This was a complicated problem. My house has a Florida room which has its own roof separate from the house (similar to an attached garage) and has a screened-in pool enclosure with a supergutter attached to it. I had been noticing wood rot on the soffit and fascia that was getting progressively worse. I knew that the rot at the corners of the Florida room's fascia were caused by water dripping down the screen and collecting on the corner, but the soffit rot had to be from a roof leak. So I called VE Quillen to have them take a look after having many other contractors come out and take a look. The gentleman from VE Quillen took one look at the wood rot and the screen setup and immediately declared that the reason why the soffit was rotting was because the gutter was insufficient to handle the volume of water coming off of the roof and that it was filling up to such an extent that there was actually 5 or 6 inches of standing water in the gutter, which in turn was seeping into the soffit. He recommended taking off the splash guard so the gutter didn't fill up as much, thus relieving the problem. At that point, I couldn't wait to get him out of there, because it was clear he had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. I had already gone out in driving rainstorms and looked at the gutters on the enclosure which were all working perfectly. There was no five or six inches of standing water seeping into the soffit. I went with another contractor who knew what he was talking about and who correctly diagnosed the problem: the roof was constructed without mortar weepers underneath the tile, so all of the water that ran underneath the tiles had nowhere to go and just stayed under the roof. Over the years, as the tar paper dried out, it began to peel away from the drip edge and the water trapped under the roof in certain spots along the roof, the tar paper, which had become brittle, got detached from the drip edge and allowed the water to drip into the soffit. I have nothing against VE Quillen Roofing, but the diagnosis was completely off-base and was a result of not taking the time to examine the symptoms in detail. Listen-- if you don't know what is causing a problem, tell me you don't know and suggest getting a general contractor. Don't blow smoke up my butt because you don't know what's going on. No one is so good that they can just look at a complex problem like this and immediately say exactly what is going on underneath. Every other roofer I called noticed that there were no mortar weepers, yet somehow VE Quillen Roofing thought that the problem was due to the splash guard and a gutter that was too small. To say they were completely wrong is an understatement.

I liked VE Quillen Roofing & Consulting Services. They were very good. I will use them again. We had a bad spot on the roof that leaked, and it leaked again after he had done it the first time. He came right out and they fixed it. This time it looks like they got it right. He didn't charge me to come out again.

I live in NYC and I have a relative that looks after my home when I'm not around. So when something goes wrong it's often very difficult to find someone you can fell comfartable with from so far away. i got the prescribed 3+ estimates and you cannot beleave how different they all could be. The prices some of these companys wanted to charge were obscene. i was seriously thinking of flying down my local roofer from NYC to do the repair. Thankfully I came across Brent who went to the house looked it over and then sent me a nice detailed estimate via e-mail. The price was fair and I put him in touch with my relative in Tamarac and he made arrangements to come in as soon as possible to make the repair. It has rained quite a few times since the repair and so far so good.Locking down an exact time for the repair was a little difficult, but I understand that they have to work around the weather and I'm sure I wasn't there only customer...so you just have to deal with it. I did ask them for a days notice when they planned to do the repair, I was surprised when they called and said they would be there in 2 hours. Thankfully my relative was close by and went home and was able to let them get started on the roof. All in all I'm very satisfied with thier work and I have already put them in my contacts should any thing else ever go wrong.

VERY WELL. I worked with Brent Quillen. He stuck with the project, making sure that everything was done properly.Further making sure that I was satisfied.The average contractor may have never stayed with this project.

Roofer made an appointment for noon on Saturday; workers showed up on time and went straight to work. Worked from noon until 6:00 pm through the rain until the job was finished. Did an excellent job cleaning up after themselves. Despite the extra work, company held to quote given. Highly recommended.

VE Quillen is my roofer now. Maybe not the cheapest but responsible. They guaranteed their work for one year on repairs. Yhey were prompt, courteous and very professional.

hat are broken and then charge me to do it. He also said, it wouldn't pay to do nine tiles because they would have to pay someone to come out and to do those nine tiles would not take as much time as it would for the person to come out to our house! I commend the Quillen company for being so honest. In †his day and age you don't find too many companies like this. As it was they used their own gas money to come out and tell me it is ridiculous to do the job right now. If, and when, we have more tiles that need repair we will not hesitate to call VE Quillen to do our roof.

I was very pleased with their work. We always got timely phone calls, no surprises and work done very professionally. Thank goodness our timing was impeccable. We hit the window between the rains and so far the repair has been perfect. Brent even gave us the time to evaluate other roofing problems we have It's good to have honest and hard working people who stand by their work and their word. Many, many, thanks!

On a Friday night late, I called because I thought I had a leak in my roof after three days of heavy rain. I got the owner who was extremely professional and nice. Told me that he couldn't promise anything because it was so late but that we would get back to me...I was thinking that it was going to take a while. However, he called me back within five minutes to let me know that his son Brent would be reaching out to me to schedule something for the following week. At every step of the way, these guys were prompt, and kept every time commitment they made (in terms of call-backs, appointments, scheduling, etc...). When they showed up, they were extremely professional and it turned out that we did not need any roof repairs (water was leaking from another source). They even provided me a referral for the real issue at hand. If I ever have a roof issue, these are the guys I will be calling for sure.

