We had a dishwasher warranty through Assurant. Dishwasher started leaking, and Assurant assigned Mel's to the repair. First repair was scheduled from 12-5 pm. Mel's called me at 11 am (when I was still at work) stating that they were in front of my home (and they refused to come back during the prescheduled afternoon time slot). Assurant rescheduled Mel's for a few days later from 8 am - 12 pm. Mel's never even showed up this time, and despite that they marked the repair as "complete." Assurant has since reopened my warranty claim and reassigned the repair to another company. Don't waste your time with Mel's as they cannot even show up at the proper time, if at all.

This is a warranty repair from an after market insurance from Lowes. The first company they offered was weeks out, Mel's appliance was faster, so we took them. Cris came out, diagnosed the problem, found an addition issue about to become a problem, ordered parts to repair both. Parts took ~2 weeks to arrive, that is my only complaint. Cris came back, quickly installed the parts, made sure the unit was working, and then offered suggestions to keep the washer and dishwasher running. Very professional, easy to work with. I would use them again.

Worst company ever. Was scheduled online for Monday and when I called they said it was Tuesday. I continued to inquire and the phone agent stated Oh My God and hung up on me. I tried to call back and she would not answer. I called to speak with owner who was very rude and started I hung up on her. He could care less how the customers are treated. Would never do business with this company

This is the worst repair company I have ever had to deal with. My 1 year old GE refrigerator started leaking water and I called Assurant the warranty company to get it repaired. They assigned Mel's appliances to my claim. Their first available was 4 days out, the person arrived and made some unknown "adjustment" and said it was fixed. The next day it was leaking again. I called Mel's again and they put me on their schedule 5 days out this time. That day came and by 4:30 no one had shown up, so I called and got their voicemail and left a message. The next day someone called from Mel's stating that the repair guy came out and no one was home. This was a bold faced lie, I had a houseful of people that day and no one ever came. Of course at this point I was angry, I tried to request a different repair company through Assurant but they told me I had no choice but to work with Mel's due to the fact that they came out the first time. Makes no sense, but I went ahead and called Mel's again to reschedule for a third time. To my shock, the day came and went and they never showed up a second time! When called, you guessed it, Mel's said they had been out and rang the doorbell but no one answered. I then had my husband call and complain at Assurant and finally got a new company to come out. Meanwhile, I called GE direct to ask if there was such a thing as a "adjustment" that could have been made in the area of the fridge the was working on and was told this was not a thing. Beware, do not let this company anywhere near your appliances.

This is the warranty company that was assigned to us from Famous Tate when we bought our washer and dryer. Our washer is less than a year old and was having trouble so we called them to try and come out to figure out what was wrong with it. WHAT A JOKE this company is. As if the unprofessional voicemail isn’t indicative enough, they never answer the phone or return calls. After a month of trying to get someone out we finally did. The guy was nice and knowledgable and was in and out in 15mins. He said he would order the parts and call us as soon as they came in. The parts were delivered directly to our home two weeks ago. We have called every single day multiple different times of the day and regardless no one ever answers. We have left four voicemails and received zero calls back. This company is a complete joke and I can’t believe Famous state would associate themselves with them.

Waited almost a month for them to get parts to repair the water dispenser on my fridge. Once they got the parts, they called all of the sudden saying they're on their way in 20 minutes. No curtesy appointment in advance for me to prepare for them. Their technician was rude. No respect to customers. Even insulted me on his way out.

We ended up buying a service plan from him at the time. We were having problems with the ice maker and it would not switch back to cubes from crushed ice. He remounted the solenoid and replaced the mounting screws. It went very well. There was no problems at all. It seems to me that they were pretty responsive. They showed up when they said they were going to.

It went horrible. The guy that schedules the appointments is extremely rude, the employees are useless and not knowledgeable at all. They call and make an appointment for you the evening before and if you're not available to take off work, they can't schedule you again until the following week. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE USELESS!
Description of Work: They are contracted our by major dept stores to repair warranty work. Unfortunately they leave you hanging, never fix your appliance that is under warranty and/or never come back with replacement part.

We purchased our dryer from Home Depot and purchased the extended warranty. The dryer stopped working and we called the warranty company on December 10th. They said they contacted the local repair shop in our area (Mel's appliances) and that they would be out there on Monday December 15th. On Friday Dec 12th, I get a call from Mel's saying they just got notified of the service request and so they wouldn't be able to come out until Wed Dec 17th. A tech came out on Wednesday, spent 2 minutes with our dryer, and declared that the timer and knob were broken AND there was no electricity to our dryer. We could not believe that all those things happened at once and the tech could not speak English well enough to explain. The tech indicated the parts would be ordered and that they would come back out. Three weeks later, we called them to request an update of where the parts were. We did not receive any call back. So we called the warranty company who called them and said that the parts should be there that day and that they would call us to schedule to come out. A week later with no call we called the warranty company back, got the same answer (part will be here today, yada yada). Week 5 comes and we beg the warranty company to get us a new appliance company. They say they can't because the repair had already begun. They said "Give them until Friday" and this was Monday. On Friday, Mel's calls and said they had the parts in and that they would come out that Monday Jan 19th to install them. Same tech comes out, installs the parts, dryer still doesn't work. Says no power to dryer and not his problem. My husband tries to get him to do more diagnostics but he's sure he is right. We paid 259.00 for an electrician to come out who discovers there is no electrical problem - it is getting power just fine. He puts in a larger breaker just so our money would actually go towards something. We call the warranty company and get a supervisor. We tell him he needs to send out a new company. New company comes out and discovers that the timer installed was BROKEN. He puts our OLD timer back in and the dryer starts up fine. So the only issue was a broken knob. This company has many other reviews JUST LIKE THIS when you google them. I will never get a warranty from Home Depot if they are going to continue to use Mel's Appliances.
Description of Work: They were supposed to come out, diagnose our dryer, and repair it. What they did was cost us 259 for an electrician to come out to fix a problem that didn't exist, removed a part that worked, and installed a part that didn't work. They also cost us 6 weeks without a dryer waiting for the broken part to come in.

