Description of Work: Wanted to go ahead and replace the aging AC unit we had, which was @ 10 years old. Although it was working, our power bills had steadily been climbing and with the rising price of fuel, this would only continue to get worse. In addition, Sansone is a Home Depot approved contractor so we could take advantage of the 18 month no interest plan that HD was offering for any installation service. In doing my due diligence, I called 4 various AC companies for estimates. These were Koldaire, Sawgrass, Air Around the Clock and Sansone. I advised each salesperson that I was getting competitive bids and would be making a decision very shortly. The only company who could be bothered to provide me with a quote was Sansone. Being in business myself I am oftern amazed by all these companies that spend huge sums advertising for customers and then have salespeople that don't even bother to try and earn your business. If the salesperson can't be bothered, what could you expect from the company's service, especially if they did a poor job installing the unit! Their sales person Clark actually was very thorough and was the only salesperson who actually took the time to check out the return air box & return opening size, attic, wiring, circuit breakers, etc. as part of gathering his information to prepare the quote. The more thorough the quote, the fewer surprises when the installation occurs. Can't argue with that since they were having to remove & replace the return air box as the air handler is in our garage. Clark prepared us with a computer generated quote with various Trane models that we wanted i.e. good, better, best type scenario in terms of efficiencies. He also suggested using a brand new air handler that Trane had just came out with which eliminates "sweating" in a garage or attic environment as the air handler is double walled with hard foam insulation inside, much like a refrigerator. In addition the blower motor is below the condenser so it is postively pressurized which helps avoid any odors or gases like CO2 from being "sucked" into the air handler. We wound up choosing a Trane 16i with a two staged compressor with the new air handler. The old axiom I was used was roughtly $1100-1200 dollars a ton. So I had mentally figured a new unit should cost us around 4500-4800 dollars. Sansone's quote was $5300 but after some negotiation they came down to $4800, which may not have been the lowest possible price, but I thought it was a fair price. This was after the Trane rebate of $400 and the FPL rebate of $1,050. This appears to be a whole game on all of the AC companies part as they simply mark up the retail price and then show you all the "rebate" credits. It's almost like buying an automobile and the BS you have to go through to get the final price. I put the entire amount on my HD charge account and didn't have to pay anything out of pocket for the job. Anyway, Sansone showed up at the scheduled time/day to start the installation and both their installers were professional. The job supervisor Rudy stopped by to lend a hand and so did Clark to see how the job was going. All in all the job appears to be well done and very professional. No complaints with Sansone. The only complaint is with the new Trane air handler, which is extremely loud when running on high since the fan motor is now on the bottom. Sansone advised me that Trane is aware of the problem and is working on a baffle that will install in the return air box to help deflect the motor noise.

Description of Work: They came to my house as requested for an estimate for a new ac. They gave a very detailed estimate and a very educational one as well. Unfortunately, they were priced $2000.00 over the other two estimates I got, so I did not go with them. If money had been no object I probably would have. They were the only company to send a salesman for the estimate (the others sent service techs or the owners of the company) and in the end, I just felt that he was trying a little too hard to upsell me.

Description of Work: I have had a maintenance contract with them for years and they call me every 6 months to set up an appointment to check out my air conditioner. I purchased this Trane air conditioner from them over 9 years ago. This is the 2nd service call that I have had in all that time.

Description of Work: First, they came for a service call, and did not recomend a repair, because it would not be cost effective (the compressor was shot). The service guy had been to my house before, and I found him very honest. He did not try to pitch me a new unit. Rather, I called them later in the day after seeking estimates from other companies. In the end, they replaced our all in one A/C unit.

Description of Work: After our A/C system stop cooling, we contacted Sansone to send someone out for a diagnosis and repair. Coolant/freon was added (as a stop gap measure), and a diagnosis was performed. We were told that there was a leak inside of the house and that the A/C coil needed to be replaced. However, the repairman presented a "hard sell" for a new unit, which we did not want at the time. When he returned with the A/C coil, he was visibly disappointed and went outside and started loud banging on or near the A/C lines outside of our house. We received no explanation for this phase of the "repair work." Meanwhile we heard a continual hissing sound as he was adding coolant. (Initially, just two days earlier we paid for four pounds of coolant/freon.) After the repair work was completed, we paid for the repair work, the labor and four additional pounds of coolant/freon - after having paid over two hundred dollars for coolant two days prior to the repair. By the way, we received no explanation for the hissing sound (that sounded like a release of coolant). Two days later, the A/C unit stopped cooling, and after another visit from a Sansone repairman, we were told that the lines outside were leaking, which would require about a 2,000.00 additional repair cost. We were then advised to "go ahead and replace the whole unit, which would be more cost effective." The second repairman apologized for overlooking the outside leak before we replaced the A/C coil. Needless to say, we felt duped and robbed. We are still seething. We did have to replace the unit, but certainly not with Sansone. We went with another heating and a/c company, which was a MUCH BETTER CHOICE. After the fact, we found that our neighbors had a low view of Sansone. WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU AVOID SANSONE AT ALL COSTS - WHICH WILL BE MANY AND EXORBITANT should anyone exercise the poor judgment of calling Sansone.

Before you get quotes from contractors, I highly recommend that you educate yourself about A/C systems so you'll know which contractors can truly provide the best value.

Description of Work: Two full-time employees and a supervisor arrived exactly on time (9 a.m.) and installed a new air handling system. They worked, almost without stop until 6:30 p.m. because the previous installation had been done so poorly. They rewired, put in a new base for the inside unit --- everything.
