Initial installation went well. Subsequent service and repair....terrible.
Description of Work: Had them put in entirely new system several years ago and paid for annual service. TERRIBLE follow up service. Have to call them multiple times for follow up service. Leave multiple messages with zero return calls. I regret that I hired them to gegin with.

I did not find them on Angie's List. I was not happy with the guy that came the last time. I guess their price is comparable to everyone else.

It took him twelve hours to get here to do the initial call which was a $125 to say well you need a motor and then it took him til this afternoon to get the motor and then they finally get somebody here to put it in I wouldn't recommend Smith I very upset with them, what happen years ago why I ended up with him was the guy that put our air conditioner was probably about six years, it was only four years old and actually it was a year old and I had to call them to say it's not working and they didn't respond it took him a day to get back to me and then I called somebody else who was Dick Smith and they came right away and took care of things and the gentleman that came was super great so I said okay that's it good bye you people and then the compressor went and the guy told us you know you bought a air conditioner that had a used compressor in that's why it went.

excellent at first... after one year the motor died and had to be replaced. charged for labor and was not completed in a timely manner. 1 year later - another motor. 1 year later - humidity problem -- not responses to my calls, very unprofessional...

Dick Smith was very responsive when scheduling to have his company come out and give a quote as well as the first part of the install of the compressor, handler and duct work (they told us they had to redo all the duct work while doing the unit install and quoted us an additional figure. They didn't complete the job and wouldn't answer calls. Going to the physical location finally got the job completed. The inspection wasn't done for almost 6 months days before it was due. It failed then passed. We found then that they had pulled the permit in our neighbors name and her location across the street and apparently hadn't pulled a permit at all for the duct work. The inspector and Dick Smith's employee were knocking on the neighbors door the morning of the inspection. We are still unsure of what is happening with a permit for the duct work. The City of Lake Worth has an investigator looking into the issue. They told us our neighbor's name was signed onto the original permit. She was never there nor knew anything about it so someone apparently forged her signature. The unit is working. We are waiting to see the final resolution but I don't want anyone else to get involved in a fraud situation with this company. I don't know what the result of forging a signature on a permit or failing to pull permits will be but I hope it limits the company from taking advantage of someone else.
Description of Work: Removed old AC unit and duct work and installed new AC unit and duct work. Installed new after market unit to clean the air for allergens and other contaminants.

Description of Work: I had another company come out and tell me I needed a new unit and was trying to sell rather than repair. I called Dick Smith and they sent men out to assess the problem and fixed it quickly and without trying to upsell. Very professional.

Other companies may advertise that they will do your annual service for less than Dick Smith charges, but then they try to and quot;upselland quot; you. Dick Smith seems to have a and quot;no nonsenseand quot; business philosophy. They charge for what they do, but they don't try to sell you what you don't need. I believe that's far cheaper in the long run. I call them every year for my annual service. One of my units is quite old, but it still works. I have never heard a and quot;sales pitchand quot; from them about why it needs replacing. They do a thorough annual servicing of my units. One time they did a repair on one unit (my newer one). It's been two years now with no new problems on that unit.

I talked to Mr. Bill Smith on 08/21st about my willing to buy and install a new A/c. He scheduled an appointment on 08/24 (Friday) for their estimator Joshua to come over, who he said would also do the job so that there is no gap between the estimator's promise and technician's work. So far so good. Joshua arrived on 08/24th and did a good assessment of the house and load calculations. I am happy with that. He said Mr. Bill Smith would get back with estimations. We never heard back from Bill for a week either with estimations or with a simple communication of when they would send estimations, if there was going to be a slight delay. We proactively called on 08/31st after waiting for a week to check if we were forgotten and talked to Bill, who casually said that he had our specifications on his table and that he would get back on Tuesday, 09/04th. We are already on Thursday, 09/06th and haven't still heard from Bill. I am confused on if I am the vendor or the customer, with the way I am having to and quot;pulland quot; a quote from the vendors.I understand that people get busy, at times the season is busy, there could be special demand on account of storms etc, but I strongly feel that no communication with the customer keeps the customer guessing, expecting and results in disappointment. Also, even after a promise is made to get back on a particular day (09/04th), in my case, when the promise is not kept, it just shows how badly responsive they are with new installations and new customers, let alone the thought of after-sales service if something is broken. Either Dick Smith air conditioning has too many customers that they don't care about new ones anymore or they are just too busy and are not able to scale to new demand.

EXCELLENT SERVICE
Description of Work: MY A/C BROKE AFTER HOURS, SO I CALLED THIS COMPANY AND LEFT A MESSAGE ON THE EMERGENCY BOX. ROBERT(TECHNICIAN) CALL ME BACK PROMPTLY(LESS THAN 5 MINUTES). HE TRIED TO HELP MY HUSBAND OVER THE PHONE, BUT MY HUSBAND COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. ROBERT WAS IN OUR HOME IN THE TIME PROMISED. VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE US WITH AIR IN LESS THAN 1/2 HOUR. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE COMPANY.

After calling after calling and getting three bids for the intended work, I chose Dick Smith Air Conditioning because I liked the way Bill Smirh, the son and owner, handled my questions and response overall. After agreeing to proceed, Bill said that he would have his team out to my house by 9:00 in the morning on Monday the 21st and they were right on time. The total job took them two days exactly from start to finish which exceeded my expectations. They also coordinated with a roofer to seal the roof where the old unit was which was also handled very professionally and within the two day repair schedule. The team of Joshua, David and Hector were first rate and very professional. All clean up was included and the guys were very careful not to cause any unneeded disruption. The unit installed was a top of the line Trane system which is running great! Highly recommend this company!
Description of Work: Installed a totally new complete A/C unit which included air handler system. Price included removing the old system which was an on the roof system. New system was installed on the ground and included new duct work. A great deal of work.

Description of Work: We have a very old AC unit in a condo we purchased last spring and we are snow birds but, fortunately, my sister noticed that it wasn't running. We called Dick Smith from Wisconsin and he came over the same day and coordinated the time with my sister. She was very impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of the service provider. They replaced a starter and put in a new filter. Although the coils needed cleaning, they advised against it because they are so old that they might break. We knew we would have to replace this unit when we got down this year but we were happy to have someone who did just enough work to keep it going but not too much. They also emailed us a copy of the bill immediately. My sister liked their service so much that she hired them to service her unit on an annual basis. When we get down to Florida, we will definitely contact this company for a quote on a new unit.

They are responsive to my calls, and always arrive on time. Other companies have tried to up sale me on services and products I didn't need. This company has never tried to do that, which I really appreciate.
