AFFORDABLE HEATING & COOLING

For the last service they called me and said they could come out today or tomorrow. I said to them that I couldn’t do then and I asked if we could do it next week. They said no they couldn’t because “I” might forget. They called me later and said they could go right then and I said they could since I was home. The tech that came out didn’t have my paper work or anything and didn’t even check everything. I called the office and spoke with the manager and she was very confrontational and started lecturing me. I tried to speak and couldn’t get anything in and she then hung up on me. The manager then said that if the tech had to come back then she would fire the tech. I then today received a nasty letter today from them. I am in the process of sending a letter back to the president. I will not be using them again after I had probably spent $7,000 with them over the past 3 years.

Affordable evidently changed its name from Affordable Heating and Cooling to The Affordable Group Inc. It appears to prey on the elderly. About 3 months ago they sold my 90 year old mother on a "free" AC inspection because they said that she had a service contract with them. She never had a contract with them. I was there when the guy came and it immediately became clear what he was up to. He said that the air handler was too old (It is 8 years old) and that she needed to buy a new unit and that if she acted that day they'd give her a "special deal" of only $2,000 for just the air handler. I told him to leave and then had her AC inspected by another company and the unit was fine and there were no freon leaks. That didn't deter Affordable though. Yesterday they called my mother again and she didn't call me to come over. The Affordable rep came over and said that for $25 he would do a regular AC inspection. She let him come over and he spent about 5 minutes changing the air filter. He then told her the price was $85. She pushed back at said that he said originally it was $25. When she told me last night that she let Affordable back I was upset and said that they may have done something to her AC. Today she called me at 7AM and said that her AC was not working. I called another AC contractor and he came and had to put 5 LBs. of Freon in her AC unit. I am 100% certain that Affordable guy drained her AC of Freon. Affordable are thieves, plain and simple. The address that they have on my mother's invoice is not the Venice address. It is 1450 Tallevast Road, Sarasota, FL 34243. PLEASE watch out for these thieves. I have never written a negative review on any firm before, but these people do not deserve to be in business.
