Mike uses sub-contractors for the majority of his work. Most of his sub-contractors are wonderful and professional. However, we feel that Mike is not. We needed the pool done by the week before Thanksgiving because we had out of state company coming in and after talking to 3 other pool companies, we signed the contract with him because he guaranteed us that we would be in the pool before Thanksgiving. The contract was signed in late July. He is a nice guy upfront and says you can contact him on his phone as needed. But his communication, by our standards, is aweful. He did a poor job in updating us with who is coming and when, nor did he explain the entire pool building process upfront. When there were delays in any step, he was not upfront about it and made a bunch of excuses...mainly the weather. We fell he is horrible at communication and after several attempts to handle conflict in a professional manner, we finally had enough. Our tile was supposed to be installed on a certain day and the tile contractor showed up only to find that the tile was not there. He waited for Mike to bring some, but it never happened. The tile contractor had to drive and hour each way to get to our home. On his second trip out, he was only able to do a portion of the job and had to make a 3rd trip. By this time, we were getting upset with Mike because he was way behind schedule. Finally, Mike assured us the tile guy would be back out on the following day. When I left in the morning, the tile guy was there, but when I came back a few hours later, he was gone. At this point I was really upset and called Mike to find out what was going on. Mike became deffensive and tried to give a bunch of excuses as to why the tile guy wasn't there and I finally told him I just wanted him to stop the excuses and just take ownership of his miscommunication. Mike did not like that and said "People like you, who don't know how to build pools, don't understand the process..." This got me upset and, I believe, Mike hung up on me. A few days later, three different contractors showed up...we were not aware of who was coming when, so we assumed that it was all planned by Mike. The tile guy, finally able to do some work, got here and began setting up and when he saw the other contractors, he got upset and left as he wasn't told they would be there and they would interfere in his work. My husband tried to call Mike and he did not answer...we called every hour from from afternoon to evening and no response. Not a text or email either. **A simple phone call would have diffused the situation entirely** The following day, we saw him outside and we felt he did everything to avoid us. We waited while he berated a contractor so he didn't have to talk to us. While talking to the contractor, he "slipped" and mentioned that he and the contractor were on the phone together several times the previous afternoon. When Mike finally talked to us, he said he didn't call us back because he was not near his phone. Mike was NOT proactive in dealing with the issue; rather, he avoided us until we finally were able to talk to him. After that, Mike barely spoke to us...he never made eye contact or stopped working to hear our concerns. As the deadline was coming close, we knew the pool would not be done as promised. Another issue: At first we were ok with getting the concrete decking painted, but when we saw what it would look like, we knew we wanted something else. We asked about Euro Stone and he quoted it roughly $2500 MORE than what it would have cost for us to do it later. We then asked about just staining the deck with a dual color process that Home Depot sells. Mike said that it would cost the same to do that as it would for Euro Stone! That was outrageous, so we told him to credit us for the painting of the concrete deck that we paid for in the original contract so we could get what we wanted when he was done. After all that, the pool was "swimmable" the day after Thanksgiving which was too late for our out of town guests to enjoy. All in all, if you are looking for a good quality pool at a resonable price (not the cheapest nor the most expensive) and DO NOT CARE about communication or customer service, then by all means, go with MPC Pools. If, however, you want to be informed of the process, delays, issues, etc. then DO NOT go with MPC Pools. There are other great pool contractors who offer the same quality, competitve pricing and awesome service (we heard good things , after our pool was in, about Treasure Pools...we wish we would have contacted them before going with MPC). I could not honesly recommond Mike mainly because of his poor communication and unprofessionalism. Customer Service is NOT in his contract, so buyer beware. The following subcontractors, used by Mike, that are absolutely AWESOME are: Chris from C&W Grading and Trucking; 561-447-4459 Dale from DJB Max Inc. for concrete: (561) 968-6188 Fabio Junior for tile work: 561-634-5551 Final grade: Quality = A+ Price = B+ Customer service = F Communication = F Professionalism = F

He was very helpful. He dropped off catalogs and samples for me, even on a Saturday, so I could make the selections at home. I requested more samples and he always dropped them off for me. Mike was very responsive and I was very pleased with the work completely. I would recommend them and will be using them in the future for maintenance.
Description of Work: They resurfaced and retiled my pool.
