Treasure Coast Corals

After much deliberation and receiving repeated confirmation from Jon that $2500 would cover "everything except fish and coral",we placed the order with Jon. We were required a down payment of $1000 and told everything would be ordered right away and the install would take place in approx 2 months. Soon afterward we were told that we needed to pay in full so everything could be purchased. We were told several times that everything was ordered. Each time we were lied to. Days before the tank was to be installed, Jon again asked us to confirm what was received and what still needed to be ordered. He told us it was "hard to remember". My reply... Jon, you took 100% of the money. Why didn't you order 100% of my stuff then? Here's his reply... "There seems to be a miscommunication issue with the direction of how you would like the components of your system installed. You were charged for what was on the original quote. TCCorals will not be installing your system. All of your components will be here for you to pick up. Of course, tthere are no other costs associated or required transactions with us as you desired. If you would like a reference of someone to install your system I would be happy to give you contact info and I am sure Cindi's will provide you with great advice and service. We jump through hoops with a smile for clients that treat us well and realize we have to make a living. I personally work for myself so I didn't have to deal with a boss. You may have thought I was being insincere before or trying to make s*** up as I go.Believe me now. We aren't doing future business. We just don't mix. No hard feelings though. I will have all of your equipment ready Jeremy, Enjoy your weekend bud!" He quit! BTW Jeremy is his cabinet builder who was being pressed into handling the install due to lack of staff. We wound up hiring a young man that used to work for Jon (also didn't mix). I paid him $700 to do my install. When he picked up my stuff, Jon actually edited the invoice to falsely show a cheaper pump than what was quoted and paid for! I have three separate copies of the invoice and receipts in my Email. The last was dated the week before Jon quit the job. All show the Waveline DC1000. I had to order that pump over again myself as the pump he ordered , edited the invoice to, and sent to me was insufficient. The lighting, thermometer, and rock were also insufficient and had to be upgraded. Jon later admitted a proper quote would have scared us off...That quote should also have included installation costs (100$/hr), 85 lbs of salt water, cost of supplies to cure my own dead rock first My take is that Jon is struggling. He recently moved to a smaller location. Most of his staff has been let go. He has little to no inventory, and little idea how to treat customers or how to run a business. With a little luck Jon will be out of business before he can do this to many more people. "No hard feelings though"!
