HTL Enterprises

Due to unforeseen medical circumstances we found ourselves unable to care for our lawn properly. I contacted several companies advertised in a local online forum. Much to my dismay the ones who bothered to call back were rude and ridiculously priced. I have used lawn services in the past and am fairly familiar with the routine. The ONE company that did meet my financial needs made an appt time to come out the next day to do the work, but never showed up! When I texted him and told him I'd been waiting all day, he responded, "I got tied up on a really huge job." He never even apologized. I guess my lawn wasn't profitable enough?? That was the impression we got. Needless to say I refused to reschedule with them. So, I went looking one last time and found HTL Lawn Services. I texted a photo of our property, the hedges/front yard, pics from the back yard to show the grass length, to the owner, Loren. He called me right away so we could discuss details. He was friendly, very well spoken, professional, yet personable. I could tell right away he cares about his business and his customers. No fluff, straight forward. We agreed on a price for the first time cut and he gave me a day they'd be out. Much to my surprise he called back and was able to get to our house that same afternoon. He told me in advance the name of the person who would be coming out. I told him I needed whoever was coming out to call first as I had animals I needed to put up. He was completely accommodating. When the time came later that day, his person John texted me, as promised, that he was on his way. John was a joy to deal with. He listened carefully as my husband told him certain things about the yard. They shook hands and John went to work, and man, does this guy WORK!! He hustled yet was completely thorough. He cut the lawn, edged everything (we have a pool area, too), weed ate the entire property, blew the stuff away and didn't even get any in the pool. (Non screened pool area). He also took care of our monster hedge that had grown out of control out front. He made it look lovely again. When you have someone not well in your family even the smallest things are a HUGE relief. In one day I was able to make contact, discuss details, get a quote and have the service done. Of course that may not be the norm (same day service), but I could tell Loren was really trying to please us. We had a second service done. I was again contacted and reminded that they'd be out and given a time window. The second experience was as thorough as the first and at that point we decided to hire them on a monthly basis. That is what the "approx $90" represents. Understanding each lawn is different, and services may vary depending on your needs. I found them extremely fair priced and they beat the other prices I was quoted (the ones who bothered to return my call). I am really tickled that I happened upon them and had such a good experience. I do not know if this will be temporary or a permanent situation, medically speaking, but we need the service right now and we are both so pleased that HTL Lawn Service was / is there to service our home. I would confidently recommend them to anyone needing lawn care / maintenance. Loren and his employees make your home feel important to them, and, make you feel comfortable in the process. Thanks Loren and Crews!! *********************** UPDATE *********************** 08/01/15 I am writing this update because my name/addr is on it and it's shared with my neighbors and I will not misrepresent my experience. Things have been fine with HTL Lawn Service, I stand by what I wrote in my previous (above) review dated 03/19/15, as that's exactly what happened. But things have changed and I feel responsible to give the full picture, as much as I felt it appropriate to give a rave review in the beginning. For the last 4 months I have received weekly service from HTL Lawn Care for $90/month and things have been fine, normal routine, they come each week on a regular schedule and I had no complaints. I was having a conversation with the owner, Loren Hockensmith, at my front door 2 weeks ago....... We had a very pleasant conversation, until he informed me (and I'm going to paraphrase this) that "He didn't calculate my property correctly in the beginning; he didn't realize the size of it and he's not making any money off my property so he needs to increase the price." Mind you, I sent photos of my property to Loren/owner in the beginning to GET the quote and I told him my property was less than a 1/2 acre but bigger than a 1/4........ Add to that, they have been servicing my yard the last 4 months.... Its size was obviously no secret. He texted me a 'new price' later saying "Properties like yours I usually charge $165 a month but since you're a loyal customer, I'll do yours for $125 a month." This is a $35 a month increase. Not only is that out of my budget but when my husband (a small business owner himself) heard this, he went thru the roof. In our times of Google maps and other available sources, there is no reason HTL couldn't have looked up my property to see its size.... Again, they were provided photos and have been servicing it for FOUR MONTHS with not a word. We have a very basic yard.... The back, flat, plain, no hedges or trees to tend to.... The front has minimal hedges that need a trimming once a month or so..... For this he calls it the 'Diamond Service.' I found it completely unprofessional to try to change prices, so drastically at that, after the quote and after KNOWING my property all these months.... His crews were here.... It was no secret. I have terminated my business with HTL Enterprises and hired a new company.... They are doing the exact same job, for $5 more a month ($95), and that includes pruning my palm trees out front as often as needed, which HTL did not include in their (old OR new) quote. I can say with honesty that Loren is a very nice man, very pleasant, but that is not enough to make up for what my husband and I consider unprofessional dealings.... This is business..... This is why my ratings for price and professionalism have dropped considerably. I need to say also that I changed "would hire again" to no because I can't afford their rates. If you can afford them, they are reliable and do a decent job.

This guy is great, he mows the lawn as often as needed, for 1 fixed price. He is very professional and takes pictures for me afterwards, since I live out of state. I highly recommend him, he is very dependable and professional.
