I had storm shutters installed for my mother at her condo in Boynton Beach. Mr. Bennett measured the lanai storm shutter badly and when it was time for installation it didn't fit. The two front window shutters were fine and Mr. Bennett's son (who was quite nice) said the rest of the job would be done within the hour and asked if I could I pay the balance of the bill. I paid the bill in full because I was happy with the front shutters and assumed the rest of the job would go smoothly. Hours went by and the workmen could not get the lanai shutter to seat properly and open and close properly. They uninstalled the shutter, took it back to the shop, re-cut it and tried to re-install it. It still didn't work. By 5pm they had to stop working and I called Mr. Bennet to tell him the job was bad and he said he'd have the guys come back and check it again. The next day things didn't go well either. This time they took the shutter away again and cut it into two separate pieces. Re-installed again...it was still terrible. They kept trying to say that the shutter was fine but no one could open and close it. It's supposed to slide like a slider door but you had to put your weight into it to pull it and then it would stick at the top. So they said...grab it up high and down low...and pull it that way. I still could barely do it. My husband is a strong guy and 5'11"....he could barely do it.I had other neighbors come over and try it....no good. How in the world was my ailing 76 year old mother going to be able to do it? When I called Mr. Bennett again that night to complain he said the shutters were fine and for me to just get one of the maintenance men to close them for me. That we his solution to the problem. REALLY!!!????. Clearly he had no intention of fixing the defective shutter. Thank god I was able to stop payment on the check for the balance of the job but he still had my deposit which left me overpaying appx. $260 for the front two storm shutters. When I called back Mr. Bennett to tell him I was stopping payment my check he went berserk and called me every name in the book and said I was a scam artist and that he needed my money to pay for other jobs he had lined up. He never made the job right or refunded the over payment for the front shutters. Clearly he steals from Peter to pay Paul and does not have a financially solvent business or a quality product or any kind of work ethic. Honestly...I think I made a lucky escape for only $260. Mr. Bennett was a disaster all around and PLEASE listen to us when we say to take your business elsewhere.
