The experience with this contractor was the most stressful of my life. There was no positive aspect of my experience with Mr. Malone and his company. He provided a litany of excuses but failed to ever take responsibility for the failure to perform as promised. I am simply thankful the experience is finally over.
Description of Work: This company was initially hired in May, 2007, to replace the windows in our home. In January, 2008, we signed a contract with them to replace the storm shutters as well in an effort to encourage them to commence the work on the windows. Work was to commence immediately and we were assured that both the windows and the storm shutters would be completed by January 31, 2008. However, the contractor did nothing until May, 2008, after complaints were filed with the Better Business Bureau and the county office of contractor certification regarding the matter. Work was not completed until October, 2008 and the shutters failed inspection THREE TIMES before finally passing on the fourth attempt on Friday, October 31, 2008. The contractor was required to install all shutters for the final three inspections and was to remove them upon final approval. Because the shutters failed the first three inspections, the shutters were left on our home for over two weeks. Mr. Malone promised to promptly remove the shutters on October 31, after the final inspection but did not do so. He then promised to remove them on Saturday as they posed a danger in case of a house fire. Again, Mr. Malone did not remove the shutters on Saturday or Sunday and did not bother to call with an explanation. We finally hired someone to remove the shutters at our own expense on Sunday, November 2. The experience with Mr. Malone was a nightmare from start to finish!

Our experience with MasterCraft Home Improvements was the most stressful and exasperating of our lives. Mr. Malone repeatedly lied regarding his intentions to commence and complete the work specified in the contracts. This work was scheduled to be completed in 4-8 weeks but continued for 18 MONTHS and the final product failed inspection 3 TIMES before finally passing after the fourth inspection. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this experience or this contractor. It quite simply was a nightmare.
Description of Work: This contractor was hired in June, 2007 to replace fifteen windows in my home. A down payment of $2,215 was paid at that time. I was assured (as specified on the contract) that the work would be completed in 4-8 weeks. However, neither Mr. Malone nor anyone from his office contacted me or returned my calls for SIX MONTHS. It was not until I filed complaints with a consumer rating organization and the county office of contractor certification in January, 2008, that Mr. Malone finally returned my call. He apologized and assured me that work would commence immediately and would be completed by January 31, 2008. Again no work was done and Mr. Malone did not return my calls for FIVE MONTHS until additional complaints were filed in May, 2008. Work finally began in May and was not completed until October, 2008. The services provided by Mr. Malone FAILED INSPECTION 3 TIMES before finally passing on October 31, 2008.

I ordered hurricane shutters to be installed on my home on May 25, 2006 and paid a deposit. Salesman said work would be done by Sept. 2006 and they were responsible for getting job inspected and passed. Notice of Commencement filed on 8/7/06. Work completed 10/31/06 and paid balance. Found out permit wasn't obtained. After numerous calls to company, they obtained permit 12/13/06. First inspection failed; fixed problem. Was told by Company re-inspection date was set but no inspector showed up. I called County - no re-inspection was scheduled. Numerous calls to company. Company set new date. Second inspection failed - inspector said Company should fix problem and I wouldn't have to be home for next re-inspection since it was outside and inspector didn't need to go inside house. I told Company this. Third re-inspection scheduled - I wasn't home - inspector left without inspecting since "no one was home." I told Carole from MasterCraft this. They said they would reschedule it. Because they took so long to re-schedule, permit time expired. Company was to pay $75 fee for new permit and reschedule. Numerous calls to company. Finally in February 2008, Carole from Company went to County to confirm and she said they would pay fee and reschedule inspection. As of today, July 24, 2008, despite numerous messages left on company voice mail - no one has called me back, no final inspection done. No one I know who had hurricane shutters installed had to wait this long. Inspections were done and passed within a couple of weeks. I am now waiting over TWO YEARS to have the job inspected and passed. Despite Carole and her husband Kim being very nice and cordial, and despite me being more than patient with excuse after excuse, I have come to the end of my patience. I would never recommend this company to anyone and I am ready to go the legal route if this is not resolved.
