The work was well done. The professionalism of the staff was excellent. The only reason I didn't give an A was that we specifically said we wanted zoysia. It turned out that the zoysia wasn't going to be available for a couple of months, which was okay. The problem came when management didn't make this clear to us. As a result, our yard was cleared in late February, and one day I came home to discover that St. Augustine was being laid. The crew was almost done, and I had to have them pick it all up (which they did very professionally). We had to wait 2 more months, during which time most of our yard ended up in the street. If management had been clear about the delay in getting zoysia, the lawn could have been cleared much later. I would still recommend using Sod-X.

Mr. Rico Del Rio came to my home at the appt. Time he gave me a very good quote answered all my questions, he was very thorough. His team returned to take out the lawn, they were very thorough. The install of the lawn was delayed due to rain but when they were done it looks wonderful. We had some follow up concerns and Rico came out and answered all our questions and concerns. I would highly recommend Sod-X.

I called this company to get an estimate on front/back lawn sod and they sent someone out the very next day. The company employee called to inform me he was on his way. Left an estimate on the door. The cost of the job is reasonable.

They cut the old grass out, leveled the ground and layed new sod. Very thick healthy grass, Looks great.

They arrived on time and started removing dead sod right away and filled in 4 large divots in front yard from old trees roots rotting after they had been removed. They came day after the estimate was given with a team of 5 workers and were done in about 2 1/2 hours. Sod has been there about 6 weeks and was watered as directed and appears to be doing okay at this time except for a few brown spots. Hope those perk up in the future.

Very good service. Workers were prompt and worked hard through the day to strip the old turf, fertilize soil and replace St. Augustine with Zoysia. One slight issue, work crew did not have any English speakers on until the afternoon when the second load of sod showed up. Not a huge deal but I felt there was a bit of a communication problem for the first part of the day.

Couple days after I gave the OK they were here installing. They did a great job. I even had a little patch in the front that they fixed on their own.

Right from the first time I called Rico it has been a great pleasure working with them. He came out right away to give me an estimate and gave me good suggestions on the type of grass that would work best for me. They came out right away with a whole crew of workers that were very professional, did great work and always cleaned up after themselves. Everyone was very knowledgeable and willing to answer my many questions and requests. I was amazed at the transformation of my yard, even just after the clean up. Now I have a gorgeous, lush lawn that my kids can enjoy running and playing on.

Overall we are pleased. Bahia grass takes a couple of days to 'take' but with the regular watering since last week it's turning green all over and going to look Great after a month. From what I've noticed the grass was weed free and competently laid down. There are some small gaps between some of the pieces but we should be able to fill in a few weeks after first mowing. The new sod was rolled to level it out and the crew did a great job in cleaning up sidewalk before leaving. Only reason for not giving an 'A' overall was b/c of communication. I had requested that I be notified before day of installation so I could clear the area to be sodded of some debris. Unfortunately I found out day off and had to leave work to meet them. In addition, there was some weed clearing in the backyard that we agreed to have removed that the crew did not know that had to be done. If I had not left work this part of the job would have not been done. Please note that they made everything right before they left but I was fortunate that could get away from work without much notice. Overall, we are pleased and would likely use again and recommend.

I've bought from Sod-X before. They are very helpful with measurements, loading.

The sod was excellent, with very little waste. I had purchased Bahia from other places, but the quality from Sod-X was excellent. Virtually weed-free, it was great. I'm going back tomorrow to get some more (I goofed in my measurements). I'm glad I gave them a shot... |

Went to Sod-X to replace sod where trees had been removed. Asked for the dimensions of the pieces since I had 100 sq. ft. to replace. Was told that the sod pieces where 2 sq. ft. so I requested 50 pieces. Started to lay the sod and realized I had way more sod than needed. Measured the sod pieces and found they were much closer to 3 sq. ft. than 2 sq. ft. Called Sod-X with 2 hours of when I picked up the sod and asked if I could return unused pieces. Was told that they do not take returns. I explained that they had given me the wrong size of the sod and they reply that it was not they fault. Had work done done by the company before but twill never use again.

Rico talked a great game: they'd have the old sod out, and the new sod in and rolled by close of business the following day; after which he'd do a personal walkthrough with me; and he'd be back in 30 days to replace anything that needed attention. His crew arrived on time, but didn't have enough sod to complete the job. That was Friday, May 31. I called him that night, he assured me that the crew would be back Monday to finish up, and asked if I'd go ahead and pay him. Against my better judgement I did. A man did come out and finish laying the sod on Monday evening. I asked about the rolling, he said that was a different crew. I called Rico about the rolling, he said that the rainy weather had everything backlogged. To this day, I have not received a call from them, the yard hasn't been rolled, and I've never laid eyes on Rico. I have gaps in the yard, and his and quot;99% weed free sodand quot; has sprouted a lot of nutsedge and wild bahaia (it's in the sod, not coming up from under it, as it pulls the sod square up if you try to remove it). I'm not impressed, and I would not recommend them to anyone. They were fast on the initial contact and start, but once Rico got my money I feel like he left me hanging.