After two weeks we called to see if the belt had come in yet. Actually we called several times. First time they told us that they expected the belt in the next couple of days and would call and make arrangements to install it. One week later we called and they said they were checking to see if it was in the delivery they had gotten that day and they would call to make arrangements to install it. A few days later we called and this time a different person answered and we were told they expected it in a couple of days. No phone call. We called Lowes and they called Mel's and were told they would call us to make an appointment to have it installed. No call. Today 130/15 we called Mel's and were told that they would be here on Tuesday to install the belt and that they would call us Monday give us a time. By this time we have had enough!!! This is not the first time we have had to deal with this company. A month before the belt broke, the dryer quit working. Again it was under warranty so they were called by Lowes. This time the motor went bad. It was 2 weeks after they were here that they were able to install it. They had told us it would be in the next week. We called after a week and a half and were told it was not in yet. We had to call and ask again for them to come out and install it.
Description of Work: Provider came January 5, 2015 to check out our dryer. Informed us that a belt was broken and had to be replaced. They told us it would probably be in the next week.

This service provider came to my home on 4 separate occasions and still the problem is not solved. Every time I needed service it took an enormous time to have the service performed. It seems that this machine is unrepairable (only 18 months old) and the service provider will not tell the seller to replace this unit.

after showing up 30 min late, he told me it was the Themositer, thus he would order the part. Part came in replaced it but it didn't resolve the problem. They came back second time and then said the boards needed to be replaced est. $400. On the second time, they charged another service call fee even though the problem wasn't resolved when i paid for it the 1st time. Needless to say, this company didn't work out.

I purchased a new appliance from Best Buy about a week ago and that weekend I discovered that my oven did not work. I called Best Buy on Monday and they gave me the name of this company to cal. Best Buy was paying for the call. I scheduled then to come to my house this morning between the hours of 8:00-12:00 (and . By 12:40 they had not shown up and I needed to get to work, so I called them to find out what the problem was. All they could tell me was that they could not contact the person who was supposed to come to my house and they did not know where he was =, so they could not help me. I waited a little longer before I left go go to work and he never showed up.

My refrigerator was not fixed. Later that same day, I called Mel?s Appliance to complain that the refrigerator was not fixed. I was told to wait 24 hours for the refrigerator to get cold. I called them the next day and again on Monday morning, but could only leave voice mails in which I stated my refrigerator still was not fixed and requested a call back. I received no response from them. Later that same afternoon I called again (this time using a different telephone number) and got through. I was told they were busy and would call me right back. No one called me back. I called twice on Tuesday and once on Wednesday, but again could only leave voice mails in which I requested a call back because my refrigerator was not fixed. They have not returned any of my calls. I needed to get my refrigerator fixed. Finally, I contacted a second refrigerator repair company and they correctly diagnosed my refrigerator as needing a new compressor. There is no reason for anyone to put up with this type of shoddy service. I ALWAYS use a credit card for this type of purchase. I am now working with my Bank and Credit Card company on a chargeback to get their credit card charges reversed. I do not recommend this merchant for anything.

The serviceman wouldn't even look at the motor area of the refrigerator to see if something was possibly loose, even though I repeatedly told him it was when the refrigerator first kicked on. He said the problem was just a normal noise from the ice maker. I pointed out that the noise was coming from the motor area and not the ice maker. When I asked him several times why it would just now be happening if it was just a normal sound, l couldn't get an answer out of him. He just stood there and looked at the refrigerator and told me that everything was fine, including the frost in the freezer. When he left he said if it happened again to call his office, not the company that is holding the warranty. If you are hiring a company, DO NOT use this company. If your appliance is under warranty, tell the wearranty company to not send anyone from Mel's Appliance. The next time I turn in a service call, I intend to tell them to pick another service company.
Description of Work: My refrigerator is 9 months old and about 2 months ago began sometimes sounding very loud when it first comes on. Most of the time, it quiets down after about 5-6 seconds, but sometimes it takes up to about 30 seconds to quiet down. I also have a light layer of frost on the front of the roll-out drawer inside the freezer. My refrigerator is under warranty, so when I called the company with a service call, they picked the repair service.

They didn’t repair the refrigerator properly. The next day after they had come in and repaired our refrigerator, the ice maker had spoiled and there was water all over the place and also my floor was damaged. Then we called Mel's Appliances the next day and they refused to do the work again. The owner said that the guy had done what he was supposed to do and he didn’t send anyone. Then we had to replace the flooring as well. As it was under warranty I called the company and said what had happened and they arranged for some other company to do the job. I finally ended up using another company to repair the refrigerator. I would never use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Mel's Appliances five years ago. There was too much of water coming out from the ice maker and the ice cubes was sticking together, so we contacted the company and they had suggested Mel's Appliances to repair the refrigerator as my refrigerator was under warranty.
