In March of 2020 we realized we could no longer put off getting a new roof on our house. We got four bids, all of which were within a few hundred dollars of each other. But only one company, Orchid Island Roofing, had the courtesy (smarts?) to send a human being to check out the roof personally. The others developed their bids using satellite imagery alone, which is fine but incapable of pinpointing special trouble spots. The Orchid Island crew was thoroughly professional, no pickup laborers among them. They really knew their business and were fast and incredibly efficient. Most impressive was the work they did on the chimney for our fireplace. It had been improperly built in the first place, and leaked for more than 20 years without our realizing it. All the plywood inside was rotted out. They had to cut away the front of the chimney, redo everything inside, and rebuild it. It was finished in three days and there’s no sign now that it was ever touched. And no leak. Outstanding work. Orchid Island Roofing is a company that earned my trust and my gratitude.
