A representative, Patrick P., responded to my Angie's List inquiry for drywall repair and painting. Dream House Services was one of 4 contractors recommended who also called to set up a time for an estimate. Patrick P. came by for an estimate on 5-25-20. Total estimate was $3600, of which $1200 was paid to contract the work on 5-25-20, and an additional $600 on day services were initiated (total $1800). Work was to start on 6-1-20. Patrick texted me that he was unable to start the job on 6-1-20 as planned, as he was sick with bronchitis. He was not able to start the project until 6-3-20. He arrived late on 6-3-20, and left early that day. Less than 10% of the work was completed and Patrick did not return. He did not return phone calls nor text messages. I contacted the main number for Dream House Services (which is also for D&A Repairs), and they stated they knew nothing about this. The referral was made through Angie’s List and Home Advisors, and I have email communications that indicate that Dream House Services responded to the referral. I have a written contract, receipts, and the email communication from Iresly Mastrapa Compoamor from Dream House Services agreeing to this work. I contacted the main number for Dream House Services on 6-4-20 when Patrick did not return to complete the work. I spoke with Pat DeVivo, who said they are unable to complete the project. I requested a refund of 90% of the money paid to date ($1440). I have had to engage another contractor to do the drywall repairs. Pat DeVivo agreed to refund me the $1440, and that he would send payment via money order on 6-9-2020. On 6-12-20, via Priority Mail set on 6-11-20, I received on a partial payment of $235 from Pat DeVivo, with a letter suggesting a payment plan over six weeks. I did not agree to this payment plan, and I still have a refund balance of $1205 to be paid. I called on 6-15-20, and spoke with Pat DeVivo and the company CEO, Iresly Mastrapa Campoamor Fortes. She claims she cannot pay me the remaining balance as requested. I cannot wait for payment over time, as repairs are needed now and another contractor is to be paid. I informed them I was exploring legal action and would be contacting Angie’s List and HomeAdvisors. I am requesting the remaining refund balance of $1205 to be paid immediately; a payment plan is unacceptable.
