I can't say enough positive remarks about Oleg (Alex) and his team... basically one other guy - Kirol (spelling???). They were awesome. The demolition and removal took about 2 days - tops. They were clean and orderly and totally respectful of my space. They went systematically through the process of rebuilding. They made some great recommendations for shifting a few things around and were completely responsive to my ideas about the kitchen. The basement is not an easy space (in/out) or to work it, but they did a great job. They kept the project moving and on time. I purchased appliances from Sears (got a great deal around Columbus day for the "set") and did the cabinets through a local Ace affiliated place (C&R). At one point, Oleg realized that the corner cabinet was too wide to fit in my door, and I trusted him completed to cut it (from the back/side) in order to get it downstairs and installed properly. I wanted the built-in corner banquet and brought in a few pictures to show them... and what Kirol did is amazing! I had priced out storage benches as an option and ended up saving over $1,000 buy doing the custom build. The kitchen looks phenomenal.
Description of Work: Oleg and his team were the contractors for my kitchen renovation. I have a basement kitchen in Center City Philadelphia and they did an INCREDIBLE job - gutting the entire old kitchen - including removing the walls and the old tile flooring that had been glued in to a concrete slab. They rebuilt walls, re-set the concrete slab so it doesn't have an awkward slope, rebuilt the staircase and expertly installed new tile flooring, cabinets, backsplash and accessories. They even did a custom built-in banquet for my seating area!

Oleg and Sweet Home Improvements were the first contractors we called for a free estimate when we wanted to have our bathrooms redone. Oleg returned my call the same day and we set up an appointment for the next day. Oleg arrived on time and provided great ideas as we walked him through the three bathrooms we wanted updated. He even provided great ideas to expand our master bathroom into an adjacent walk-in closet to allow for more bathroom space that we wanted. Oleg's estimate along with all others we receive was for labor and building materials only. Fixtures, lighting, etc. were picked out and purchased separately by my wife so that we could ensure we purchased exactly what we wanted. Oleg was the most reasonable and easiest to get a hold of regarding the estimate and follow-up questions - so my wife and I decided to go with Sweet Home Improvements. We have absolutely no regrets and would recommend him to all our family and friends. We also plan to use him for any future home remodel projects. Each day - Oleg and his team arrived promptly and worked hard to remodel our bathrooms. Each evening the team was sure to clean up so that our house did not become a mess. First, they tackled the hall bathroom where they took the room down the studs. The team installed heated tile floors, new bathtub, toiled and double vanity. Next light fixtures, exhaust fan and recessed light over the tub were also put in. Oleg did a great job with the tiles for the tub area and floor. They even put in crown molding, baseboards, and new doors which really make the room shine. Next they tackled the master bathroom. Again taking it down to studs, however, they expanded the room into an adjacent closet. It was a big job, however Sweet Home Improvements handled it nicely. The toilet and double sinks were moved so new piping was run. All new lighting and fixutres were put it similar to the hall bath and it looks amazing. Finally, Oleg worked on a small half bath off the laundry room. The team installed a new toilet, sink, and light fixtures. They also put down new tile floor which really brightens up the room. Overall, we could not be more pleased with our bathrooms. Sweet Home Improvements did outstanding work and I would recommend them to anyone.

He was fantastic. I spent about $17000. He came up with his own ideas and thought out of the box, he was always on time, cleanup was impeccable and I would recommend him to anybody. He's fantastic and does a great job. He was half the price of anybody who walked in our door.

Alex and his team were fantastic from start to finish! Very respectful and punctual! He was on time for the estimate and gave us the best price. This was no small job! We had a complete kitchen remodel done. Alex had to close some walls, extend others, did the flooring, cabinets, installed appliances, painted, installed tile backsplash, electrical, etc. We also added a few extras along the way and Alex and his team were extremely accommodating. They were here and on time every day. We will absolutely be hiring them in the future. We highly recommend!!!