He was very courteous. I was just very satisfied with them and thought they were good people.

This company came on the date and time scheduled, took pictures, and gave me an estimate within 48 hours. On the day of the repair, as they were removing the tiles, they found more damage underneath than was expected. They continued to remove all the tiles, even continuing further up the roof line than the area originally agreed on. They removed all rotten wood and completly did a re-roof. This company did a very professional job. They could have stopped at the spot originally agreed upon to repair, but knowing that would not repair all the leaking they continued so the work would be done correctly. I am very pleased with how they handled this job and the work they did. In fact, it did rain very hard the day after the repair...and no leak... I would recommend this company and use them again in the future.

We had just purchased a home and I noticed water leaking, into the dining room, during a big rain storm. We also noticed some type of water damage above the back patio doors. I suspected the leak was somewhere around the a/c unit and the flat part of the roof. I called VE Quillen roofing on a Sunday. Victor called me right back and told me that his son, Brent, might even be able to check it out that day. I hadn't moved into the house yet, so I had to drive over, which was only 15 minutes away. When I got there, Brent was already up on the roof! Talk about service! He came down about 40 minutes later and went over every detail, including pictures, of what was going on w/ our roof. I felt very confident that he knew his stuff and knew what he was doing. I got a quote for less than half of his price, but without any guarantees, unless I had the a/c unit lifted up, which would have drastically cost more than what VE Quillen was charging. Of the 3 estimates that I got, VE Quillen wasn't the cheapest, but I did feel like I was getting the best value. I felt very confident that when he finished, my roof would be water tight. It is still water tight over 4 mos. later. I did have to wait about 2 weeks because all of the rain was putting him behind with the jobs he was already working on. However, I felt like he would be worth the wait, and I'm glad that I did. Update October 8, 2015: Four years later and our roof is still leak free! Excellent work!

They spent more than one hour on my roof..They did no charge anything.I had 2 estimate before that of approximately $2000-$3000 from other providers.I will use them in the future for any roof repair. They are incredibly honest, professional and punctual.

I recently bought a house that had some roof issues that I didn't notice until I moved in. These guys at Quillen were outstanding! They answered my call immediately and had someone out to my house within a few hours to examine my roof (inside and out). Perhaps even more impressive than their timeliness was the fact that everyone I dealt with was extremely professional and presentable. They took the time to explain the issues in detail, and then they followed-up with a detailed estimate via email outlining exactly what they were going to do along with a bottom-line estimate. The estimate was, in my opinion, very reasonable. At the end of the day, I was able to get the original roofer to come out and complete repairs at no expense to me (because the roof was not old enough to reasonably justify any issues at this point). I think the original roofer agreed to perform the repairs because I was able to pinpoint specific problems as a result of my recent education by Quillen. If and when I need to have any other repairs done, this family of roofers will be the only ones I call! Thank you, thank you!!

After heavy rains, we discovered my daughter's carpet was wet. We moved furniture to discover mold. After contacting a mold remediation company we found on Angie's List, we were advised to have the roof work done first before dealing with the mold. The mold company owner recommended Quillen and let me know that it was also an Angie's List approved company. We contacted Quillen Roofing to find and repair the roof leak. They were extremely quick and very professional. They took the time to really find the problem and explain what needed to be done. The work was completed quickly and we haven't had any issues at all since then. I was very pleased with this company.

They were extremely helpful in informing my insurance company of the damage. They did a great job, were professional and did it in a timely fashion.

One would think the rain wanted to get out of its own way as it pounded down on the roof. whether it was this particular torrential rampage or one of its previous relatives, it eventually did. The drops. eventually made their way into the house and took took their rest on the corner of a bed. When the clouds parted, my neighbor an avid Angies list user suggested I contact the site. Hence, I did after making sure all were properly papered, I made by choices and made my decision.

We had been away for weeks and kept checking email and phone messages hoping they had responded. I wished I had gotten more quotes at the time, instead of relying on the fairly good reports in Angie's list on this company. Now I have to begin anew.

I contacted this provider, as well as 3 others, to get an estimate from. I spoke with Victor who advised he would call me back in an hour to schedule the appointment for the following week (as this was a Friday when I called him). I waited for his call, while calling the others. I'm still waiting for his call back today. All 3 other companies responded and scheduled the appointment to provide the estimate. This one did not. The repair has already been completed by another company. My issue here is the lack of responsiveness. I would not contact them again in the future.

We could not have been more pleased, from the initial contact with the friendly owner to the equally friendly, competent, and efficient crew led by Brent. But most of all, our roof is fixed and not leaking any more. One item that was significant to me was that the area of the roof where the wood facing was rotting ended up having more damage that could not have been seen without actually doing the repair. Brent's crew did the replacement of additional wood that was needed and did not charge any extra. Based on my experience with V.E. Quillen I would not hesitate to recommend them or use them again myself if I need any repairs in the future. Also, thanks to Angie's List for providing this valuable service. I no longer feel like like I'm flying blind when I need to find a company to do work on my house.
