Work was shoddy at best. Most everything had to be re-done at least once, if not twice. Although their $20/man charge seemed reasonable at first blush - when you factor in that most everything had to be done twice - I ended up paying double. AND that's in addition to the padded bills for hours and mysterious "material" charges that receipts could never be produced for. They gouged my brand new cherry floors - 3 areas, each 15"long x 2" wide. Didn't even offer to repair. Albeit because of their lousy workmanship - I probably wouldn't have let them touch the floors anyway. Their work site is a pig sty. Material everywhere, they throw everything in a pile and walk all over it. Many expensive pieces of trim were destroyed and or lost. NAILS, SCREWS DROPPED EVERYWHERE!!!!! I had to pay a company to come out with a magnet and police my driveway and yard - I kid you not, they filled a 5 gallon bucket! No respect for finished rooms. They'd walk right into a room after the painters had just finished - and sure enough, a tool bag would scrape a wall, or hand prints from leaning on a wall. To no avail, I repeatedly asked them to take their shoes off when inside. They would even wipe their feet on the myriad of mats and carpets that were everywhere. Sawing inside - I repeatedly asked them to keep the sawing outside. Their solution - move the saw to just outside the door - AND LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN - so all the sawdust flew back in he house. And the straw that broke the camel's back........... we were 99.8% finished with the house last Friday afternoon. The only remaining task was to install 2 knobs on 2 bifold doors, and to install 1 door handle in my brand new kitchen. They drove off at 4:15 - WITH MY KNOBS! I then had to go to the hardware store, buy new knobs and install them myself. Other than they are nice guys, I haven't a kind word to write. Constantly asking for money in advance. Demanded to be paid early on Friday for the week. Always estimating that they would leave at 4:30 on Friday, but always pulled out at 4:15. Spitting chewing tobacco everywhere - including my carport and pool deck! Each day I would do a round of picking up their cigarette butts, soda bottles and debris from fast food joints. I'm glad they are gone. I now need to find a real carpenter to re-do the laundry room cabinets - they are awful. Unfinished stock cabinets from Home Depot are better quality than the "custom" cabinets he made for me. Melvin Ward and his son Rusty Ward are not as talented as they tout. We did better work in 9th grade shop class.
Description of Work: Hired them for 2 projects, a remodel of a 6,000 sf home on St. George Island.