3/18/2014 When we reviewed with Alex what we wanted from our bathroom renovation, he made some helpful suggestions such as about additional lighting which we got and have already put to use, and about ways to manage costs without sacrificing quality. His price and estimate on project time was 100% accurate. When he did not need to pull all the permits initially expected from the township and included in the contract estimate, he immediately informed us. Instead of crediting us back money, he was willing at our request to add a design change at no additional cost. Throughout the process, he engaged us in dialogue about our design and other preferences, road blocks, and how to effectively deal with failure of a purchased faucet (it was ultimately replaced). Alex was on-site every day, with some other additional staff well known to him. He worked steadily and diligently. Since this is our only bathroom, he made every effort to ensure that we had use of the essentials throughout most of the process. We would not hesitate to hire him again and we are really enjoying our new bathroom!

Although I did not hire Alex, I was very impressed with his professionalism, responsiveness and courtesy. He contacted me promptly and scheduled an appointment for the next day. He also answered many questions I had after our initial meeting. In the end, I decided to hire another contractor that had recently done remodeling for two of my friends. They highly recommended this contractor, so I decided to go with someone who had done work for people I know. Although I cannot comment on Alex's quality of work, I have no doubt that he would have done an excellent job.

I can?t say enough about this company Alex is great to work with. He has completed two projects for us and we are lining him up for project number three. Project 1 Demo shower and create closet in its place. We bought a home were the first floor family room had been converted to a bedroom with a shower. We converted the bedroom back to a family room and Alex came in and did the finishing touches to the room and converted the shower back into the closet. It looks awesome. They showed up on time every day and made sure we were updated when we ran into a few issues we hadn?t discussed. Also we had a misunderstanding on my part when I thought some work was covered that wasn?t and he did the work anyway for no extra cost. Project 2 stabilized basement stairs, add outlet and waterproof and paint basement walls. Easy to communicate with, very responsive to emails came out on short notice did the work with ease including an awesome cleanup job when it was all done. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone.

My husband always did our contracting work himself and was extremely critical of anyone coming into our home. It worked out wonderfully and everyone has commented on the beautiful transformation. His additional workers were on time clean and efficient. We supplied all of the materials such as ceramic tile, toilet, tub, vanity, fixtures, basically anything you need to pick out to your own tastes. They supplied building items such as pipes, electrical, etc. I have already recommended him to friends and family. The biggest comment of praise anyone can get is that my husband said "he's pickier about details than I am". We would use Alex and Sweet Home Improvements again without question.

Alex provided us with the best price for labor and basic bathroom materials. We then provided all the supplies and it worked out great. He had made suggestions that we definitely considered, like making sure you have enough time for the materials to get delivered so the job would not get delayed. He had also made sure that the schedule for the job was met on target. We had him get permits for the work, and he worked with the inspectors exclusively, we didn't have to do anything but make sure all the materials are ready for him to use. There were a few items that we had missed and he had inspected the materials to be used the next day, and so for the items that were missing, he had told us and either we can get it or he can get it and just charge us for the exact cost, no padding or extra profit for him. All in all, we loved the outcome of his work, and will definitely hire him again for our other household work.

I called and spoke to Alex on Friday, April 26th. I told Alex what I wanted to get done for my bathroom and he gave me an appointment for today at 10am to take a look at the bathroom and give me an estimate. He never showed up or called. I had a lot of other things to do today and he put me behind by almost two hours, very unprofessional. I will not contact this company again.

Response from Omkal Construction, Inc.
This appointment was not scheduled right the next day as he mentioned, it was scheduled for the following Saturday. If this person was waiting for me at a wrong time he could of at least called and confirm on the appointment and not continue waiting. There was a misunderstanding on his end. I contacted this person after his comments to resolve this issue, however, he told me he didn't want to talk about it and not to call him again.

Description of Work: I made an appointment for an estimate but was advised not to put anymore money into the house I'm selling. He was understanding and I'd call him again in the future for any estimates. On the morning, he was supposed to come for the estimate, he did call about an hour early to say something had come up and he'd have to re-schedule. This was irrelevant to me and, as I said, I'd call him in the future.

