The only thing worse than his work is his customer service! After being referred to him by a public adjuster during an insurance claim, I hired him. I trusted his professionalism. I made my needs VERY clear. I have kept ALL records of communication before, during and after the renovation via email, text, and voice mails. I offer it ALL to ANYONE see, as well as pictures of the sloppy, shoddy work he left me with. I will admit I was very naive in the process as it was my first remodel, and he took complete advantage that. I was instructed to send photos of tiles, fixtures, finishes, prior to install and I did. He brought me samples of cabinets. I made all choices clear. He encouraged me to find alternate residence so that he could get in here with his "crew" and knock it out in 2 weeks. You can see my concern in my email to his secretary confirming this so I could make reservations elsewhere. It seemed like a big job for 2 weeks. I got NO reply. On day 1 I met him and 2 men here to walk through. Making all instructions clear. Noting items to be kept vs. demoed, replaced etc. He assure me everything would go smoothly. On demo day I got a call at 7am, could I hurry and meet his guy in my driveway- He locked himself out and the truck delivered my cabinets and it was going to rain...... I realized very quickly he wanted me out so he could install whatever he wanted. The cabinets were NOT what we agreed on. I made it very clear as to the quality of materials I wanted installed. In one of my emails, prior to the work beginning, I mentioned that I understand that "you get what you pay for" and would be willing to pay for better quality. He assured me these would be to my liking. They are far below what we agreed upon. Our written estimate was not being adhered to. After that it was like a train I couldn't stop. . He THREW AWAY our pantry doors that were NOT to be demoed. He replaced them with PLYWOOD and a coat of paint. He refused to exchange the kitchen cabinets he installed even though I paid for WOOD, and the ones he installed are sub standard pressed board and were FALLING apart the day I moved back into the house. (all conversations and work are photo and video documented) . When I checked into my house that day to feed my animals and saw his employee installed tile I had NOT picked, nor had I ever seen before. I CALLED him because he was NEVER at my house. He refused to change it. Told me to go buy my own if I wanted something else. I went and purchaced MORE tile and grout according to HIS specifications to make sure I got the right materials before he could get to my master bathroom. He then misused the floor tile for wall tile and wouldn't change it. He threw away my new bathroom fixtures that were to remain. He installed a Vanity that does not fit the space after only showing me a photo on a phone. The grout in BOTH bathroom He never repaired the initial cause of the flood that warranted his presence in the first place. I made minor requests in the master bathroom to accommodate my husband who is disabled veteran . He didn't follow through. The grout on BOTH bathroom floors and walls fell out within a week. He refused to replace it after 3 failed attempts to fix it all. And his final act of unprofessionalism was attempting to put a lein on my home!!! The ONLY thing WORSE than his customer service is his WORK! I trusted his professional opinions and have email paper trails and copies of text messages a MILE long in regards to our consultations, including questions I had about the quality of materials, and products to be used. (I will be HAPPY to share all pics, emails, texts, etc upon request.) Since it was a large project, he suggested my family relocate during construction so he could get it finished faster. He pulled a complete bait and switch on me in my kitchen and used SUB PAR materials throughout my home, including charging me for plywood kitchen cabinets (as per written estimate) but installing DAMAGED particle board cabinets that were purchased on clearance at Home Depot ( I have a copy of the receipt and pictures of damage. I also have copies of my written requests for replacement of each door and the hinges as they all fell off) . The tile and grout in BOTH bathrooms was NEVER done properly and fell out immediately in large chunks, the bathtub was installed and damaged. He sent out his men to "repair" these chunks and each time it got worse and worse. I requested a complete redo and he denied. He installed furnishings/hardware throughout the 3 rooms that I did not choose and disposed of the ones I paid out of pocket for prior to the remodel. He installed a full bathroom full of tile that I did not choose and looked NOTHING like what pictures I sent to his secretary who supposedly left the company in the middle of my remodel. In addition, he demoed my kitchen pantry which was NOT in the remodel and replaced it with cheap MDF particle board and simply primer paint coated the doors. The KITCHEN remodel was a part of an insurance claim however the REST of the project came OUT OF MY POCKET and I HAD PAID 75% to him ALREADY! When the insurance inspector came before final release of funds, he was appalled at the "finished" product. Recognized the cabinets were NOT as described on the estimate he submitted therefore final payment was denied. We refused to pay the balance of the bill until corrected. He refused to return my phone calls, refused to fix the terrible grout work and refund cabinet money, or install what was promised. Instead he had his new secretary send me ultimatums via email, and filed a mechanics lien on my home.

. We hired Blake Madgett to be the GC on our kitchen remod. We contracted one price with him and without any discussion, at the end, padded his bill and then threatened us with all day text messages that he will file a lien on our house if we did not pay what he was asking. We thought we were hiring him to do the work, from a reference we got from a friend. Instead his workers, who were AWFUL and ruined things more than they did good, did all the work and my husband and I had to supervise them because the GC was never there!!. His men got paint on the walls next to the kitchen, and we were forced to paint those areas as well. He never had his men do the trim, just the walls. Who ever heard of such a thing? Our contract stated he would use licensed plumbers and electricians, which he did not. He had his incompetent men do those jobs, and 1 week after they were gone, we were forced to hire a licensed plumber because of leaking under our kitchen sink. The plumber said they broke our reverse osmosis system and we were forced to buy a new one. They didnt figure out before ripping up my kitchen flooring, that they new laminate wouldn't fit right with the old laminate that I had around the rest of my house in an open floor plan so I was forced to change the flooring in my WHOLE HOUSE which cost me another $5000!!!! they did such a lousy job with the flooring, that I have holes at the end of some planks because they didn't cut them correctly to the wall. They never protected my furniture in the room next to the kitchen before the demolition and I came home to a house filled with dust and debris all over my furniture and in my garage where I keep medical supplies and equiptment. We asked them to save the old flooring so my husband can use it in his shop as it was in good condition and we came home and they had already thrown it out!! I could go on and on but it was one month of h*** with this company and I am recommending that no one ever use them!!!! I have had work done in my home before and commended these people on this forum and others. But I have never seen a company do such shoddy work and treat the customer with so much disregard!! Unreal!!!
