Green Island Lawn and Pest

I have used this company 3 years. At first, my lawn improved and fire ants removed. I was very happy. I bag my lawn and hand pull weeds, an obsessed lawn person. However, service has declined. I call office and receive no calls back from promised follow-up service. My yard has been overtaken with sedge. I paid extra for "special" weed control over my normal fee. They advertise beautiful golf courses, but my lawn is slowly getting worse and ugly. I showed guy spraying my lawn and he said, yes, that's hard to get rid of, but no solution. I'm ready to dig up a huge section of lawn and out rock over it. I was promised a return visit and am still waiting. I plan to drop this company.

Green Island Bait and Switch We asked Green Island to come out and give us a quote to do insect and weed control on our lawn. Brooke came out in a few days to inspect, and provided us with a quote the same day. It was for $1000 per year for 6 applications. That was quite a bit more than our current service from Sandpiper, but Brooke said that their application also included weed pre-emergent, which Sandpiper does not. So we remained interested. We asked for verification in writing that their application did include weed pre-emergent. Instead of a clarification, we got a revised quote for $1975 and a note from the owner Michael D’Ambra saying that they only did complete service for houses in our area! We have never had a lawn service dictate that their lawn service MUST INCLUDE plant maintenance, and that was not our original discussion with them when they said they could do what we wanted, including lawn service only. The additional $975 (which doubled their already high quote) was for only 4 applications per year for planting and palms for fertilization and insect control! Since we currently do the management of our plants and trees ourselves, we realized that this additional $975 was being charged for about 5 hours work for the year or $195 per hour. This is the classic BAIT AND SWITCH Tactic! Additionally, the require a ONE YEAR CONTRACT WITH A CANCELLATION FEE, nothing any other yard service requires! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH THESE UN-TRUST WORTHY PEOPLE.
