+ 0 moreI had several choices of companies to choose from and after reviewing each proposal I selected Courtney Electric. What a good choice, They installed the generator outside and a new breaker panel inside. In addition they installed two load sheading controllers and also some extra work that I requested. I am not unfamiliar with electrical work and I was able to observe the quality and professionalism of Scotty and Dillon during the installation. Every facet of my experience dealing with Courtney Electric was A + + and I would hire them again in a second. R. W. Matthews

+ -1 moreI was very impressed with all aspects of the job. I watched the entire project from start to finish, and any questions I had were answered. The physical installation of the Generator was done with a proper foundation and within Code. Changing out the electrical panel was challenging but, Scotty and Dillon did the neatest and most .accurate re-wire job I has ever seen. I had some extra work done, I had 2 quad electric outlets installed in my garage. Neat!, neat! and quick work. The owner, Steve Courtney, checked on the job occasionally and we got along great, he and I both being ex Navy. Over all an outstanding job, would hire again in a heart beat!!!!

Description of Work: We had a poor grounding situation in our utility room. We were getting occasional shocks when using the washer/dryer or outdoor shower attached to the utility room. The owner of Courtney's did an excellent job of tracking down and repairing the problem. I would highly recommend him.

+ -1 morePre-purchase home inspection revealed the electric service to the house required critical safety updates. My insurance company set a short suspense date requiring the updates to be inplace prior to issuing the final policy and a safe dwelling for my family to move into. After reviewing many entries in Angies List for electrical contractors, Steve's reviews by far set him far apart from the rest, and an appointment was made for his evaluation of the project. Upon meeting Steve and reviewing the work with him, I felt assured that the project was in good hands. Steve provided me with options and suggestions improving upon the project and obtaining the best value for each dollar. Due to my work requirements I was out of state during the entire project, however "Courtney Electric" provided me with exceptional worry free service. Steve's honesty, dedication and work ethic allowed me to stay focused on my job while he did his. I placed my trust and my families home with Steve without reservation. His work reflected true craftsmanship, which was well noted by many of my "new neighbors" who stopped by during the project to see the ongoing work. All were very impressed as the work progressed as well as Steve's professionalism. The project was completed on time and on budget, all inspections were complied with, totally satisfying my insurance companies requirements while providing me with peace of mind.
Description of Work: Home and garage required extensive electrical service updates due to unsafe conditions discovered during pre-purchase inspection. Project included the installation of an exterior load center (circuit breaker box), replacing an antiquated service box which had been located inside a kitchen cabinet. Installation of a 200 amp meter and installation of a new service feeder riser. Service feeder riser required as the service connection to the house was a potential fire hazard due to improper connection contact. Removed and replaced improperly wired A/C disconnect unit. Rewired kitchen range outlet, installed GFCI outlets in kitchen. Removal of improperly installed wiring in the "one car garage"; garage had been converted into a laundry room. This included removal of incorrectly wired outlets for a washer and dryer which had been installed next to the water supply, creating a potential shock hazard. Provided new electrical service for homes detached "two car garage", installing a separate service panel in the garage for future expansion of shop tools and appliances. Installed new laundry electrical service into the two car garage. Added a convenience shop light over the laundry area enhancing illumination. Installed convenience GFCI outlets throughout the garage. All wiring in the garage and home installed with conduit protection and the installation of a new grounding rods for safety. Service included requisitioning of all permits and scheduling of after-action inspections.

+ -1 moreHe is awful. He was the only electrician in the area. He stole my sons, my daughters and my identity. When the AC company brought him over to check out the job he even took a lamp of mine with him. I had to fire the AC company who recommended him. He didn't even perform the work he was hired to do. I paid him an excess of $3,000 so that he would be out of my house and so that he couldn't put a lean on my home. He said that I couldn't claim he didn't do the work, even though he didn't do it and I still paid him. He is not professional and not honest.
Description of Work: He was recommended to me by ARS Air Conditioning and Plumbing. He performed electrical work with my AC system, a panel in my shed and with door bells in our home.

+ 2 moreSteve Courtney came out and looked at what I wanted to have done. He said he'd work up an estimate and email. Because of the nature of the work, he offered a time and material estimate, just what I needed. His electrician, after calling in sick the first day, showed up promptly, listened attentively and got to work. Because the work had to be done in a very small, lived-in house being remodeled, quarters were tight but Dan did not let that interfere with his progress. He was efficient and thorough and finished up in a day and a half. Frankly, some other "professionals" have refused to do work in a remodel and one told me I needed a service upgrade before he would consider doing the work. I was very happy with the attitude of Steve and Dan and was treated extremely well. When I had a question about a material charge, Steve researched it and made the adjustment (downward). I was delighted and relieved to have found such a good company.
Description of Work: Hooked up my pool's heat pump, removed ceiling fans and installed light fixtures, added light switch, cleaned up breaker box, added breaker, more.

I also wanted to have my house circuit breaker modified to allow the entire house to run on a generator should I lose power. And finally, I wanted in-ground landscape lighting added to my newly installed landscaping. Steve's company performed all these tasks in a timely manor at a fair cost. But more than just "doing the job", he made suggestions to improve both the look and effectiveness of the results. Having options is a good thing in my mind even if I do not chose to adopt them. He was polite, professional, and a pleasure to have in my home.