Alex's price was for labor and all construction materials. We purchased the tile and all fixtures. Alex and his co-worker completely gutted the bathroom down to the studs. The remodel included a beautiful walk-in tile shower where the bathtub had been. We could see as the work progressed that they took the time to apply the necessary foundation for the tile floor of the shower. Even when we ran into a few glitches with some of the fixtures we had purchased, they were able to make adjustments so that everything fit properly. They arrived early each morning, worked hard all day, and at the end of each day, they completely cleaned up after themselves. They were pleasant to deal with, and accommodated any additional requests we had. The finished product is both beautiful and functional. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. We will definitely call Alex for our next remodeling project.

Alex (Oleg) and his team are simply artisans. There is no other way to describe what they can do. They are amazing! I'm willing to bet that our home was one of the biggest challenges that Sweet Home Improvements has taken up (aside from the project on their website). It was ambitious and large in scale. We had several people come to the house to give us prices before Alex came through. I have an architectural background and provided all of the contractors a scope of what we wanted done. Numerous contractors told me what we wanted was just not feasible, "impossible", "going to cost you like 40 grand just to start..." I, of course, begged to differ considering I've lived in the home for 32 years, knew where the load-bearing walls and such were, etc. Our house was built in 1978 and, as we would find out, wasn't built to code specifications. When Alex saw our plan, he didn't dismiss the ideas and actually inquired about various things and means by which to access specific points to see if the plans could work. He actually took the time to think about the project. There was a lot of reasons why Alex won our job, but this was the main one. Of all the contractors that came through -- he was the only one that actually considered what we had to say as homeowners. He was the only one that seemingly cared about the project. He was the only one that seemingly wanted the job. Sure, others gave prices, but they weren't exactly enthusiastic. Alex actually walked through and visualized the project with us. It was that kind of customer service that we appreciated more than anything else. His price was very competitive with other bids, but his actual interest and eagerness ultimately won the contract for him. Alex also doesn't use subcontractors, which was something that we found VERY appealing. Often times subcontractors delay projects and do things that compromise the integrity of the project. Alex does much of the work himself, as a licensed general contractor, and has his own team of specialists that he uses for individual projects, rather than contracting out people, which means he works only with people that he trusts. That should resonate with people. It shows that he believes in keeping his reputation, and completing projects to the highest standards. Once under contract, I told Alex that I would take care of much of the demolition of the two bathrooms and would open up the entire second floor so that he wouldn't have to worry about it. We also bought all of the materials (minus the building materials) ourselves. His bid was for the labor only, which was something that we wanted specified in the contract -- not "allowances" for certain materials. This is something that no other contractor did, which we found to be annoying. Contractors routinely try to make money off of materials -- one that came out to make a big actually said, "oh, so you don't want me to make money? i see..." -- Alex didn't do that, he gave us a bid like we wanted, one that was just for his labor costs. He did exactly what we asked of him. The original project was began with the two bathrooms, a master closet and opening up the hallway. Alex framed up walls to add three feet to the bathrooms by subtracting an already oversized master bedroom. He relocated plumbing and quickly tackled the most difficult part of our renovation -- wall-mounted European style toilets. Admitting that he had never worked on such a project, Alex said he would try to figure it out and put them in. He figured out how to do the job and they turned out to be fantastic (and a constant talking point of people entering the room). The additional space enabled Alex to put in a massive walk-in rain shower with water tiles and a bench in the guest bathroom. In the master bathroom, which was no bigger than a closet before (6ft long X 4'3 wide), he extended the length, added a walk-in shower and creatively rearranged the room to make it appear like a proper master bathroom. The final look can only be described as high-end hotel luxurious -- wall-mount fixtures and high end finishes. But moving the walls meant that two doors needed to be relocated for adjacent bedrooms. Doing so actually extended the hallway to appear even larger. To finish the project, he extended an existing closet in the master bedroom so that it became a walk-in master. All the while, he fixed all of the code issues with the electrical wiring, which was "insufficient" (no GFIs in the bathrooms, etc.) and he made sure that the plumbing, electrical, and general construction exceeded specifications/standards. He even ran new wiring for potential future projects that may take place and devised a plan that would enable an additional bathroom, should we (or anybody else) ever decide to put one in the attic and have a second master suite. The entire project took five weeks to complete but the results are beyond our original idea. Our bathrooms are phenomenal and the entire upstairs now appears bigger and brighter than it ever was before. It also is way more practical and a much smarter design that utilizes the entire space available. We were seriously stunned at the finished project. The attic became a separate project that took place a few months later (in fact, we just completed it). We brought Alex back to complete the work. It took less than a week and is, of course, done incredibly well. Once again, we took care of much of the original demolition work, only to find out the floor that was placed in was insufficient (almost falling down to the dining room proved this claim). Alex came through and put down a sturdy floor of 3/4" plywood throughout, framed out walls to increase the size of the room by 8 ft in width, and added a walk-in closet. It is a bonus room that can either become of a fourth bedroom (which we will use it as) or it can be a second-family room with a small office. He even fixed the hole in the ceiling of the dining room and a small crack that occurred in the living room before finishing up. The payment for the attic was done differently than the original contract for the bathrooms, etc. This time we didn't buy any of the materials. Alex bought all of them and we would reimburse him upon completion of the project. The attic space cost $4000 plus materials. He produced receipts for every purchase that he made and only quoted what he had to pay (which was with a 10% contractor discount). He didn't bump up prices and made zero money off of the materials. He even was up front and honest about returning unused product and giving us the difference back. He also left any purchased product at the house instead of taking it with him upon completion of the project. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the mark of a man with integrity. Other contractors would have just taken the rest of the materials with them and not said about returning the unused materials. Alex is very responsive to questions, changes and concerns. He was a great communicator with his team and also with us as the homeowners. He is licensed and bonded, and talented... and, most importantly, CLEAN! Obviously clean is subjective, and construction sites do kick up dust (there's no way around that), but Alex and his team do their best to clean up what they can at the end of each day. Sweet Home Improvements, and Alex Udovik, get our highest recommendation and we will have them back for any projects that come up in the future. We've found our contractor!
Description of Work: We had Alex in for two separate projects. Project #1: Remodeled two bathrooms, built master walk-in closet, redid all of the electrical wiring and opened up the upstairs hallway with new header. Project #2: Finish off attic with walk-in closet included.

