If I could leave zero stars I would. I actually cannot believe what happened tonight. My AC went out yesterday so I called to make a service appointment immediately. They said they could come out the next day between 1PM-6PM. The service guy ended up showing up right after 6PM and explained to me that I need to replace my capacitor. He told me it was going to be $480 (I was already in shock because this was ON TOP OF the service fee of $160). But no worries, he told me he wouldn't "charge me much" for labor. So I quickly looked this piece up online and discovered I could order the SAME EXACT piece for $17.15 off of Amazon or $30 at Ace Hardware. I asked him why they were charging me $480 for a $20 piece I found online and I QUOTE, he said, "Yeah, you can buy it for that, but this is just what the company charges". So I had him take the piece off and of course it was a hassle for him to do so, and I still paid the $160 service fee. I know service companies mark their products/services up and I expected it to be marked up... But REALLY?? $480 for a $20 piece I just ordered off of Amazon??? Beware if you use this company. Make sure you Google the parts they are putting on your units before they move forward with the install.

New Carrier System Failed in 58 weeks - company says Not their problem I recently purchased a condo, with a New Carrier AC System John C Cassidy installed on May 1st, 2019. I felt good about purchasing a condo with AC installed in 2019, assuming I would get 10-15 years out of that system. Sadly, the AC has failed already ( 1 year and 6 weeks after install) due to compressor failure. I have sent two emergency emails to Cassidy so far, but have not received a response . Cassidy states on their Website 90% of unit failures within 10 years are preventable with proper maintenance. My unit was slightly over a year old, and maintained, it's unclear why it would have failed so quickly. After my two emails we're ignored I called and spoke to a representative, was told a service manager was not available and my unit was past 1 year service warranty, and I'd have to pay for service call.... So far I' being told by another company Carrier may not even honor the warranty since original owner did not "register" the unit, and I'm looking at repair cost up to $1,100 on a one-year old AC. Beware!!!

They cleared the condensation drain and added Freon to the unit. They did not check for leaks as this would have been an additional $ 159 charge. One day later the unit was no longer blowing cold air. Their technician came out and said there was no Freon in the system. As soon as he started to put a little Freon into the system, he could hear it coming out of the condenser coil. They charged $ 95 for the second service call which should have been detected in the first place. I told The technician that I didn't think that I should pay for the second visit. The quote that they subsequently gave me to replace the coil was 50% higher than a quote that I received from another company. Obviously, I chose the other company. John Cassidy Air Conditioning is are more interested in applying their strict, extremely high pricing practices, ticking the boxes, than they are at solving the needs of the customer.

It was a professional and careful job. Other AC companies were not able to deal with a heat pump in a condo.
Description of Work: They installed a new air conditioning heat pump in our AC closet in our condo. Most air conditioning companies recommended on Angie's List do NOT install heat pumps in condos. I had several out and it was a waste of time. Installing a heat pump in a small condo AC closet is specialized work. If you need a heat pump in a condo, start with John Cassidy. Save yourself some time.

They attempted to do the service early, but I wasn't home yet. Then they arrived within the scheduled window and were prompt and courteous. I've used this company for over 20 years in 3 different homes. I know I'll need a new AC system in the next few years as this one is 16 years old, but I've never had a problem. I'm a true believer in regular maintenance and John C. Cassidy.

My experience w JC Cassidy was amazing from start to finish. My initial contact was with Dale Vernatter, who was much more than a salesman. He saw the job through from the first assessment to the last finishing touch! He listened to what was important to me and made sure the job was completed quickly and to my satisfaction. I needed to replace a very noisy old wall unit ASAP and Dale went above and beyond to schedule the job quickly. Clearly, he cared that the job was done professionally and completely. I would love for all service companies to be of the same quality as JC Cassidy!

