Vero Beach Roofing

I am the President of a small condominium association here in Vero Beach. We are very small ( only 8 units ), so we operate on a shoestring budget. In May of 2010, the roof of our electric room developed a leak, and, because of the very nature of the room, had to be repaired IMMEDIATELY. I no idea as to the severity of the leak, or how much the roof was in disrepair. All I knew is that the roof was VERY small ( about 4 feet square ). I called Vero Beach Roofing, and they came right out. The gentleman told me it would be "about" $800.00 to repair the roof. I was under the gun, as something HAD to be done that day, and no other roofing company could make it out that day, so I signed the estimate. The men came back and spent less than 15 minutes fixing the roof, and left a bill for $800.00. Even though I had agreed to the ESTIMATE, I never dreamed that the work would only take 15 minutes and cost $800.00! It seems strange that the estimate EXACTLY matched the final amount of the bill. I wrote the company a letter imploring them to reconsider the charges because it just did not seem right to charge that much money for less than 15 minutes work. They would not budge. I feel this company took advantage of the situation, and did not even consider working out a compromise. BAD business if you ask me.

We had trouble finding a time that I could take time off work and they were available, but finally found a time three weeks from the time I called. My appointment was for 9 in the morning and I had to take the morning off work in order to be there for the estimate. A representative from the company called the day before the appointment to confirm that I would be there for the estimate. By 9:30 the morning of the estimate no one had arrived. I called the company and reached the woman who had made the appointment and confirmed it. She asked me to wait for a moment while she checked on the estimator. When she came back on the phone she told me that she was sorry but they were too busy and were not taking on any new business!!! I told her that they should be ashamed of themselves for having people lose money from work to be able to meet with them, confirm that they would be meeting, and then not show up. Hopefully none of you will waste your time on this company that thinks so little of its customers and its own reputation!
