+ -1 moreConsidering it had to be done during an especially rainy period, I was concerned that we were risking potential water damage during the installation. But Robert's crew worked in sections, assuring that never would happen. So, from Vic's first inspection to the last of the installation, we were in good, professional hands, something that we don't take for granted in South Florida!
Description of Work: Vic Quillen came to my house to examine a flat roof that was leaking. He and I went up on the roof where we viewed the damage and discussed the repairs necessary. It was his opinion, after careful examination, that the entire flat roof needed to be replaced. Since that was not what his business is about (he only does repairs), he recommended S.R. Horruitner Roofing, Inc. for a "four-ply, hot mop" re-roofing of the entire flat roof. Even though the flat roof was done only seven years ago, it was explained to me that it was a "torch job" where the roofing material is rolled out and only sealed along the overlapping seams of the roofing material. Over time, once these seams break down, leaks occur, especially in the middle of the roof where the weight of "ponded" water is the most stressful. So that was what happened to my roof. I thanked Vic for coming out and advising me and offered to pay him. He kindly refused. Later that day he called me, leaving a message that I should be sure that I ask for a four-ply, hot mop roof. Also, there was no insulation in the roof, and he recommended that I add it. So I then called Robert, the owner of S.R. Horruitner Roofing and he promptly came over and gave me any estimate of $8,800.00. When the rain stopped a couple of weeks later, the roof was redone in a little over one day. Robert's crew worked very hard from 7 AM until dark to get the job done. As far as my wife and I are concerned, they did an excellent job. We already notice how much cooler and quieter the back of the house is. We would recommend both of these companies with our highest recommendation.

+ -1 moreI had what I believed was a roof leak issue and called the company to inspect and give me an estimate. To my surprise, my roof was fine and the leak(s) have a different source. I am pleasantly shocked at the incredible honesty and integrity the folks at VE Quillen have. In this day & age, workers in every field will usually "find" something wrong in order to generate work whether it is needed or not. To have a contractor spend a lot of time, educate the customer, and crawl through an attic to confirm that the roof is indeed okay was an incredibly refreshing experience. While this company didn't perform any work for me (at this time) I give many thanks to Vic & Brent for their professionalism, time, courtesy, and honesty. I heartily recommend this company. If you need a roofer, you don't need to look any further than V E Quillen Roofing. I know if I need any roof work in the future who I'm going to call. Thanks again!

During the inspection, Devon actually bent down on his knees over the tiles so that he could see where the source of the leak was determined to be. Usually roofers just "walk the roof". Devon and a co-worker did the actual repairs, and Devon brought the damaged plywood for me to see . He also answered numerous questions from me, which I very much appreciated. The entire job was extremely professional. All involved were not only competent, efficient, and knowledgeable, but friendly as well. What a wonderfully seamless experience!
Description of Work: There was a leak in my roof. I called Quillen Roofers, a date for an estimate was immediately scheduled. After the inspection was performed by Devon, I received a written detailed estimate within two days of the work that would be performed. Estimate was accepted, and roof work commenced. Tiles were removed over leak, old roof material and damaged plywood removed, new plywood and all new materials nessary were installed, and then tiles reinstalled. Also, sealed nail holes in ten tiles that were left open by previous roof repair done by another roofing company.

+ -1 moreFirst the young men that estimated and then did the work were the most polite and professional and yet friendly workmen that I have ever had come to my house. The estimate was promptly done, the work went cleanly and quickly and the explanation of what they did and what they found re: the problem was complete and helpful. What was even more surprising to me was the fact that I explained I was waiting for my check from social security and they had no problem with doing the work and letting me pay with a check held for a week. That's a caring and wonderful way to do business. This is a family concern and I wouldn't mind having this family myself. Great to work with you, guys!
Description of Work: Small roof leak in top corner of the roof where the trusses come together. Repair required removal of old roof tiles checking for sealant and leaks around nails or through cracked cement on corner. No structural problem or rotting was found.