We could not have had a better experience! Dale the salesman was A1, he catered to every need we had, answered all of our questions, and was always available for any communicaton needs that we had. When a message was left, he always got back to us right away. Installation was timely, efficient, and professional (men always wore booties when entering the house). We had a minor issue after installation and it was taken care of in record time. We could not say enough good about Cassidy air conditioning, probably had the best experience of any contractor that we have dealt with in a long time. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy.. I would recommend Cassidy to anyone.

Dale, the representative, was attentive to our requirements and responsive to our questions. The installation is beautiful, hiding the refrigerant lines and other required conduits inside of the building's exterior decorative beams. Visually, the overall result couldn't be better. It has improved the building's appearance, and the system is super quiet, both for the neighbors and especially inside our apartment. The mini-split approach is costlier than a rumbling, hissing wall or window mounted unit but in my opinion, worth every penny.

As you can see above it went horribly. YOu see their trucks everywhere, however that doesn't mean this is the company to go with.
Description of Work: In addition to the office record keeping being non existent. We and the previous owners had maintenance contracts with John Cassidy. When our HVAC was no longer working at the peak of the summer they came out and said we had a leak in the pan. What amazes us is that during all the routine maintenance calls no one ever picked this up. The system is 7 or 8 years old so we had a sales person come out to quote us the cost for a new system. He came and looked and NEVER got back a quote for us. I gave the office our credit card to bill the yearly maintenance and they billed us by mail instead and then repeatedly billed us saying we were delinquent. When I called and said I had an email from them stating they had our card on file, they said " oh the forms are backed up in the office and we haven't had time to input the numbers". They continued billing me so finally I gave in and paid the 110.00 maintenance for 1/2 the year and told them to cancel us.

Response from John C Cassidy Air Conditioning Inc
First we would like to apologize for any inconvenience you encountered. We strive to satisfy all of our customers, and we will take this information and make sure that our procedures are being followed. The previous owners have used John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning since 1995 until they sold the unit. Unfortunately with a contract that we service only twice a year we cannot guarantee leaks in a system, we recommend at least Quarterly service to avoid water leaks and costly damage to the residence. According to our records we only serviced the unit one time for this customer and reached out two times via phone and one letter the month the service was due and was unsuccessful in getting the inspection scheduled. It is important to maintain timely service on your air-conditioning in order to keep your system working at its best. According to our records the customer declined the repairs recommended and indicated to the salesman they were not interested in replacing the system, therefore he did not write up a formal quote. John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning has been a family run business for over 50 years and we take all complaints very seriously. We appreciate any and all feedback and we hope to be able to work with you again someday.

My A/C died on 6/15/13, and I called John C. Cassidy that morning and they sent a technician right out. My current system was old, and the tech confirmed I needed to have it replaced. He notified the salesman, Doug, and he called me first thing on 6/17 to set up a time that day to come out to give me an estimate which was very reasonable. Two days later, 6/19/13, my new system was installed. Chris and Roberto came promptly at 8:30am, and did an excellent job! They were very professional, knowledgeable, and neat. They were able to answer all of my questions, and paid attention to detail. I have used John C. Cassidy since the '80's, and will continue to do so. I highly recommend this provider for sales and service.

