorly done work. The contract we signed did not have a snail mail address or email address and no one answers the phone?ever! The whole back of the contract explains that you have one year to file a complaint with him but that is impossible to do as there is no way to contact him and file. Vanessa Tuerff and Katelyn Tuerff, in addition to Ken Tuerff, are listed as the Managers of Total Floor Care. The website that is found for Total Floor Care is not Ken Tuerf's but directs people to a host of floor care products. Below is the list of addresses we found for TFC Restoration LLC AKA as Total Floor Care with the same phone number of 352-428-7411. 1) 290 Champion Drive Brooksville FL 34601 (current address) 2) 12167 Bath Street Spring Hill FL 34609 3) 1303 Masada Lane Spring Hill FL 34608 4) 370 Champion Drive Brooksville FL 34601 5) 3380 NE 34th Avenue Suite H Wildwood FL 34785 (address posted on previous review) We spent six months trying to call Ken Tuerf with no response and that is why we are posting this review one year after the job was completed. We thought he would have responded to at least one phone call.We have absolutely no recourse other than to complain on Angie?s List and file a complaint with the Florida State Division of Corporations. We live in a community of 3400 homes and will post an ad in our newsletter telling people not to use him. In addition, we have hired a lawyer to find a way to recoup our money for a job poorly done. The one review on Angie?s List gave Total Floor Care a rating of A which we believed when we hired Ken Tuerf. Unfortunately we now have to pay to fix Ken Tuerf?s shoddy work, which may be costly, as we have no extra wood flooring. Suffice it to say that is written above are the reasons for all F?s.