Once Alex started the work, every thing went well. He brought one helper with him. He completed the work in a professional manner and on the time he told us. He cleaned up at the end of the day before leaving and he is trustworthy. The extra $375.00 was for the materials he had to purchase, because I had bought the wrong materials. We had a couple of unexpected things happened. The exhast fan in the master bath was not connected to any outlet on the outlet end and it was exhausting into the attic. The exhaust fan for the guest bath was connected to a hose & sheet metal duct, but was only venting into the air grille at the edge of the roof. Alex bought the materials, hooked up the fan for the master bath the same way as it is for the guest bathroom. I paid for the labor and the materials he purchased. We had him frame the mirror for the guest bathroom at no charge. We tried to hire him to do some work in the kitchen towards the end of the contract, but he had other work lined up already. I would hire him again to do work in my house if needed.
Description of Work: Sweet Home Improvements remodelled our master and the guest bath rooms. The price agrred for both the bathrooms was $9000.00 for labor only and we wanted to supply all the materials. We signed contarct in February 2012, but we underestimated the time for getting the materials on time. Tubs and vanity had to be ordered and it took several weeks to get them in. Alex agreed to wait until we had everything needed for the remodelling project. He fortunately had other work lined up to take the slack. My recommendation to anyone trying to have bathrooms remodelled is to pick out the material with the proper color and find out what the delivery is. Make sure to get the contractor get started only after getting all the materials delivered.

I met with and recieved bids for the project from several contractors from Angies List. Alex's price was in line with the other contractors I was considering. After meeting with him a second time to review the scope of the project, I decided to hire him. He arrived and worked when he said he would. The quality of his work is very good and I am pleased with how the project turned out. I would definately hire him for future projects.