The air conditioning works fine, but unit does not send heat to all rooms. One room gets warm air and the rest do not so the unit runs until the fuse blows out. I contacted them and they maintain the unit blows hot air and the issue is with my ducts. This is hogwash. The old unit worked fine (heating and cooling) and the new unit cools all rooms fine. There is no problem with the ducts. There is some issue with the fan-speed and how he unit disperses warm air, and they have been unable or unwilling to figure this out. They charged me $275 for a service call because the unit was running all the time (because it didn't get the temperature warm enough to trip the thermostat) and this burned out the wiring harness. FYI, I have not paid this bill yet which I'm sure they will mention if they post a response. When one pays $4,500 for a unit there is a reasonable expectation all rooms will get fairly cool when the A/C is running and fairly warm when the heat is on. This is not the case. I paid $4,500 for this unit and I have to put space heaters in three rooms when it gets below 55 degrees because I don't enjoy waking up in a 60 degree house. I get it, it's Florida and it doesn't happen that often. But I never had these problems with my older unit and nobody I've spoken with has ever heard of a problem like this. What is most frustrating is I've contacted them three times and each time I get a sympathetic story, that their experts will confer and call me back, and each time I hear nothing. If there's a positive side, their service technicians are prompt and professional. I feel like they are decent guys who are just doing their job. But they all say the same thing, which is the unit is blowing hot air at the source and that's all they can check. I've used them for my service provider for a number of years. This level of service is unforgivable. I've never written a review this critical before, but I am utterly at the end of my rope with this. **** Update **** I called them as they suggested. A followup visit was promptly scheduled. The gentleman who came out was prompt and on time. After a couple of weeks and some research, he suggested changing the fan speed when the unit is set to heat by moving a wire on the fan motor. This made the fan run at a slower speed and seems to help the heat disperse more evenly to all rooms, and seems to fix the problem. So I'm upgrading the review to a D. I am still fairly upset about this issue. The problem had nothing to do with a 10 KW heater as noted in their response, This is a standard size on this unit. The response seems to infer my decision not to upgrade electric was contributory to the problem, and it had nothing at all to do with the problem. Nothing, zero, zip. I find this insulting, and a deflection that the problem was not properly diagnosed in three prior visits. If there is any doubt about this, I would be happy to show them the three puncture marks in the main duct where three different techs measured the heat output because I told them there was a problem with heat getting to all rooms. There seems to be very poor communication between the techs and the service department. My heat didn't work; the unit kept running and scorched the wiring because of this, and I was made to feel it was my fault and it was very clearly not. I have been a customer for some time and know they have been in business many years; perhaps that's why I'm so disappointed in their response.

Response from John C Cassidy Air Conditioning Inc
First we would like to apologize for any inconvenience you encountered and would like to take the time to discuss your complaints. The new system you are referring to is a 3 ½ ton system installed in October 2011. At the time of installation we installed a 10KW heater and informed you that this was all that your home could currently handle without upgrading the electric. The function of dispersing air flow throughout the home is handled by the ductwork not the unit or heater itself. The service call that took place on March 4, 2013 was for the main house blowing fuses. The dispatcher at 10:52am the time of the service call informed you that the system was out of first year warranty and would be a chargeable service call. Upon arrival our service technician found a blown fuse at the disconnect caused by a loose holder. Once our service technician completed the service call he phoned the office to inform us you prefer to be billed for the service call. As with any customer payment is due upon completion of the service call. Due to your good standing with our company we waived our typical policy to collect upon service and send a invoice. John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning has been a family run business for over 50 years and we take all complaints very seriously. We have spoken with our staff and this is the first we have heard of your situation and that you were not satisfied with the quality of service we have provided. We are willing to send someone out to look at the system and rectify the situation. Please contact Margaret Graceffo in our service department to schedule an appointment. We are truly sorry for any misunderstanding that was caused and we look forward to hearing from you in the future.

We were just inquiring about their service charges on this date (1/04/13) but did not have them go ahead and come do the estimare and diagnosis because we were still canvassing other companies. But then within the hour (or less), a technician showed up at my location (tenants live there) and did the diagnosis and was ready to do the work. The tenants called us and said what the total charges would be (around (250.00 plus). We were sirprised that someone showed up because we did not confirm a service call. We told the technician not to do the work because we were actually still calling other companies. Next thing I know, I got a bill for and 180.00 for the 20 minutes they were in the apt rental. I called them and spoke to somone realted to and quot;Cassidyand quot; (a sister perhaps) and re-told the story about having the technician to our rental place without prior approval. She insisted we made the error and that they don't make mistakes. Then I asked her to explain why it costs $180.00...then she said and quot;Oh that was a mistakeand quot;, huh? She could not explain how the amount $180.00 came to be when they did not do any service. Just a diagnosis. So they had just sent me the corrected bill of $90.00. I was just going to move on and pay the bill when I noticed on the top left of the statement... it stated and quot;Do Not service everand quot; Wow! They had to add the word and quot;everand quot;. So I thought I would share my unusual experience with this company here on Angie's List. I have joined Angie's List just very recently and had found excellent companies. Sad to say this is my first negative encounter here on Angie's List. So beware service callers, be sure before you even dial this company's number or even before you give them an address. They have technician ready to get to your place even before you hang up and boom you are already charged for just showing up. BTW, we got the problem solved with a handyman to the tune of $40.00 including material.

