In February of 2011 I had a new concrete driveway put in at my house. The driveway cracked from the very first day and has continued to crack ever since. I have about 120 linear feet of cracks ranging from hairline to major open cracks nearly 1/4" thick. RMB concrete supplied the concrete for the driveway. The job site was prepped correctly and I have photos of the job start to finish showing this. The soil was level, compacted, dampened, framed up and many control joints were cut into the driveway to avoid any cracking, in addition the driveway was repeatedly sprayed with water during the first 48 hours. The concrete delivered by RMB concrete was 26 yards delivered by one truck 3 different times, not with 3 trucks all at once. The consistency of the concrete was was not uniform, some truckloads were firm and stiff and others were loose and watery. Thus the concrete used to complete the driveway was not the same quality and there were extended periods of time when we had to sit and wait for delayed trucks to deliver the concrete. The driveway cracked in the first 12 hours after it was completed and continued to crack to this day. I called RMB and they sent out there quality control employee named Paul Durand who came and looked at it told me there was nothing he could do. I complained that I paid a lot of money for his concrete and my new driveway and I did not pay for a crack the first day! He said the concrete is weakest in the beginning, but that the concrete will get stronger over time and will reach full strength in 30 days so there should be no more cracking once it settles and get stronger. I might note I paid for 3000 psi with fiber which is a more expensive concrete that is stronger than the standard they sell. I had more cracks develop over time and that has never stopped. I have called RMB concrete numerous times and they again sent out Paul Durand who has said and I will quote, "this driveway should not be cracking this much, this is not good, let me go back and see what I can do to make you happy." Then he tells me there is nothing he can do. So I have called and emailed the owner, Richard Barnes, many times and he has NEVER called me back or emailed...nothing. Even when I said I would go to the BBB and file a small claims case he never has responded. I was very reasonable and have only asked him to call me to discuss these issues and to come and look at the problems for himself and to see if he can suggest a solution for repair. Perhaps they have an in house person that can repair the cracks, etc. I did not ask him to give me a refund...but then he has not even responded and want take my calls. I have gotten many estimates from 3rd party repair places and have asked the owner of RMB to meet me half to get a repair done since he will not respond to anything from me. To this day I have never heard from him.