Alex arrived as planed and after going over the job details was able to give me an estimate. I called a few days later and accepted his proposal. He created a simple contact outlining the job specs and payment schedule. I had a deadline as to when the job needed to be completed due to the arrival of a house guest. There were one or two small miss- communications which we cleared up with no problem. As the work progressed- I had a few ideas and added them to the job list. After all was completed, Alex and I went over everything- he needed some extra materials,of which I was informed during the work process- and had all the receipts.. there was more labor as well- Alex was extremely fair in pricing out the extra work that we wanted done as long as he was there. He and his assistant were very clean and organized - cleaning up at the end of each day- so the disruption in daily living was minimal considering the amount of dirt and dust involved- we were warned in the beginning! As an extra plus to using this company- Alex has some good ideas as to what looks good, and advised me away from my idea in where and how big to make the niche in the shower. The handheld shower came with a really nasty cable- Alex showed up the next morning with a really nice one and asked if we would prefer that one- also suggested marble for the threshold to the shower instead of tile. He also cut down the metal side frame for the glass door- without charging extra- due to fact that the wide metal distracted from the overall look. I did not expect the nob to take as long as it did- but it didn't matter- because they were finished on time and did a beautiful job at a fair price. will use them for all renovations in the future.
Description of Work: shower: Demolished old shower, replaced shower pan and installed concrete drywall, installed tile and created niche, installed new shower hardware, replacing band pipes and re-directing for better orientation. replaced old vanity top with new side room- repaired water damaged walls and ceiling, painted

Alex has been wonderful! He's there when he says he'll be there and is always flexible with the work and design. Our home is over 200 years old so you never know what problems are lurking behind the existing walls. We obtained three estimates on the first bathroom remodel and decided to go with Sweet Home Improvements. We're so glad we did. Alex completely gutted the first bathroom and rebuilt it including changing the placement of outlets, switches and updating the plumbing. He's very meticulous and his work shows it. In addition the the bathroom remodel, he also installed an old, salvage exterior front door for us. Not an easy task as nothing in our home is level or plumb! When it came time for the next bath remodel, we didn't even consider anyone else. We were going to have him install a molded shower unit and Alex suggested he also would give us an estimate for a tiled shower that he would build. There wasn't much of a price difference and we're so glad we went with the tiled shower. It's just beautiful! His tile work is wonderful. He also enlarged an existing doorway and installed a larger interior door. Again, the work performed was perfect. We'll definately be using Sweet Home Improvements for our master bath remodel next year.
Description of Work: Alex, of Sweet Home Improvements, has remodeled two bathrooms for us and installed two doors, one interior and one exterior. In June of 2011, he remodeled a small powder room and installed an exterior replacement front door. In January of 2012, he removed an old metal shower and built-in a new tiled shower as well as enlarging a door frame and installing a new interior door.

Alex, of Sweet Home Improvements, was extremely responsive and professional. He always responded in a timely fashion to my phone or email contacts, even though his wife had recently borne their second child and he was assisting in the acclimatization process. Although his company specialized in remodeling and floor installation, Alex agreed to undertake and coordinate correction for a group of miscellaneous electrical, beautification, and plumbing defects which had just been revealed by a pre-sale home inspection of my aged aunt's residence. The job entailed a preliminary visit and numerous phone and email contacts to firm-up the precise details of the problems and their resolution. Although he doesn't directly perform plumbing work, Alex arranged a competent professional to do so and made sure that everything was done on time and at a reasonable cost. I would certainly employ Sweet Home Improvements again and would heartily endorse Alex to whomever else was considering his services.

The work was done on schedule, within budget and to our complete satisfaction. Alex was very communicative, shared ideas on how to improve our basic plan and was there through all phases. The complete renovation took 6 days just as promised. They were friendly, punctual and made every effort to keep our house as clean as possible during the process. Another contractor had started to do a deck expansion, which turned out to be a total disaster and in the end he left us with an unfinished, crooked and very ugly deck. Alex and his collegue took over the mess, corrected what they could and finnished the expansion to our complete satisfaction. We would definately use them again and will continue to recommend them.