Response from John C Cassidy Air Conditioning Inc
John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning has been a family run business for over 55 years and we take all complaints very seriously. In reviewing the notes on this complaint, this is what occured concerning this client. The service call came into our company on January 3rd and was placed by Toni the property manager. The service dispatcher scheduled the call for the following day January 4th between 4-6 in the afternoon and informed "Toni" that there would be a $90.00 service charge and asked how they would be paying. "Toni" said they would be paying by credit card and to call the tenent Phyllis when we were on our way. Our service technician arrived at the property and spent over 2 hours diagnosing the problem and quoted a price for the repair of $245.00. At that time the tenent stated the she was not paying, therefore our technician called "Toni" the property manager who also would not pay or approve the repair. As with any customer payment is due upon completion of the service call. Consquently the bill was sent to the owner with no response as far as payment until March. Any invoice over 60 days past due is sent a note reminding them that the invoice needs to be paid. Because of this complaint and non-payment an automatic note was added to the customer file as to not service this client again in fear that payment would not be paid again. The automatic note has since been disabled, noting that this is not an effective way to handle non paying customers. The customer has since paid the $90.00 charge, which is truly appreciated. The invoice was calculated incorrectly which we take responsiblity for, we rectified the situation and reissued the corrected invoice. We are truly sorry for any confusin that was caused and we wish the best for this client in the future. Please note that we have far more great reviews than bad reviews and we are always willing to discuss any complaints.

I got 5 estimates and was down to 2 I really liked - Cassidy and Island Air. I actually was leaning toward Island Air but my Cassidy salesman, Randy, explained to me that the higher cost system I wanted from Island Air was actually not optimal for South Florida weather (better suited to a climate with a mix of cold and warm temperature) but , more importantly, could not fit in the space allocated to my air handler (inside house) - there was just not enough clearance for both the air handler and the Carrier air purifier.Randy also took the time to research a different air purifier/bacteria eliminator that would fit and was rated better. That was the clincher for me, in addition to fact that Cassidy was in process of installing new system for clubhouse at my HOA (so I knew other people had checked their work out).Randy also stopped by to check on the work the day of installation and brought me extra filters.I should also note I purchased their extended labor warranty and am using them for semi-annual servicing of system.I felt confident in the work Cassidy did - the 2 installers even put their names on my inside and outside units. And they left my property spotless at end of job.
Description of Work: Took out existing 13 year old 5 ton Goodman Contractor central air system (inside and outside units).Installed new 5 ton Carrier system (inside and outside) including special air purifier/bacteria eliminator. 2 man crew that did installation were really professional and could not have been nicer. Completely cleaned up after themselves. From start to finish, a really pleasant experience.

They were great. They were wonderful. They were prompt. They were courteous. They were excellent. I would use them in the future.
Description of Work: I used John C Cassidy Air Conditioning Co about a month ago. I have them on a contract for maintenance. They did the whole thorough checkup of the system.

This company was very thorough in their evaluation. They were the forth company I had out to take a look at my A/C unit. I couldn't find anyone that could fix it but they were the first to get the problem resolved. They did everything by the book. After they were finished they cleaned up the entire mess. Once the job was complete they even followed up with to make sure I was happy with the job. I will never use another HVAC company again. I really can't say enough good things about this company.
Description of Work: I had them out to look at my A/C unit that was leaking.