They were excellent. They cleaned up after themselves.

SOD-X was GREAT!! I went from the worst yard in the neighborhood to the best in under 4 hrs!! Rico and his crew were on time, did a great job, answered any questions I had and gave me a great looking yard ( now if I can only not kill it this time!). I would highly recommand SOD-X for any re-sodding job you might have.me, cleared the yard, level it, fertilized/weed blocked, and layed a lush green lawn

Received estimate from Rico to replace sod, remove flower bed and level out yard with fill dirt. Crew showed up on time and did an excellent job. Responded to follow up phone calls and replaced some pieces of Sod that had a fungus.Would use again in the future.

They were fast and professional laying the sod down. They did not try to upsell me; he offered other suggestions as to what to do but at the time I got what I needed.

We called on Sod-X, INC. to plant new grass, they put in the grass in July and it is already dead, it's only been six months. The salesman told us the grass they put in will stand the shade but it does not it needs sun. We have called them to come out and look at the grass and they never did come out. We have been told they have a good reputation but they do not have one with us. I would not use them again.

Anyway, Rico stated the sod would be scheduled most likely for 23 April. When I came home on the 20 April, the sod was already down and the yard looked great. They cleaned up and I was very excited. Now, I've been waiting to write this as I wanted to get a full picture after the sod was allowed to grow in. After about five weeks there were pieces of sod that died (approx 1/2 a pallet) and was taken over by the common bermuda grass underneath. The SODX literature stated I had a 60 day warranty so I was hoping it was true. I called Rico on approximpately 24 May and he stated he would send his guy over to spray the bermuda and he will try again. I also stated there were some other areas that died as well. Rico said he would take care of it. On 26 April I could tell after coming home that indeed his guy came over and sprayed. Now it's 1 June and his crew came over at about 7PM and started removing and replacing the sod. The team lead was Fransisco (sp) and he and the entire crew were very nice as I showed him the problem areas. He called Rico and confirmed that he would replace the sod. I will tell you his team worked very hard and I greatly appreciated them coming over after a long day of work and fix my yard. I will tell you I was a little concerned as I didn't check and quot;The Listand quot; recently as I remembered seeing SODX a year or so ago with a solid rating. After the initial job I decided to check and that's when I got nervous as I saw his rating was a and quot;C.and quot; All I can say is Rico treated me with the utmost respect and was true to his word. I hope this is the start of a turn around on the list as my experience was a very good one!

I hired another company, and they came out on Thursday. On Friday, a crew came out, and no one spoke english. I didn't think anything of it, until i received notice from Sod-X that i owed them $599. I never hired this company and I never signed anything with them stating that I wanted the work done by them. I spoke with Rico regarding the situation and he was very threatening.

Lawn replacement was going to be last on our list of home improvements, but after installing a brick patio that just flooded and raised right out of the ground once we got our first big rain, we needed it right away. We knew replacing the almost non-existent lawn would rid us of the incorrect slope we created for ourselves and save our investment of the new patio. Rico responded immediately, coming that same day (this was a Saturday). We had gotten his quote a month earlier so he still had us on file. He had us slotted for that very next Monday. On that Monday he called to apologize and tell me that the rains delayed their work schedule. They were out the very next day. Rico is the sales manager, but his crew chief (Juan I believe) was just as attentive. Allowing me to repeat my concerns over and over until I felt comfortable and insured that he'd take care of everything. At the beginning of day two I was confused to see them ripping up my neighbors lawn, but then pleased to discover that when our neighbor saw the work they were doing, she contracted them too and they accommodated her immediately.

Upon inquiring 4 different sod replacement companies, SOD-X was the first one to return my call and come out the SAME DAY for my free estimate. With each Sod bid, I inquired the salesperson's relationship to the business. This is important to me to see how "committed" they are to the company, plus their experience/knowledge of the business/product that I'm investing a good deal of money into. Rico is the owner of the company and has been doing this on his own for 5 or 6 years, if my memory suits me correctly. He really knew his sod application, and had worked for a local sod company for multiple years before starting his own business. He, personally, came twice to apply herbicide to my bermuda affected areas before installation. His bid was the most reasonable, and he seemed to have a real passion for his work and his employees, and did a great job. He insured the job met our satisfaction before we paid.
