Description of Work: We had made plans for 10am and I had been up since 8am. When I messaged him to ask where they were at 10:15am he told me he arrived at 9:30am and was trying to find parking for 30 minutes and that he had tried calling me but I didn't receive a phone call at all. I had been up since 8am preparing the room for the painting service as instructed by J R Home Improvement. He told me they only paint inside houses after I sent him a message asking him if we were still getting the room done today because I had not been contacted. I live in a condominium which he did not say was a problem. I am very unsatisfied with J R Home Improvement. I used another painting service from Angie's List and was more than happy with the service I got. The other company was very professional.

Description of Work: On August 22 J R told me he would send me a proposal that night or next day. After two weeks and unable to reach him by email at the email address on his business card (message came back "undeliverable - username or email address not valid.) On September 6 I called Angie's List to opt out of offer and was told possibly another offer could be found. On September 9 I received J R's proposal I responded to him that I had opted out of his proposal on September 6.

Description of Work: JR was very understanding and helpful working with my schedule. When it was time to do the work He and his son were prompt and efficient with their time. They replaced part of my ceiling in our 3rd bedroom that has some water damage from a leak. The work is quality and you can barely tell where his work ends and the old ceiling begins. I will def use them again for other projects!

Description of Work: They were originally contracted to repair my garage ceiling. However, I asked them if they could also remove the popcorn ceiling and refinish the entire garage ceiling. They said they could do it for $1000 including replacing the damaged area. They did it immediately and the ceiling looks really good. JR Home Improvement was very dependable. The only suggestion I would make to anyone getting a ceiling taken down, is to realize that this is a very messy process. So remove or cover your stuff, I am still cleaning up the dust.

Description of Work: I originally hired JR Improvement (JRI) to paint two bedrooms (master bedroom-MBR & 2nd bedroom-BR2) and 3 standard size closets, patch a plaster crack in the ceiling and hang chair rail (BR2) and build custom dresser/shelving unit in MBR. I purchased all the materials per JRI instruction prior to the project starting on 8.18.13 and JRI picked up items directly from Home Depot which was helpful. The project started the following Monday with the patch repair & bedrooms paint complete on Wed (8.21.13) and JRI stated he would work on drawer unit in his shop Thursday & it be ready for install on Friday (8.23.13). After install he would paint unit & touch-up other areas that needed paint. That was the beginning of the end... | |That Wed (8.21.13) was the last day JRI had come to my house to work...as Fri (8.23.13) came I received a text from JRI saying he was finishing up the unit & wanted the wood glue to dry before moving it, likely later that day. Late Fri I received another text stating JRI would install on the following Monday, stating he had so family issues out otherwise he would work on Saturday. After trying to coordinate a start time for the Monday thru the weekend with no response, on Monday (8.26.13) I received a text asking for the work to be pushed back to Wed due to a death in the family which I of course obliged. After numerous attempts to contact JRI to coordinate a start time, I got no response via phone or txt until Fri (8.30.13) stating that JRI had his shop broken into & needed to push things back to the following Thur (9.5.13) which I reluctantly obliged but clearly stated he needed to call me to discuss scope of work to be complete (I had finished painting the bedrooms & closets on my own & hung the chair rail). | |Thru out the week of 9.2.13 I make numerous attempts both via phone & text to discuss my displeasure & to rectify the situation however I didn't hear back from JRI until Thurs (9.5.13) [which was the date he requested we resume the project] to request me postpone the project until the next Monday or Tuesday. Because I needed the work complete, I again obliged for the 3rd time and again requested JRI call me (correspondence only via text) which he didn't do. | |The following Monday (9.9.13) I received a text at 7:45a stating he was going to call me after a meeting. After waiting until 4:21p I questioned JRI via text if he was still in said meeting, once I got no reply I followed up with another text stating I was going to have my legal counsel get involved. The following morning I received a text from JRI stating he was ready to get to work but after his lack of responsiveness and professionalism I told him I had already started legal proceedings & I would only meet him to give me the unit he completed & any leftover materials. | |Seeing as I didn't get any response from JRI, even after going to his private residence in attempt to speak with him directly seeing as he had stopped replying to my text or returning my phone calls, filed a complaint with the local authorities and the Better Business Bureau regarding the situation. Not until the week of 10.6.13 did I finally hear from JRI where we decided to meet & exchange the last of the items (JRI had left some tools & my residence) at which time he told me he sold my custom unit and repurchased all the raw materials (???). | |JRI was completely unprofessional, non-responsive and not punctual on self imposed start times. I also question whether JRI was being honest with whatever issues where going on because the wife (whom I met when at his home when trying to discuss) had no knowledge of the project or him being out of town due to family issues or the stealing of his tools. | |I would NEVER recommend him to do any work for any reason.

Description of Work: I purchased the Big Deal, $95 to Pressure Wash Your Driveway & Sidewalk. They did the cleaning at one of my rental properties and it went well.

Description of Work: JR is great! Friendly, punctual and thorough. He painted our dining room and did a great job. Will definitely consider having him back for other projects.

Description of Work: I had shopped around for someone to redo our hideous bathroom. Many other companies were quoting me close to $25,000 for the job! I was a little suspect when John gave me a $6,000 quote, but I went with him anyway. Now not only is our bathroom absolutely gorgeous, but we were able to get all of the extras we wanted (whirlpool tub, travertine tiles, large double vanity an an LED under cabinet light ) because we weren't paying for the extra unnecessary labor that the other remodeling companies required we have. Plus, while other companies only told me why I could and couldn't do with the space. John made everything I wanted to happen, happen. The workmanship is done well and he is able to do most of the work by himself most days. He broke down our bathroom to the studs, gave us all new rock wall and fixed our electrical problems and installed a beautiful new bathroom. He even patched up our ceiling in our kitchen when I began to fall apart from the demo and seeded our grass when the tile cutting killed a portion of it at no extra charge. Plus, many of the items we didn't think to purchase he just threw in extras he had lying around at no charge to me (Trim for the walls, ceiling light cans, etc)! There has been some difficulty in days when he wouldn't show to the job because I some previous job, there was often equipment left around after a days work, but I couldn't have gotten a better deal in town, and I know because I called 12 other companies first! I would definitely call him again, I know my bathroom could have cost more than double otherwise!

Description of Work: John was very quick to respond to my emails about an appointment. We set a time and date for him to come and paint my master bathroom. He told me that my coupon included 100 square feet of painting area, although this was not indicated on the coupon. On the day of the appointment, John called approximately 30 minutes before his scheduled time to say he would be late. This was not a problem for me. He showed up a little while later and assessed the bathroom, and told me that the area where the toilet and shower were located would not be included in the 100 square feet, and that it would cost another $79 to paint that area. I declined, as I thought that was too much for such a small area, and I don't think he was painting 100 square feet already. I realize a bathroom is more difficult because of all the cutting in, but there was no indication on the coupon that that was a concern. He got to work right away, and only took a few hours to finish. Overall he did a very nice job. I asked him for a price quote on a few other jobs, and he said he would email me with a quote. He never did.

Description of Work: Appointment set for between 11-1 this date....Got a message on my phone at 1:04 that he was at an address and I wasnt there....He was at wrong address.....I called him at 1:30 he was a half hour away and I told him to forget it....I wasted part of my morning and afternoon waiting for him to call....If you can't get my address right I can't take a chance he would find it again if I hired him...

Description of Work: We used J R to build and install chair railings in our waiting room and office. What a difference. The job was completed while we saw patients without any interruptions or flow in patient traffic. JR was professional and competent. We were very pleased and will call on his services again.