We are in the process of selling our home and the buyers had a contractor come and inspect the roof and said we needed a completely new roof even though there were no leaks! We called out 3 different roofing contractors and all said that all we needed to do was repair the broken tiles and replace one that was missing. We chose VE Quillen for the job and they really worked with us to get the job done. If you are looking for someone honest, reliable and reasonably price, these are the guys to got to! Just a quick update. We have new buyers and the just had an inspection and the inspector said that the roof repairs were excellent! Thanks VE Quillen.

+ -1 moreWe had a leak in our roof where the flat roof of an add-on joined the pitched roof of the original house. Vic sent out a gentleman the day after we called to take a look at it. Vic then called me with four different estimates, depending upon how extensive we wanted the work, from a simple patch to a complete replacement of the flat roof. We chose to have the depressed area built up and then a new layer of pitch put down over the entire flat roof. They actually were not scheduled until Saturday, but they finished their previous job a day and a half earlier than expected, and Vic called me on Wednesday evening to see if they could come out on Thursday. The entire process took less than four hours, and Vic was gracious and friendly at every point of contact.
Description of Work: A depressed, leaking area in our flat roof was built up and resealed, and the entire flat roof was repitched.

I called after 9:00 p.m. and he answered his phone, and provided information and prompted me to call the company that same night. The company he referred me to was S.R. HORRUITINER. Robert from SR Horruitner immediately responded, and promptly provided a full detailed estimate. I hired Horruitiner, and was extremely pleased with the workmanship, professionalism, integrity, and ethics. The work was done as if it had been his own home, with attention to detail. I could not thank Victor enough for this referral. I would not hesitate to recommend both of these companies.
Description of Work: I contacted Victor to provide an estimate of repairing my roof. He came out and not only provided one estimate, but instead provided 3 different options, including a referral to a company that could re-roof my home. His estimate was right on target, very price conscious, and detailed. My impression was that he was being very honest, and had my best interest at heart it wasn't just a business quote.

Although their price was high I accepted it because several other companies over the years had been unsuccessful in stopping these leaks. They were supposed to call the night before they were going to come out but instead just showed up unexpectedly one morning, which is the only thing I didn't care for. There were two guys who worked about two hours. So far neither spot has leaked despite several heavy downpours, so I have to consider the job a success.
Description of Work: Fixed a leak over the garage and caulked shutter & screen hardware where rain might have been entering above the sliding glass door.

+ -1 moreAlthough I didn't use V.E. Quillen to repair my roof, I was very impressed with the responsiveness to my calls and questions. They sent someone out to examine the roof the day after I called. An estimate was e-mailed to me promptly. The price was fair and my follow-up phone calls and e-mails were answered right away. We decided not to repair the leaks but to replace the roof instead. Since Quillen does not do complete re-roofs, we went with another company but we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

The company emailed an estimate which included an Angie's List $100.00 discount. A few days later spoke with the owner and a repar date was scheduled. Again the workers arrived at the scheduled time and made the necessary repairs. They did not ask for a penny up front and emailed the invoice. It was a pleasure dealing with such professionals and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

+ -1 moreIt was leaking down between 2 bedrooms and it was in a hard spot. They came in and did the work and did it very well. They cleaned up after themselves. The roof looked great and better than what it was before. It was just a leak repair and not a replacement of the whole roof. When we called them, they came out when they said they were going to be there and gave us a fair estimate. The gentleman had to crawl up through our attic to get to the actual spot, so it wasn't easy to get to. They were quick and they were clean. We have not had a problem since. We thought the price was fair. We most definitely would hire them in the future.

He advised me of a ducting issue that was not in the scope of his work while he was doing his leak evaluation. The work team showed up exactly when they were scheduled as well, and performed careful, thorough work. They cleaned up after themselves, even bringing a leaf blower into the backyard to blow the sawdust off the porch. The team was courteous and friendly and had a professional appearance. It's rained once since the job was done, and so far, no sign of a leak. Very satisified with V.E. Quillen and would recommend them without reservation.
